Sturm's probably more overpowered than Caulder/Stolos, but COs in Days of Ruin were handled differently in that game. You could fight Sturm with some seriously broken shit, while you had to fight fair against a decidedly unfair bastard in Caulder.
I miss the variety and awesomeness of Sturm in Dual Strike... He was just wicked unique. Annoyingly opposite to this, in dual strike Jugger and Koal are identical in description and CO powers to Flak and Adder respectively. Von bolt is ok, but nothing compared to the majesty of a meteor crushing the enemy tanks.
Sturm and Von Bolt's power stars (Super Power) are the same....but the Super Power of the 2 are different. Ex Machina vs. Meteor Strike! Who will win?

In the end of Advance Wars 2, with Sturm's missile platform mortally damaged, and unable to launch a missile to destroy Wars World, he decides he has nothing left to lose, and prepares to self destruct the missile platform, killing himself and all the other Macro Land COs. However, Hawke then shows up, tells Sturm it's time for him to go, and then uses Black Storm to kill him. Hawke then takes the other Black Hole COs and leaves.
@AxelDarkHero2 Thing about Kanbei, is that if you were to compare AW2 Sturm vs. AW or AWDS Kanbei, they'd be the same. AW2 is the only game to have Kanbei at 130%/130%, otherwise, it's 120%/120%.
While his power builds slowly, YOU WOULDN'T KNOW IT IN THE FINAL BATTLES! You have to take out so many of his units so it feels like he's always dropping those damn meteors o_o
Sometimes I try to recreate Sturm's unpenaltied movement by using the Prairie Dog (Plains Movement = 1) and Pathfinder (Woods Movement = 1) forces in Dual Strike, but I'm still not there with penalties over mountains, reefs, and rivers.
@PSISpecter That's up for debate. Competitively, it's considered the most balanced of the games. Story-wise, it feels a lot more in-depth, at least to me.

People exaggerate how hard it can be to defeat people with the right tags in DS. I easily beat, in a match with even odds, Kanbei and Sonja tagged. They're really, really weak compared to what I usually hear about them. (And I only used my tag powers 1 time that match)
Plus, I read that's there's so little single-player content. Infact, all the game has is:Campaign, VS. Mode, WFC Battles, Map editor, and that's pretty much about it, atleast of what I heard. Plus, I also hear that it's near impossible to find a battle online, anyway. Where's the others? Survival mode was great, combat mode was good for when you didn't feel like strategy, the War Room has been around forever and is a good way to add more replay value, AND WHERE IS THE SHOP?!

I can't believe I actually managed to take down Sturm in The Final Battle in the first game. I had Grit, Andy, and Kanbei. Grit destroyed planes and copters with missiles, Kanbei fought back Sturm's line of tanks and infantries, and Andy stole away Sturm's cities to lower his funds. It was all an act of teamwork, and after 24 days, I FINALLY managed to reach and capture his HQ...
@justjoyas I do agree, but I give a close second to Caulder; his CO range is 3, which is pretty good size, and every unit inside gets +5 attack (Letting infantry kill recon), +5 defense (Letting infantry survive an A-Air attack), and gets repaired 5 at the beginning of his turn. So you'd have to take them down to 4 during your turn(With the +defense) just to get them down to 9 at the beginning of his when he attacks you (with the +attack) Only reason he isn't first: They didn't give him a power.
I learned to hate this song, because Sturm was so overpowered. 120/120 attack and defense with no movement penalties is bad enough. But then there's his power, which despite what the game or meter may say, builds very quickly, since you engage him so much.
@SIFAssassin That's always been it for both games he's been in. In the Final Battle in the first game, 3 CO's vs. Sturm, it fills around every 4 or so turns.
@SIFAssassin The one time I beat him, I was paniced, I had Kanbei pushing Sturm's forces back, but Sturm's meteor strike was fully charged. So I had 9 infantries for Grit, who didn't really do anything until the end, and he actually attacked them instead. I was so happy that I didn't have to rebuild my front line...AGAIN.
First time I beat it way back when, I had him backed up after getting nutsacked by his fucking power like 3 times. Started shouting maniacally and on the final shot said "HEAR MY NAME AND TREMBLE, FUCKER!!!!!" My mother asked me what the hell I was doing.

Seriously...it makes you change the obvious strategy of grouping your armies together. My favorite strategy of "Overwhelming" the enemy gets screwed over.
Whenever I heard this, I was panicing about Sturm's next move to destroy me. Unfortunitely, he isn't as cool as I thought he was, as it would've been nice to have his master plan be more unpredictable than "Total World Conquest".

You confused me for so long one what you meant. I kept looking at AW1 Black Hole Infantry, just to realize it's color-swapped Orange Star Infantry. But then when I started playing AW2, I finally got what you meant.
Is Black Hole some sort of fictional re-creation of Nazi Germany? One guy is even named Flak (German for anti-aircraft cannon), Sturm is also a German word (storm). Not to mention his hat looks exactly like those German generals had..
@194219692009 Orange Star: USA, Blue Moon: Russia, Yellow Comet: Japan, Green Earth: Germany. The four main countries are supposed to replicate the four main powers during WWII. The Black Hole Army was put in to have a main antagonist team. They arent based on any country so as not to offend anyone. They're probably from space.
@redmage2000 I knew that but it's just so wierd to me that Green Earth (Germany) and Black Hole (Nazi Germany in Space/ Sith Empire (Space Nazis are more of a group than a country so it works) are in the same place as enemies
It's interresting how so few people know about this, but after the Timesplitter invasion was over, R-110 who disappeared from Cortez and the others ended up in another world. Alone and furious, he found himself a neat hat and robe, and began conquering the world of the humans. After his first attempt failed, he somehow managed to recruit some other people, among them his old friend Cortez, who now called himself Flak.

