  • Danny Joe ruled. RIP. I'll be with ya soon, ma bruthah

  • Damn, look at that Peavey backline.....Maces, and JBL speakers. Modded properly, those old hybrids can WAIL. Great cover of an ABB tune by the last of the true Southern-Rock bands to come up in the 1970's.

  • I wish I could "Like" this 100 x s ....!!! My first concert ever when I was 16 yrs old....I'm ummmm a little older now....lol

  • I saw Molly Hatchet this tour opening for a hair band, think was called Angel. I saw them in Southbend at the Morris Civic Auditorium. Was great. This guy in the first row handed Danny Joe a brand new full pint of Jack Daniels Old No. 7. Danny broke the seal on the bottle and downed the whole thing in one swig, then handed the guy back an empty bottle. The longer the concert went, the better he got too with southern rock fire in his belly. Blew the Angel or whoever that was away.

  • Martin Tennessee!!! best concert ever

  • seein Duane Dave Steve Banner Bruce and Danny Joe-Dont let ANYONE say the new crap is Molly Hatchet-saw them 31 times and im a Yank-they were and always will be MY band-i guess for all you kids i started loving THIS band in 1978

  • Duane! - Can't you just hear Danny calling out that name?

Brothers we are. Born and raised in what is known as the Alabama part of Pennsylvania, those guys were the definitive band of my life from 15 to early adulthood. We were lucky, dude. The 80's were mostly lost for me as far as music. Not bitchin though. Summertime is our best MH time now. We still put a keg in the tub, ice it up, and pass around a 1/2 gallon of Granddad up at our cabin, blastin' the real Hatchet for miles.

  • @pitchforkpat I'll drink to that...sounds good..

  • THIS IS MOLLY HATCHET.

  • This is a great song from the debut cd. I recently have pulled out all my Hatchet cd catalog....it is good to give them some play again. Danny Joe...you were the best. Molly Hatchet for all us southern boys.

  • AMEN!

  • I want to see kinda like love but it's not

  • Danny Joe Brown is the "Mouth of the South"...period.

  • Gawd we are old - eh?! You can see me as a 20 year-old kid on the Double Trouble live album jacket. I saw this band 9 times. RIP Danny Joe.

  • I feel ya.... I 've seen them play half a dozen times they were some really down to earth people

  • does anyone know where i can get a copy of the jammin for danny joe brown concert

  • once again god bless danny joe and the boys from fla.

  • I still can't believe that there are people publicly bashing Bobby.

Why didn't anyone bash Duane for selling Bobby the name & trademark?

When Dave needed a job who gave him one? Bobby did.

Who is one of the VERY few people not to bash Dave? Bobby (Banner too).

I've known Bobby for 20 yrs and he's NEVER publicly bashed anyone & believe me he's had more than enough chances and reasons to do it.

  • Sweet tunes too!!!!

  • Living up here in Canada sure would like to meet some of these hunky southern men.Hotties.

  • hell im canadian! haha and also southern, best of both worlds

  • my first show was april 1979-louisville gardens. Long Live Hatchet.

  • HOLY CRAP!! Is it great seeing this stuff again!!! Remember the songs and saw the band in concert! Jammin' guitars and great vocals. KILLER album cover... Rock on Hatchet!!!!

  • this is too cool this is from don kirshners rock concert i saw this when it originaly aired when i was a kid

  • Ill never forget in 1982 DJB came in a bar i was playing with my band in jax and he sat in with us on this song, it was awesome, his voice was huge live, truely dreams ill never see again.

  • Awesome Jams !

  • my dad just love this band!!!

  • First concert, Molly Hatchet @ the New Haven Coliseum. I believe it was in November. Danny Joe left the band soon before...damnit. :(. Anyway...amazing fucking show...I still remember it like yesterday. This brings me back to the redneck days :).

  • I agree- you daves son?

  • Man ya'all,,, Just turned 48 and still lovin' these folks rock. 1979 was my last year of High School,,,I well never forget these fellas. God bless!!!

  • That's right this is hatchet, bobby ingram really should get off my dads coat tails ...

  • Is this Kyle? I work with Banner Thomas. I agree with you. Bobby needs to do the right thing, but he never will. No balls. He lived his whole professional career riding real men's coat tails.

  • to all -THIS IS MOLLY HATCHET

  • If you want to hear some good ole southern rock, with the heartfelt soulful voice sung from the heart, go to michaelallman on my space. You will not be disappointed.

  • All I can say is R.I.P. Danny Joe Brown. You are greatly missed especially now in a world that is dying of starvation and hungry to feed their soul for a singer like you today!

As for the video, I don't care if its not great quality, back then they didn't expect video today like we have now, that was all the technology they had... I'm just 1000x thankful to even see this.

