You're good at dodging questions with cute throwaway answers. Are you any good at substance? Let's keep this simple--Can you explain how the equal protection clause of the 14th amendment doesn't make it unconstitutional to deny homosexuals the right to marriage when straight people are given that right?
--I will try. Laws pertaining to birds, for example, do not apply to Humans. By the same token, marriage does not apply to two men or two women. So, the Amendments to the Constitution don't provide for something that doesn't apply to such concepts.
That makes no sense whatsoever. The equal protection clause doesn't apply to birds but it does apply to humans, and that includes both men and women. It states that laws that apply to humans must apply equally to everyone. Thus it is unconstitutional to prevent gay's from marrying while allowing straights to do so.
Further, the Gov. really has no business licensing marriage in the first place, as marriage is a religious institution. In the days of the founders the Gov. had nothing to do with marriage. A ceremony and a notation in the family bible and you was hitched. They only started licensing marriage to prevent inter-racial marriage and now they are using it against gay marriage. The Gov. has no business saying who can and can't get married in the first place.
"The equal protection clause doesn't apply to birds but it does apply to humans"
--Wow, you really are as stupid as I thought you were. Where did I write that the equal protection clause applied to birds and not men? Do you have a brain?
"laws that apply to humans must apply equally to everyone"
--Yes, sooooo..... laws about a man and a woman marrying do not apply to a man and a man marrying, dufus.
Aside from your antics about birds you still haven't explained how prohibiting gay marriage isn't unconstitutional. Like I said before, you seem to be good at throwaway quips, but not much on substance.
"you still haven't explained how prohibiting gay marriage isn't unconstitutional"

