  • Hey Sean, Nowell is NOT a mistake on the label. It is an accepted English spelling of Noel. Randall Thompson, the American composer, wrote a wonderful Christmas canata, "The Nativity According to St. Luke" and in it is a piece entitled, "Nowell, nowell." "The First Noel" is indeed the most common way you see this piece titled, but I have seen The First Nowell, too, in many caroling books. Remember I am in my 44th year as a church organist, so I have seen alot!

  • The Flonzaley was the greatest quartet ever! Have you heard their Beethoven?

  • My apologies. The insult was not meant for you,but the music company responsible for this.Perhaps this is their own brand of freedom fries mentality. That not withstanding- please accept my apologies for possibly leading you into believing the rebuke was directed at you.

  • OK - I'm sorry too (and I removed my original reply). Part of the charm with these old records are the gross label errors you find on them!

    Best / Sean

  • And you sir are indeed a gentleman.I'm now listening to your great La Mer-Trenet gem, which I have already put into my favourites.

  • Not Nowell,but Noel-means Christmas in French!

I can't believe the gross stupidity! Shame!!

  • Beautiful! Now THAT is Christmas.

  • Jazz Baby, Wonderful recording. A lovely instrumental. Thank you. YF, J.
