£2k for a fixed gearbox, £6k for engine rebuild.  Not a project for those short of money. Best route - clean post 88 Carrera 3.2 for under £9k, spend £3k making it mint and sell for £15k.

dropping the engine plus gearbox out of the bottom of the car is a briliant idea and it worked really well, will have to remember that if i ever own one.

did anyone else notice that the two rear tyres were mismatched, it really annoys me when people do this, and they did it on a porsche!!!!

Edd makes this job look way too easy. Dropping the engine on an old Porsche is one of the most difficult jobs ever. You would be shocked at how many old little pieces of rubber you accidentally break, or screws you don't see. I seriously can't believe how easy Edd makes it look, this is one of the toughest jobs you can do. He mentions that it took them all morning, I would plan an entire weekend if I were going to do it myself.