I feel like the only person who likes Von Bolt BUT I also have to agree that Sturm is better. All I'm saying is Von Bolt is not the worst CO in my opinion but he isn't the best but he's still fun to play as and at least a bit more balanced than Sturm like when I play against my friends if I used Von Bolt they would be less likely to punch me in the nuts than if I used Sturm.
Who thinks there should be a sequel to Advance Wars: Days of Ruin where the settlement of New Hope comes into conflict with other survivor settlements and a global war breaks out. But in the midst of the War, Aliens suddenly invade and the survivor settlements had to team up together to defeat the Aliens. We even get to see Sturm as one of the Aliens CO's and he was responsible for causing the Meteorite Show that wiped out 90% of humans
Hmm...I honestly have a hard time choosing between Caulder or Sturm. Yes, Sturm is awesome, his units are overpowered but not unstoppable, and his theme is cool.But Caulder is FREAKING INSANE, and the final battle on Days of Ruin is also insane, it's one of the hardest final battles I've ever played, and his theme really matches up with him well. He's a complete physcopath, and his motivation for all his evils and horrors is his own curiosity. Meanwhile Sturm just wants to conquer the world. Eh.
@DefendinMyBase Caulder is just your run of the mill mad scientist. Sturm on the other hand is a steampunk alien Darth Vader who drops fucking ASTERIODS on people. Even his name is badass, it's German for storm! Caulder has nothing on this guy.
@stabbybelkar Oh come on now, Caulder isn't steryotypical, he doesn't seek power, domination, or wealth, just a quest to satisfy his unquenchable curiosity. Sturm is awesome, don't get me wrong, but the whole, conquer and power stick has been used a whole lot. It works with Sturm well, it's just been used a lot. You don't see many villians that kill millions just to measure their fear and perspiration levels.
They're both great, I just find that Caulder is more well developed and....insane.

@GmanGregilla The Black Hole Army seems to be based on a terminator-esque military due to their entire army being almost-robot like. Note that there's no humans controlling the tanks, or guys inside their helicopters.
@matrixbullettime3 Green Earth troops look much more like the German infantry from WWII. They have the same helmet and appear to be wielding MP40's and fire and forget rocket launchers (the first in the world...I also can' recall their name's unfirtunently) the German's used in WWII. Black Hole looks more like aliens with the suits concealing their faces and the breathing masks they wear and the fact that most of their vehicles are roundish like many stereotypical alien craft are portrayed as.

Is Black Hole some sort of fictional re-creation of Nazi Germany? One guy is even named Flak (German for anti-aircraft cannon), Sturm is also a German word (storm). Not to mention his hat looks exactly like those German generals had..

@194219692009 Orange Star: USA, Blue Moon: Russia, Yellow Comet: Japan, Green Earth: Germany. The four main countries are supposed to replicate the four main powers during WWII. The Black Hole Army was put in to have a main antagonist team. They arent based on any country so as not to offend anyone. They're probably from space.

It's interresting how so few people know about this, but after the Timesplitter invasion was over, R-110 who disappeared from Cortez and the others ended up in another world. Alone and furious, he found himself a neat hat and robe, and began conquering the world of the humans. After his first attempt failed, he somehow managed to recruit some other people, among them his old friend Cortez, who now called himself Flak.

I feel like the only person who likes Von Bolt BUT I also have to agree that Sturm is better. All I'm saying is Von Bolt is not the worst CO in my opinion but he isn't the best but he's still fun to play as and at least a bit more balanced than Sturm like when I play against my friends if I used Von Bolt they would be less likely to punch me in the nuts than if I used Sturm.

Who thinks there should be a sequel to Advance Wars: Days of Ruin where the settlement of New Hope comes into conflict with other survivor settlements and a global war breaks out. But in the midst of the War, Aliens suddenly invade and the survivor settlements had to team up together to defeat the Aliens. We even get to see Sturm as one of the Aliens CO's and he was responsible for causing the Meteorite Show that wiped out 90% of humans

Hmm...I honestly have a hard time choosing between Caulder or Sturm. Yes, Sturm is awesome, his units are overpowered but not unstoppable, and his theme is cool.But Caulder is FREAKING INSANE, and the final battle on Days of Ruin is also insane, it's one of the hardest final battles I've ever played, and his theme really matches up with him well. He's a complete physcopath, and his motivation for all his evils and horrors is his own curiosity. Meanwhile Sturm just wants to conquer the world. Eh.

@stabbybelkar Oh come on now, Caulder isn't steryotypical, he doesn't seek power, domination, or wealth, just a quest to satisfy his unquenchable curiosity. Sturm is awesome, don't get me wrong, but the whole, conquer and power stick has been used a whole lot. It works with Sturm well, it's just been used a lot. You don't see many villians that kill millions just to measure their fear and perspiration levels.
They're both great, I just find that Caulder is more well developed and....insane.

@surpluslimbs It would only happen if they would add Advance Wars characters to the roster, they'd probably include Sturm just becuase they need someone evil since all other characters from a Nintendo franchise appearing have one evil character for the most part (Mario - Bowser, Link - Ganondorf, Fox - Wolf, etc.) Who else would they have? @matrixbullettime3 Green Earth troops look much more like the German infantry from WWII. They have the same helmet and appear to be wielding MP40's and fire and forget rocket launchers (the first in the world...I also can' recall their name's unfirtunently) the German's used in WWII. Black Hole looks more like aliens with the suits concealing their faces and the breathing masks they wear and the fact that most of their vehicles are roundish like many stereotypical alien craft are portrayed as.