"prison industrial complex"
--What is that? Tell you what, if you can convince all the criminals out there to stop committing crimes, then I think that will solve it.
@NoGuff -Civil union, so, seperate but equal? Reminds me of the whole premise behind segregation.
There is not enough space nor time for me to explain the prison industrial complex to you. However I'd be happy to direct you to a very well done documentary on the subject that provides substantial evidence and sources all of their information. Including from the people who run the prisons and cops who depend on busting low-level drug dealers.
--Separate in wording, not in action, not in access, not in legality, not in practice, not in any way that would make them unequal in any way. There are not separate facilities, treatment under law, freedom, or obligations. So the "civil rights" argument is a ruse, a bullshit argument, an unjust co-opting of something legitimate.
@NoGuff, a man who was paralyzed from the neck-down was caught with a joint of marijuana, sentenced to 10 days in jail, even though he says marijuana helps him with his pain and makes his quality of life easier to live. He was not given proper equipment, like his ventilator, he died. When his mother went to the jail to give the police his ventilator, the police, knowing that his son was dying/dead in a hospital, lied to her, sayign she couldn't visit.
"even though he says marijuana helps him with his pain"
--Thus, a prescription.
"He was not given proper equipment"
--My point is not about the conditions of our prisons. Honestly, if you consider what the conditions they could be, you'd realize you live in a pretty fucking great country.
Show the courts the invalid policies or conscious, malicious decisions leading to his death and prosecute them, and if there's a systemic problem with our penal system, point that out, too.
@NoGuff, he was not in a state that allowed medical marijuana, obviously he would have gotten one. I see that you don't care two shits about disabled and sick people being jailed for using a medicine that helps them, but whatever, lack of emapthy isn't against the law. If guns were made illegal would you turn your guns in? If straight marriage were made illegal would you not marry? I doubt it, something tells me you'd fight for your rights tooth and nail.
"he was not in a state that allowed medical marijuana"
--Well, that's where states rights come in. As Reagan is famous for saying, you can "vote with your feet." He should have moved to state that allowed it. The state of CA doesn't allow guns (practically), so the same rule applies to me.
"you don't care two shits about disabled and sick people being jailed for using a medicine that helps them"
--Where did I say that? Obviously you're unable to separate one topic from another.
"You can't allow marriage for some and not for others"
--We don't. Because "marriage" doesn't apply to two people of the same sex.
"Then we should be trying to act more like those people in other countries, right?"
--No shit. We agree on something. Good luck accomplishing it, though. The Left's advocacy of "no responsibility" has taken over and isn't going away soon.
@NoGuff, where is the justice in that? What about the fact that prohibition actually perpetuates crime? Perpetuates the use of illicit drugs? What about the fact that we spend more on drugs prohibition, have gone from eight private prisons in 1988 to 260+ today, and yet more drugs keep coming each year affect your opinion? I'm not just making this stuff up, you can find it easily, and I'll happily provide you links and documentaries and documents, but I won't hold your hand. Nor spoon feed you.
--Oh, so if someone wants to take my car, you're saying the only reasons the person is prosecuted for it is because its against the law? WELL NO SHIT. It should be. Wow, thanks for the news flash.
"private prisons"
--Because the govt can't do anything right.
"yet more drugs keep coming"
--Because of demand, not because its illegal. Change people's behavior and you'll solve it. Used to be drug use was socially scorned, now its cool.
@NoGuff "Change people's behavior and you'll solve it."
Okay bright guy, how? We've seen conclusive evidence that countries that decriminalize drug use have lower rates of drug abuse. Do you support how cannabis was made illegal, do you even know?
--Ummm.... that was the point, dummy. You can't. Thus, we have jails for those who simply won't live in a society with rules. Don't get me wrong, I'm totally against our new trend of overcriminalization. But you can't steal someone's car, kill, etc.
"decriminalize drug use have lower rates of drug abuse"
--Coclusive evidence also shows people in other countries are far more responsible than Americans.
@NoGuff, you know I was talking about prohibition of drugs, I made it quite clear. There is plenty of evidence to back up every claim I made. I've put over 100 research hours into a report I'm working on. I've spoken with hundreds of people about the subject and have even argued for prohibition as an intellectual excercise. I'd happily share the report with you, every bit of information is cited, every opinion placed backed by fact. I put A LOT of work into it and plan on sharing it
"prohibition of drugs, I made it quite clear. There is plenty of evidence to back up every claim I made"
--Okay, do me a favor and make all drugs legal in, lets say, in the metro Detroit area. Then lets see if that area improves over the next 10yrs. Then I'll take back everything I said about prohibition of drugs.
@hotblud82 Orin Hatch wants to expand jail-space where I live because we are having to let go violent offenders to house drug offenders. They tried making it a criminal investigation for miscarriages here. The republicans here keep taking from education and pouring it into our jails and prisons, military and police. This is the awakening you're thanking your god for? Should we jail the 30 million cannabis users in the U.S? Perpetuate organized crime some more?
@NoGuff, And I'm sorry you think that my brother doesn't deserve to marry his boyfriend who he has been loyal to far longer than most straight couples I know. But for you to say "seperate but equal" isn't good enough, it's bullshit and if you are a reasonable person you'd see that. My brother is sick of being harassed for being who he is. Marriage was never just between a man and a woman, it has been a fluid system since it's been around and history proves that.
"I'm sorry you think that my brother doesn't deserve to marry his boyfriend"