  • OMG. I watched the original broadcast on TV when I was 15 and it changed my life. These dudes brought it!

  • Used to see these guys in the mid 70's in the bars in Jacksonville Fla. Banner Thomas played until recently in the Jacksonville area with a band called Big Engine. He is just as good as ever.

  • THIS is MOLLY HATCHET

  • Great tune but a TERRIBLE video.

  • Saw these guys in 1980 at the Carowinds Paladium Amphitheatre, what a show. And yes they played hard and from the heart, not just going through the motions. Not to sound cliche, but they truely do not make bands or music like this anymore.

  • 1978!!!!!!

  • I bet these guys were great lovers as well as great musicians I'll

  • Most music is just played. These fella's played from their heart's. Something that aint around much anymore.

  • RIP Danny Joe Brown. I saw Molly Hatchet in 1978 opening for the the Outlaws. This is song is 10 times better then the the Allman Brothers version.

  • 10 times, Really? There's only one problem with that statement. They didn't write this masterpiece.

  • THIS is MOLLY HATCHET.

  • Blackfoot and Molly Hatchet would KICK YOUR ASS if ya fucked with them!

  • One of my top ten favorite songs...

  • The very same line-up that I saw doing this song at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium (in L.A.) in late 1978 for three dollars!! Saw them twice in Florida between the opener .38 Special and the headlining Outlaws. By the time I got back to L.A. a couple of years later, the billing had been reversed! (Go figure?? I guess L.A. has always been about trendy pop songs. Real rockers need not apply!!!)Thanks for the memories, lednareff.

  • This clip would have been a lot better if it had not been done with a camera pointed at a TV. Awesome song!

  • they dont make music like this anymore. almost 30 years after this its still one of the best songs i have ever heard

  • THIS IS MOLLY HATCHET.

  • ya gotta give it ta dwayne a.

  • Very simple...Ya DON"T FUCK WITH THE DANNY JOE BROWN...or you just might get your head blowed off!.

  • right on lou

  • my childhood.Long Live Hatchet. Nuff said

  • Love this song-thanks for uploading this.

    Great band...

  • danny joe could kick your teeth out with that voice. god bless him. long live southern rock

  • I saw them three times. Once in 79', again in 1980 and a third time in the late 80s. . . all in California. They were my favorite band back then. And that other poster is right- Banner Thomas is a rippin bass player. Danny Joe Brown didn't live very long, but he gave us memories like this. R.I.P. DJB.

  • this is awesome....this sounds even better than the album version....check out that bass line going on - stays simple but then goes into a crazy fill!

  • Rock on!!! One of my favorite songs...AWESOME BAND!!! AWESOME MUSICIANS!!! Rest in peace Danny...a great addition to that spectacluar band in Rock and Roll Heaven.

  • Real dudes, real rock, simple formula not easily repeated anymore--Thanks for posting and thanks to Don Kirchner!

  • blow me JTH

  • thanks for the good old days

  • Arabonis you are a fucking blow hard prick, like the other said go listen to the Emo garbage out today. and while you are at go slit your fucking wrist and do us all a favorand die

  • First off you dont need to b making fun of rednecks because we are the only ones who are the Civle ones left in this Insane world. You need to go find some other Gender or race or religin to make fun of because if you said that in front of one your ass been shot dead, Now go listen to your shit hole Rap music and leave us "Rednecks" Alone! Yah heard me Boyy?

The Allman Brothers r my dads cousins :P

  • i think people need to calm down. comparing hatchett to allman brothers band is insane, but that doesnt mean molly hatchett isnt a good band

  • How does one lynch a goose?

  • dude why dont you shut up and learn what real music sounds like!

  • Arabonis:

What do you listen to....RAP and DISCO?

  • What the hell were they arguing about? Molly Hatchet rocked back then!!!!! I still love listening to 'em! (and I do listen to all other kinds of music)

  • ok Arabonis you bum let me tell u some thing boy red necks rock ok and you cant insult molly hatchet because they are a hell of alot better than this rap shit you kids are listin to now hell all they ever talk about is drugs, sex, and Runin from the boys in blue long live molly hatchet

  • Arabonis? More like Ara Bone Smuggler! Probably got your underwear stickin' out of your pants, some goofy fucking tattoos and are a wannabe Eminem-type piece of trash. Fuck you asshole. Go get yourself a 40 and plan your next gang rape on the way to the welfare office.

  • Arabonis, I don't tell racist jokes anymore. Racism is a crime, and crime is for NIGGERS!!!!

  • LOL! Get him Pitchfork! AWESOME!

  • This just shows what you know, Arabonis, which is absofukkinlutley nothing.

  • R.I P DJB

  • HELL YA BOY!!!!

