@apebyen No. If you listen to the track and then play both the Abm/Cb and the Ab/C chord on keyboard, you will hear the distinct difference between the first chord of the bar and the last chord of the bar. The Abm chord has more of a brooding, dark sound whereas the the Ab chord has more (because i couldn't really think of a better word) glorious, "fuck yeah!" kind of sound.

@phphantomz101 I disagree with you. If I listen to the track, I can clearly hear that it is the same all the time.. I also used a program called WIDI pro 4.0. That transform mp3 to midi files, its not 100 % accurate, but it says the same as I say. I wish I could hear the same as you do, but I dont. Please, try to convince me or prove it to me.. I wanna play it correctly ;-)

@apebyen The best way to hear the difference is to actually play on it the keyboard. The difference is subtle (relatively), but it's there. The notes of an Ab minor chord are Ab, Cb, and Eb. The notes of an Ab major chord are Ab, C natural, and Eb. The difference in the two chords lies in the third of each (i.e. Cb and C natural). The lowered 3rd of the Ab minor chord is what gives it that darker sound. In contrast, the unmodified chord (i.e. w/o the lowered 3rd) will sound brighter.

@apebyen (cont'd) Granted, I will say that in the original, the progression that mau5 uses is actually just a 4 chord progression of Abm/Cb, Abm, Gb/Bb, Ab/C. In mine, I altered it to an 8 chord prog where the 4th chord changes from Abm/C to Ab/C, only because it suited my style better. The Ab minor is definitely there though. In the original, It's a little harder to hear in the beginning because of the big bass, but the difference is most apparent when the electric guitar kicks in around 0:45.
