that Katrina Quote from the newspaper has been taken out of context too, as the media often does pick and choose quotes without the full explanation as a sound bite to paint someone in a bad light
If you watch this he explains his position slightly more that the local state should deal with disasters and disaster prevention, rather than the federal govt's fema - who have done a bad job at it. Criticizing the mismanagement and response to Katrina.
He never said not to help the people of Katrina, he was only criticizing the govt and fema about how they handled it.
but if you watch the full interview, you hear his response. I don't think it does make him a hypocrite, as he explains, he is trying to make the best out of a corrupt system that he wants to change, and re-distribute it to the people. Rather than have the executive spend it on themselves.
... or give it to the Federal Reserve. He is trying to make the best out of a bad situation so to speak, a system that he would change and make better if elected.
Tim and his entire team had weeks to prepare and research an organized and practiced attack and Ron Paul single handedly kicked their ass with barely any effort on his part.
RP: That was my reaction the morning of the OKC bombing. Remember the 1st "patriot act" under Clinton and all the chatter about library records? Of course you do. You're a guardian of liberty.
Once again, COMPLETE ignorance of the income tax. INCOME TAX REVENUE DOES NOT FUND THE GOVERNMENT. IT GOES STRAIGHT TO THE FEDERAL RESERVE. EVEN REAGAN'S ADMINISTRATION ADMITTED THIS.
That's how you make it in corporate-owned media. Lay out land mines to trip up the interviewee, take sound bites out of context, talk over your guest and don't allow them to finish their thoughts, etc. etc. etc. The Alinskyite luciferian on MSNBC's "Slimeball" and the leprechaun spinner-bully over at Fox are two of the worst.
Solution: Do not watch their programs so the surveilling networks/cable companies will get less advertising revenues in prime time...
Ron Paul actually has a strong base of support from the people. It's individuals in government beauracracies, govt. contractors and certain corporate interests that influence media coverage that want to stifle exposure of Ron Paul. I think we should be skeptical as to whether it's actually the "people" that get to choose who becomes President.
@ALeeBatey If Tim was offended he can tell me himself. I don't want to post any spoilers here, but here goes. Everybody dies. Physical life is a temporary situation for exactly 100% of the population. Some of the population choose to spend their time in the public eye. Those people are completely and totally opening themselves up to criticism for their actions while still drawing breath. Tim understood that - I guarantee. Dead or not, he sounded stupid in this interview.

I for one am a Ron Paul supporter, I enjoy a man like Tim Russert because he's an honest and straight forwar, hard hitting journalist. If you support a candidate you need to see him under the gun. For those that don't validate this type of interview, you don't understand the purpose and RESPONSIBILITY of the press. HIS SKILL IS PART OF WHY HE WAS MURDERED!
@Marakulous43 If you think wanting the truth makes you an idiot well you have mastered the word. Answer this you smart fuck, why did building 7 fall? Let's go answer that one first. They get tougher so I suggest you just go back to watching cops and drink your beer and shut the fuck up.
"You say your a constitutionalist but you want to amend the constitution."
"That's constitutional, what's your point?"
This whole interview was a sham. Nothing but biased attacks. it literally looked like he had attack after attack lined up and all he was trying to do was make ron paul stumble.
If i was there i would've just walked out after 10 minutes its amazing he stayed that long and made Tim Russert look more like a babbling idiot.
Shame on all these interviewers who try so hard to "trip-up" their guests. You are not interested in your guests view... you interupt them before they finish...you sound more interested in finding fault...in semantical criticism. Why don't you just let your guests present their views and let we, the listeners decide. You act like a judge and jury all in one....shameful journalism.
Regarding the earmarks; Ron Paul works for the people. When they request that he puts that into the bill as an earmark, he does what they wish. He is given the choice to vote on the merits of the bill and he does not believe that an earmark is valid.
@jwmarco21 What he's saying is he doesn't support dedicating x% of taxes to go on public expenditures, however, his constituents would benefit from existing earmarks, and therefore for the benefit of his district he would take the money from them since they exist anyway, but he never votes FOR public expenditures. Since the earmarks exist, his constituents already payed for them via high taxes, so like tax credits, he's not against them redeeming it in the form of earmarks.
Tim Russert is the only one who actually legitimately debates Ron Paul. I mean, I support Ron Paul, and Tim definitely takes him to task here, no doubt. But at least he's not dismissing him as a cook, but rather debating him on issues of substance. I miss Tim Russert.
They need to stop quoting him from 20 years ago, how many times has every other candidate flip flopped in 20 years? Tim is grasping at straws in every single attempt he makes to trip Ron up.
TIm really lit up the BBQ but Paul handled himself well.
