Ford Coaches were not much cop. Underpowered, noisy and a gearchange like a wooden spoon in a bucket of Bolts. There again, Bedfords were not that much better.
@pump35 Ha dont think you have ever drivein one in your life ! i own and run a Vintage coach company and let me tell you a BedFord nor a Ford change gear's like a wooden spoon in a bucket of Bolts ! ok ford's ant the most Power-Full but they get up hill's the same as any of my LeyLand's and ALL start on the first turn
Nice clattery old 360 turbo. Love the sound. I drove a Ford 1014 ( 45 seater, ex Globe of Barnsley, Duple Dominant 2. XHE755T ) for about 3 years, and found it a lovely motor. With the 6 speed box, it had all the right ratio`s, and the only thing I could fault it on, was the cab heater, which was crap, but it had the electrically heated screens, so wasn`t too bad.
A lot of R series Fords were sold here in New Zealand. The original engines were total crap. Most got retro-fitted with Isuzu 6BD1T engines which made them a very good bus, many of them are still in service.

jaggass 3 years ago
yes, it's basically a cargo 17 ton chassis and used the same 6 cylinder engine

Brylaine of Boston had at least 10 of these in the mid-late 90's as I used to go to school on them!

There were a few Paramount/Fords about. Former operator Duncans of Huntingdon had C reg example of the Ford R1115 (inclined engine version).

@gcbus They had four R1115 Paramounts, and a couple of R1114s too

This has to be rare, I dont think I've ever seen a paramount on a ford chassis
