  • Thank you so much for making and sharing this video!

I had a project where I originally planned to use fake flowers but the item that I was making was something that would be used quite a bit and needed something a bit smaller and flat but still decorative, I was worried that I would not be able to do ribbon embroidery but after finding your video I tried it and my first rose came out perfect and very easy!

    Thank you again!

  • can you do something bigger? It think bigger might make a good headband clippy.

  • @suthrndaysi

You could try it bigger and see if it would work, but this tutorial is specifically for silk ribbon embroidery which is relatively small since it is for embroidery. I've seen stuff out there for bigger roses made from folding large ribbon or fabrics that you can use to add to headbands or shirts etc. you may want to look into that.

  • you are awsome this is the easiest tutorial I ever come across. thank you thank you for sharing. hugs

  • Your rose came out beautiful! I am planning to begin practicing it within the week. Thank you for a simple-to-follow demonstration.

  • wow awsome i can use this for my embroidery project thank you so much :)

  • this is cute, think i might give it ago

  • Thanks for your response. I have given up on the chain stitch rose and have opted for this Spiderweb rose instead. Your right this it much better!

  • Thank you so much for sharing your talent!

I just starting learning how to embroider. :D

  • thanks for sharing..very nicely instructed and very helpful :)

  • what kind of white fabric is that? I am starting to learn how to do ribbon roses and would like to know what materials to start with..Please help...

  • Any fabric your size 22 chenille needle can pass through you can use. For practice I just use scraps of muslin.

  • that was really good and very helpful..

  • Thanks for making these easy to understand. How to you start them off & finish them? Do you use knots, glue, thread it - which way is the best? Thanks in advance. =^..^=

  • I mention about starting and finishing with silk ribbon in another video. I prefer a knot, pierce the tails, and or coming back with a needle and thread and securing the tails with that. I would not use glue.

  • I've never done spiderweb roses on washable clothing so I don't know how it would turn out. I usually do it on something like a jacket. You could always experiment and see how it holds up.

  • I've seen some little girls tank tops with lace flowers sewn on them.. any idea how to do those?

  • Hi,

  • wow!!! thanks alot! hope to see more!!

  • Thank you so much! I have been embroidering since I was in the third grade (I'm in college now), and I am always looking for new techniques and patterns. I can't wait to try this one! I just have two questions: how wide was the ribbon you used and does it matter what kind of ribbon it is (i.e. silk vs. satin)? Thanks so much!

  • I used 4mm silk ribbon and you could also do it in 7mm but it will be a thicker rose. I do not care for satin ribbon for ribbon embroidery, but it's up to your personal preference. Silk ribbon is easier to handle also it is softer and more fine looking.

  • THANKS. Helped a lot. feel free to show some others ;).

  • cool, thanks!!

  • Very nice instructional video on how to do the spider web rose. Thanks!