--Don't be sorry, I'm not. I'm more concerned with the moral corruption of our culture than whether or not your brother and his "boyfriend" feel great about their "nuptuals." Homosexuals are less than 5% of our population. More than that believe Elvis is still alive. So I'm not inclined to give them special rights & help them etch away at our moral foundation.
@NoGuff, and finally, I'd take offense to how you view my brother's relationship, but it's a waste of energy for both of us. But if you think that a minority shouldn't be protected simply because it's a minority, I feel sorry for you. They aren't asking for extra rights, they're asking for equal rights. Just like many people have before them, and people like you argued "We don't want to give them extra rights, blacks have their own drinking fountain." etc.
"I'd take offense to how you view my brother's relationship"
--Good thing you don't have the right to not be offended. At least for now. We'll see what the Left does about that great injustice plaguing our nation, won't we?
"because it's a minority"
--A minority of what? By their own admission gays are from all walks of life!! Think about that for just a minute. If I liked to fuck amputees with Down Syndrome would you accept me calling myself a member of a minority group?
"If I liked to fuck amputees with Down Syndrome would you accept me calling myself a member of a minority group?"
Yes. A minority called rapists. And we'd send you to prison for it. On the other hand, as long as your sexual preference was toward another consenting adult with no mental disability then you can call yourself whatever you want and if you're in the minority then you are a minority.
--Where did I say "force" or "unconsenting?" You assume. Why are you so bigoted? Why do you hate my minority so much? I deserve rights!!
"then you are a minority"
--WOW!!! Amazing.
So nothing has any meaning anymore, does it? I could call myself an astronaut if I wanted and people like you would say no one could claim I wasn't. And if you did say I was wrong you'd be a total hypocrite. Well, you're a hypocrite regardless.
@NoGuff, the difference between you wanting to fuck an amputee and homosexuality is several things:
1) homosexuals do not choose to be homosexuals, they are born that way. That is a fact, you can deny it as propeganda but that doesn't mean it isn't true. You're a big boy, you can research it.
2) They have their own culture, and there are millions of them that embrace it.
Under that criteria you wouldn't fit in as an "amputee fucker" minority. You'd just have a sexual fetish, that's it.
1) And I was born this way, too. Why are you such a BIGOT? Why are you trying to take away my rights? Ignorant people like you belong in jail because you're dangerous. Why must I live in fear of hatemongers like you?
2) Oh, please, that made me laugh so hard it hurt! Their own culture? To you 2 people could have "their own culture" just because they have a common interest.
@NoGuff, no one's trying to take your rights away NoGuff. And I ask you again, where are these civil unions at? And what about medicinal marijuana? You said I can just get a prescription for it, and that gays have civil unions, where? You don't seem very well educated on these subjects that you are arguing over.
--If your state allows it. Where did I mislead you about that?
"You don't seem very well educated on these subjects"
--Well, you've had several opportunities, including that one, to show me where I wrote anything that was wrong. But you haven't. You simply keep making an empty, unsubstantiated accusation. Like a 4 year old would.
@NoGuff, actually, don't bother replying to me, after going through your posts I can see you're either trolling to get a rise out of everyone, or that you are just too fixed on your views that you won't change them. The problem being that you've been wrong about several things so far and that you deny the historical context behind gay marriage, so I don't know what exactly I could say to you at this point, other than just wasting my time. Your dishonest misquoting of me is ridiculous.
--People who troll don't write things that are true, don't back up their claims, nor do they hold to a viable belief system. They just toss insults. Show me where I've tossed around insults. This is just another attempt by you to marginalize me & my facts & opinions. How lame.
"you won't change them"
--I changed them years ago, after giving them a great deal of thought. What you've offered isn't enough to warrant a change.
--Copy & paste, liar. Once again, you've had several opportunities to back up your claim, including that one, to offer evidence of your claim. And you didn't. Again.
@Mystylplx, he just doesn't understand that. On top of it all he thinks that homosexual civil unions and medicinal marijuana is legal throughout the country.
@NoGuff "Seperate, but equal" does NOT work. So, other than to say you'd be interested in taking a look at my report and giving me an educated rebuttal on it, whether you support my position or not, we're done here. Goodbye :)
"My brother is sick of being harassed for being who he is"
--From me, tell him "welcome to life."
"Marriage was never just between a man and a woman, it has been a fluid system"
--Yes, I've heard that one, too. That's the latest in the Propaganda Talking Points from the Left. The Left also believes a baby isn't Human until it has self-awareness around the age of two years. Helps in the argument for when you want to kill an unborn baby, doesn't it?
@NoGuff. wow, way to belittle the struggle of the homosexual community. How very honest of you...
Marriage HAS been fluid and changed vastly. What are you going to tell me next, that America is a Christian nation? History has proven me right. Yet all you can say is that it's leftist propeganda? Really, that is your only rebuke? You obviously haven't studied the history of such things that much...
--Way to package an incredibly diverse group of people based soley on their sexual fetishes to sound like a coherent civil rights movement. Thus, propaganda.
"Marriage HAS been fluid and changed vastly"
--You seem to have ALL the Talking Points, don't you?
"America is a Christian nation?"
--It is. Well, not to Obama. To him its the world's largest Muslim nation, even though Muslims are less than 2% of our population. Thus, propaganda.
@NoGuff, oh, and way to exaggerate what the majority of liberals believe about abortion. I can see that there is no rational debate here with you, goodbye :) I wish you the best, and I'm sorry that you think people like my brother aren't genuinely struggling. Have you ever been jumped and beaten within an inch of your life because you're a heterosexual republican male? Or called derogatory names due to the sex you're attracted to? Or told you can't marry another consenting adult?

