Damn, look at that Peavey backline.....Maces, and JBL speakers. Modded properly, those old hybrids can WAIL. Great cover of an ABB tune by the last of the true Southern-Rock bands to come up in the 1970's.
I saw Molly Hatchet this tour opening for a hair band, think was called Angel. I saw them in Southbend at the Morris Civic Auditorium. Was great. This guy in the first row handed Danny Joe a brand new full pint of Jack Daniels Old No. 7. Danny broke the seal on the bottle and downed the whole thing in one swig, then handed the guy back an empty bottle. The longer the concert went, the better he got too with southern rock fire in his belly. Blew the Angel or whoever that was away.
seein Duane Dave Steve Banner Bruce and Danny Joe-Dont let ANYONE say the new crap is Molly Hatchet-saw them 31 times and im a Yank-they were and always will be MY band-i guess for all you kids i started loving THIS band in 1978
Duane! - Can't you just hear Danny calling out that name?
Brothers we are. Born and raised in what is known as the Alabama part of Pennsylvania, those guys were the definitive band of my life from 15 to early adulthood. We were lucky, dude. The 80's were mostly lost for me as far as music. Not bitchin though. Summertime is our best MH time now. We still put a keg in the tub, ice it up, and pass around a 1/2 gallon of Granddad up at our cabin, blastin' the real Hatchet for miles.
This is a great song from the debut cd. I recently have pulled out all my Hatchet cd catalog....it is good to give them some play again. Danny Joe...you were the best. Molly Hatchet for all us southern boys.
HOLY CRAP!! Is it great seeing this stuff again!!! Remember the songs and saw the band in concert! Jammin' guitars and great vocals. KILLER album cover... Rock on Hatchet!!!!
Ill never forget in 1982 DJB came in a bar i was playing with my band in jax and he sat in with us on this song, it was awesome, his voice was huge live, truely dreams ill never see again.
First concert, Molly Hatchet @ the New Haven Coliseum. I believe it was in November. Danny Joe left the band soon before...damnit. :(. Anyway...amazing fucking show...I still remember it like yesterday. This brings me back to the redneck days :).
Is this Kyle? I work with Banner Thomas. I agree with you. Bobby needs to do the right thing, but he never will. No balls. He lived his whole professional career riding real men's coat tails.
If you want to hear some good ole southern rock, with the heartfelt soulful voice sung from the heart, go to michaelallman on my space. You will not be disappointed.
All I can say is R.I.P. Danny Joe Brown. You are greatly missed especially now in a world that is dying of starvation and hungry to feed their soul for a singer like you today!
As for the video, I don't care if its not great quality, back then they didn't expect video today like we have now, that was all the technology they had... I'm just 1000x thankful to even see this.
Used to see these guys in the mid 70's in the bars in Jacksonville Fla. Banner Thomas played until recently in the Jacksonville area with a band called Big Engine. He is just as good as ever.
Saw these guys in 1980 at the Carowinds Paladium Amphitheatre, what a show. And yes they played hard and from the heart, not just going through the motions. Not to sound cliche, but they truely do not make bands or music like this anymore.
The very same line-up that I saw doing this song at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium (in L.A.) in late 1978 for three dollars!! Saw them twice in Florida between the opener .38 Special and the headlining Outlaws. By the time I got back to L.A. a couple of years later, the billing had been reversed! (Go figure?? I guess L.A. has always been about trendy pop songs. Real rockers need not apply!!!)Thanks for the memories, lednareff.
I saw them three times. Once in 79', again in 1980 and a third time in the late 80s. . . all in California. They were my favorite band back then. And that other poster is right- Banner Thomas is a rippin bass player. Danny Joe Brown didn't live very long, but he gave us memories like this. R.I.P. DJB.
this is awesome....this sounds even better than the album version....check out that bass line going on - stays simple but then goes into a crazy fill!

Couldn't agree more. Saw them on the "Flirtin'" tour back in the winter of 1979 I believe, in Salem, VA. Stood right next to the left floor speaker and probably suffered some hearing damage as a result (but it was worth it!). I'll never forget them doing "Whiskey Man" and Danny Joe doing some heavy damage to a bottle of Jack Black at the same time...great memories...
these guys blow skynyrd'doors off!!!I've seen both bands and I am tellin you that Molly Hatchet has got it all.they have it all over skynyrd-voice,guitar leads, licks, drummer, everything.

Uhhh, a certain Mr. Scooter Herring might not agree with that assessment! (well, he would, if he hadn't died last year, that is). For those of you not around in the mid-70's, just do a web search on that name and see how Greg snitched on his own cocaine supplier and sent him to prison so he could save his own ass from jail. Snitch may be a hell of a singer, but anybody that pulls a stunt like that is low-life scum in my book...
No shit, I need medicinal weed , I am in se veer 24 hour nerve damage pain. I had my dead arm removed to get on with my life. I hate the government and rats. Greg blew it. Thank You so much! What disapointment! You do the crime ,you do the time! What a scum bag! There are alot of rock n roll/pop/country/jazz hurrey for me- fuck you scum bags out there that ratted when they got busted, thank again Twilight

I still can't believe that there are people publicly bashing Bobby.
Why didn't anyone bash Duane for selling Bobby the name & trademark?
When Dave needed a job who gave him one? Bobby did.
Who is one of the VERY few people not to bash Dave? Bobby (Banner too).
I've known Bobby for 20 yrs and he's NEVER publicly bashed anyone & believe me he's had more than enough chances and reasons to do it.