  • another great jax fl band. i used to watch them play at dinos disco for 1.00 cover

  • Couldn't agree more. Saw them on the "Flirtin'" tour back in the winter of 1979 I believe, in Salem, VA. Stood right next to the left floor speaker and probably suffered some hearing damage as a result (but it was worth it!). I'll never forget them doing "Whiskey Man" and Danny Joe doing some heavy damage to a bottle of Jack Black at the same time...great memories...

  • these guys blow skynyrd'doors off!!!I've seen both bands and I am tellin you that Molly Hatchet has got it all.they have it all over skynyrd-voice,guitar leads, licks, drummer, everything.

  • if they are so bad of a band then why would you give the time to post two identicle comments rippin on them..

  • you are an idiot/ molly hatchet rocks, you probably think rap is good music . notice how many people disagree with your comments!!!

  • Well,Fraztta might have attracted some attention, but this music (first two albums) stands on its own... reqardless of album art. As stated before, Brother Greg A might have penned this tune but, Hatchet put it on the map.

    Craig

  • Fun shit man!

  • Saw em open up for Rush in Greensboro,NC.They were just out.Even the Rush fans wanted encores. Those were the days.I stilljam on their version of Dreams.

  • Do you have the other two songs from this

    show?

  • This was the best line up ever, so cool!

Saw them in Germany back in the days and i could´nt believe, what i saw! One of the best bands ever. And Bruce Crump is one of the most underrated drummers, he is so excellent!

  • Fully bad ass! Hatchet and Blackfoot will always be the true kings of Southern Rock; Skynyrd just can't hang!

  • Brother I am from Jacksonville Fl, where all of those bands are originally from and I must say U ARE CORRECT SIR!!!!!!

  • The Hatchet RULZ!

  • I love the Allmans but, Hatchet puts this song on the map. At the time ('78), I didn't know who the Allman Bros were. It was after hearing THIS song and realizing that brother Duane wrote it, that I discovered the Allmans. I was disappointed by the 'original' version of Dreams.... In my humble opinion, this album and Flirt'n optimize what this band was all about...

    Thanks,

    Craig

  • I saw MH in 78 soon after their 1st album came out, along with Nantucket.BOY!This vid really brings back some memories.I remember Tommy Redd(Nantucket)came out to play with them on Dreams. When Steve,Duane and Dave were all front swingn their guitars back and forth, Tommy jumped in and they all, like on cue, slung their guitars behind their heads and NEVER missed a beat! I ran into Tommy at a bar and he remembered that show. Actually he remembered more about it than I did!

    GOOD MEMORIES!

    reb

  • How did Nantucket sound live? I loved all their studio stuff too!

  • Unlike the rest of us who are getting old and wore out, Nantucket sounded just as good as they did back in the day.... Mind you... 30 years and a lot of suds has passed.... LOL

  • Sometimes I think a cover can stand alongside the original. This is one of those times. These guys were most excellent!

  • This is as good as live gets folks!!!

  • Its great but Lynyrd had em beat

  • molly hatchet puts skynyrd to bed, man.

  • Skynyrd IS southern rock !

  • skynyrd is the default, smut southern rock band. Tune your radio somewhere besides 94.9 Pop-sHit music, you'll see.

  • Dumbass !

  • THIS IS MOLLY HATCHET.

  • This is best Hatchet Ive ever seen. Young, hungry lean and mean. Ive also bought about 3 videos off ebay,,and they all are poor quality. This is mindblowing stuff, though.

  • FUCK YOU SKANKSTA

  • God Bless and Reast danny joe's soul, He was the greatest.Molly Hatchet will NEVER be the same ,Danny was mOLLY hATCHET,tHE GREATEST sOUTHERN rOCK BAND everrrrrr!!!!!

  • Thanks for your opinion.

    Now go fuck yourself.

  • LMAO. You tube is so entertaining.

  • you are correct sir!!

  • What a shame that we can't buy this performance on DVD. I've bought about 5 bootlegs of this on VHS and they all look like this shit. I would buy this in a second...

  • rivaled lynard skynard for best southern rock band!!!

  • Greg A. rules

  • Uhhh, a certain Mr. Scooter Herring might not agree with that assessment! (well, he would, if he hadn't died last year, that is). For those of you not around in the mid-70's, just do a web search on that name and see how Greg snitched on his own cocaine supplier and sent him to prison so he could save his own ass from jail. Snitch may be a hell of a singer, but anybody that pulls a stunt like that is low-life scum in my book...

  • No shit, I need medicinal weed , I am in se veer 24 hour nerve damage pain. I had my dead arm removed to get on with my life. I hate the government and rats. Greg blew it. Thank You so much! What disapointment! You do the crime ,you do the time! What a scum bag! There are alot of rock n roll/pop/country/jazz hurrey for me- fuck you scum bags out there that ratted when they got busted, thank again Twilight