--Where did I say that? Obviously you're unable to separate one topic from another.

@hoboboxerjoe
"If guns were made illegal would you turn your guns in?"
--No, because my right to own them is above the government's ability to take away.
"If straight marriage were made illegal would you not marry?"
--Well, the Left hasn't gotten that far yet, but you seem to think that "gay marriage" was the standard in American law. It wasn't.
"fight for your rights"
--Show me where "gay marriage" is noted as a right.
NoGuff 1 year ago
@NoGuff
"--Show me where "gay marriage" is noted as a right."
The equal protection clause of the 14th amendment. You can't allow marriage for some and not for others.
"--Coclusive evidence also shows people in other countries are far more responsible than Americans."
Then we should be trying to act more like those people in other countries, right? Instead of insisting on acting the opposite?
Mystylplx 1 year ago
@Mystylplx

"prohibition actually perpetuates crime?"
NoGuff 1 year ago
@NoGuff "Change people's behavior and you'll solve it."
Okay bright guy, how? We've seen conclusive evidence that countries that decriminalize drug use have lower rates of drug abuse. Do you support how cannabis was made illegal, do you even know?
hoboboxerjoe 1 year ago
@hoboboxerjoe
"Okay bright guy, how?"
--Ummm.... that was the point, dummy.
Cocaine & heroine were also legal at a time.
NoGuff 1 year ago
@NoGuff, you know I was talking about prohibition of drugs, I made it quite clear. There is plenty of evidence to back up every claim I made. I've put over 100 research hours into a report I'm working on. I've spoken with hundreds of people about the subject and have even argued for prohibition as an intellectual excercise. I'd happily share the report with you, every bit of information is cited, every opinion placed backed by fact. I put A LOT of work into it and plan on sharing it

"prohibition of drugs, I made it quite clear. There is plenty of evidence to back up every claim I made"

Marriage was never just between a man and a woman, it has been a fluid system since it's been around and history proves that.
hoboboxerjoe 1 year ago
@hoboboxerjoe
NoGuff 1 year ago
@NoGuff, and finally, I'd take offense to how you view my brother's relationship, but it's a waste of energy for both of us. But if you think that a minority shouldn't be protected simply because it's a minority, I feel sorry for you. They aren't asking for extra rights, they're asking for equal rights. Just like many people have before them, and people like you argued "We don't want to give them extra rights, blacks have their own drinking fountain." etc.
hoboboxerjoe 1 year ago
@hoboboxerjoe
NoGuff 1 year ago
@NoGuff
"A minority of what?"
Uh... gays?
"If I liked to fuck amputees with Down Syndrome would you accept me calling myself a member of a minority group?"
Yes. A minority called rapists. And we'd send you to prison for it. On the other hand, as long as your sexual preference was toward another consenting adult with no mental disability then you can call yourself whatever you want and if you're in the minority then you are a minority.
Mystylplx 1 year ago
@Mystylplx
"A minority called rapists"
--Where did I say "force" or "unconsenting?" You assume. Why are you so bigoted? Why do you hate my minority so much? I deserve rights!!
"then you are a minority"
--WOW!!! Amazing.
So nothing has any meaning anymore, does it? I could call myself an astronaut if I wanted and people like you would say no one could claim I wasn't. And if you did say I was wrong you'd be a total hypocrite. Well, you're a hypocrite regardless.
NoGuff 1 year ago
@NoGuff, the difference between you wanting to fuck an amputee and homosexuality is several things:
1) homosexuals do not choose to be homosexuals, they are born that way. That is a fact, you can deny it as propeganda but that doesn't mean it isn't true. You're a big boy, you can research it.
2) They have their own culture, and there are millions of them that embrace it.
Under that criteria you wouldn't fit in as an "amputee fucker" minority. You'd just have a sexual fetish, that's it.
hoboboxerjoe 1 year ago
@hoboboxerjoe
"you wouldn't fit in"
--Hater bigot!! You're just a racist.
Convenient rule system you have there.
NoGuff 1 year ago
@NoGuff, no one's trying to take your rights away NoGuff. And I ask you again, where are these civil unions at? And what about medicinal marijuana? You said I can just get a prescription for it, and that gays have civil unions, where? You don't seem very well educated on these subjects that you are arguing over.
hoboboxerjoe 1 year ago
@hoboboxerjoe
"where are these civil unions at"
--In several states, including CA.
"You said I can just get a prescription for it"
--If your state allows it. Where did I mislead you about that?
"You don't seem very well educated on these subjects"
--Well, you've had several opportunities, including that one, to show me where I wrote anything that was wrong. But you haven't. You simply keep making an empty, unsubstantiated accusation. Like a 4 year old would.
NoGuff 1 year ago
@NoGuff, actually, don't bother replying to me, after going through your posts I can see you're either trolling to get a rise out of everyone, or that you are just too fixed on your views that you won't change them. The problem being that you've been wrong about several things so far and that you deny the historical context behind gay marriage, so I don't know what exactly I could say to you at this point, other than just wasting my time. Your dishonest misquoting of me is ridiculous.
hoboboxerjoe 1 year ago
@hoboboxerjoe
"you're either trolling"
--People who troll don't write things that are true, don't back up their claims, nor do they hold to a viable belief system. They just toss insults. Show me where I've tossed around insults. This is just another attempt by you to marginalize me & my facts & opinions. How lame.
"you won't change them"
--I changed them years ago, after giving them a great deal of thought. What you've offered isn't enough to warrant a change.
NoGuff 1 year ago

@NoGuff. wow, way to belittle the struggle of the homosexual community.

--You seem to have ALL the Talking Points, don't you?
"America is a Christian nation?"

"Or told you can't marry another consenting adult?"
--He and all other gays have an equal right as I do to marry someone of the opposite sex. That's a fact.
