Sorry that happened to you neongefan....I admired him alot when he was young and so fresh....and yes he was very shy very humble and could sing like no other...as with all things that wear out in time...He is not this Engelbert any more...and that is the sadness of the beast... This is the Engelbert I remember...he was humble gorgeous and could belt out a song like no other...He can still sing........but he has lost some of that power...I hear it and I have been a fan since 1966....I still like his singing but let's face it this sweetheart that was so shy and humble has gone only the voice remains....still strong and beautiful just less strength age and smoking plays a big role in all of that...I still love Engelbert and there will never be another....LOL
@7BigDC - Finally, an EH fan who is willing to acknowledge that the man no longer has the vocal talents that he once had or is the sweet, shy, HUMBLE guy he used to be. I used to be one of his fans until I was on the receiving end of his big EGO. And the proof of his faltering voice is his Legacy of Love album. I bought that album as a fan, listened to it as a fan and I cringed through every single song.
@michaelkan1 - I'm not saying he isn't one of the greatest singers of all times. I'm well aware of the fact that he has no peers when it comes to vocal talents. But that was then, when he was in his 30's and 40's. After that, his vocal talents went downhill (not helped by his cigar smoking) and his ego went uphill.
