She may not have the best voice, but at least when she sings you know she means it. I feel a lot of people that are commenting on Madonna receiving this honor are missing the point and concept of the R&R Hall of Fame. It was formed to honour artists from music in general. Not from one particular genre or another, music in all it's forms.
As music evolves and reinvents itself so too have the artists that have been inducted.
Arguing about this is a lost cause on some. They should educate themselves as to what the R&R Hall of Fame sets out to achieve.

My final comment: Many artists express their sexuality through their music, but very few have deliberately allowed sex to dominate their artistic persona to the extreme that Madonna has. Of course she has lots of female fans - that does NOT make her pro-feminist. I don't agree, I think she took sex beyond what's been accepted for a female to the point it marginalized her career, especially around 1992-1993 with her Sex book. Madonna's transgressive sexual persona went far beyond the normal to the point where it was a genuine expression of a sexual whoredom that was all her own, she wasn't merely making herself out to be a sex object to sell a record.
I'm afraid you've misconstrued the political connotations of Madonna's sexual antics as selling sex.

I agree, Madonna did break barriers of female sexual expression, and in the early 90's this harmed her commercial appeal. However, for the overwhelming majority of her career, exploring sex in her music and displaying titilating images of herself has been the backbone of her success, to the point that most of her songs and videos would be unrecognisable if they were 'desexualised'. I feel a lot of people that are commenting on Madonna receiving this honor are missing the point and concept of the R&R Hall of Fame. It was formed to honour artists from music in general. Not from one particular genre or another, music in all it's forms.
As music evolves and reinvents itself so too have the artists that have been inducted.
Arguing about this is a lost cause on some. They should educate themselves as to what the R&R Hall of Fame sets out to achieve.
