@schristhekiss I'm not against live feeding. I don't feed live unless I have to. If I only had a few snakes, then it would be no problem to feed live because I'd be able to check and make sure the snake ate. If the snake's not hungry a live mouse can bite and even kill your snake. I have too many to take a chance on missing a live mouse and leaving it in w/the snake.
I do have a few adult ball pythons that only eat live rats, so I do feed live when I have to.
OMEHGOD! I am itching to get another snake but my dad thinks one is enough, when I had 2 one died, I think I am going to explode! I WANT ANOTHER SNAKE!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you decide to get a baby, make 100% sure it's eating unscented pink mice. I've worked with tons of baby GBKs and they are very, very hard to get started eating mice. They babies like lizards and some of them will literally starve themselves to death if you don't have what they want.
Once they do start eating mice, they're little garbage disposals.
They're not a snake you're going to sit around holding while watching TV.....but then again I don't expect my snakes to be like cats. I respect them for what they are.
no problem,im getting a western hoggie female from a buddie of mine.i used to own it when it was a baby but my buddy really wanted it so i gave it to him and now he called me and said do you want the hoggie back i said sure and im getting her in a week.
yes this one has its own personality and she'll let you know if you bothering her.she'll bite you but her mouth will be closed basically shell hit you with her head. =)
Okay, I had to stop watching about two seconds into "Feeding Time". Grrrrosss! LOL! I already know of some of what they eat. I squinted when I saw what I thing was something small, pink and hairless and that was enough. Eeek!
I hope you catch a lot at 'your' river. Heehee. If you didn't live so far, I'd invite myself to dinner. Of course you shouldn't expect me to help clean them. I'll cook them, though. LOL!
Jus askin why no live mouse feeding?

Do you have a ball python bcuz i can swear one of them looked like that?
I have one but i rlly want an emerald tree boa and an anaconda.
TwilightFanatic185 2 years ago
The Ball Pythons start at :40. I have 17 of them with **fingers crossed** 9 more hatching in about 4 weeks and another female about to lay eggs.
The babies in this vid were hatched April 2008.

I know what it's like to have that itch but.......and you knew there would be a but......
But I'd recommend waiting until you're old enough to get your own place or until dad decides to get you another snake.
You have your whole life ahead of you and I'm sure that in the future you'll have the opportunity to own more snakes.
Just think of the possibilities....balls & boas & corns, oh my.....Repeat after me....balls & boas & corns, oh my.

will they eat anoles?
the petstore by me has them for like 4 bucks
so maybe i can scent them on one
Bodacious468 3 years ago
Anoles yes. Either green or brown are what we use to get them to start eating.
But sometimes it takes a year to get the little buggers to eat mice scented with lizard. Some only want the lizard.
We have one '06 GBK that will STILL only eat lizards. He's a pain in the you-know-what!

Great vid. I agree, you cant just have one. I currently have 19 and counting. Mostly corn snakes. I have a few ball pythons and king snakes too.

Hi Nine, quite a lesson in snakes here!
Do you mean the pictures are all yours or the snakes are all yours before the feeding pics?
Which is your favourite snake? And what type is the white one? I've never seen a white one before!
I don't mind the eating scenes, I've probably seen too many nature documentaries!!!
claremaggs 3 years ago
I own all the snakes (and more :) before the feeding pics and some of the snakes in the feeding pics.
The white one is a leucistic Texas Ratsnake ...Leucistic means it's a white animal that is not albino.
My favorites are the Amazon tree boas (I only have 2 but hopefully the female is pregnant. She's the dark one.)
My 2nd fav are the ball pythons. The two biggest ones both laid eggs this year and the wee little babies I'm holding are some of those offspring.
NineCatsz 3 years ago
Another curious question I have. Are any of your snakes venomous? I know the boas and pythons are constrictors.
claremaggs 3 years ago
No venomous snakes here. . . . but I do like them though.
All the snakes in the vid are constrictors, not just boas & pythons.
Venomous snakes are not constrictors. They inject their prey with venom and wait for it to die before eating.

That pink and hairless thing was a newborn mouse...called a pinky mouse.
NineCatsz 3 years ago
Oh, I knew what it was. That's why I stopped watching. Aaacck!
LMmccallL57 3 years ago
Not a snake owner Im guessing lol. Im also guessing you never had to kill & clean any of the meat youve eaten. Even fish?
sbates5 3 years ago
Who, me?
No, I've never killed or cleaned anything to eat. I've caught fish, but my mom, brother or someone else would clean them for me.
LMmccallL57 3 years ago
All this fish talk is making me want some fresh smallmouth bass. mmmmmmmmmm I think I may just pop down to "my" river tonight and catch some.
