  • Tesla Motors, announced that his electric car company "will build a high-performance version of the Model S that will go zero to 60 (mph) in 4.5 seconds. That's faster than a Porsche 911 Carrera."

  • finally, an american car company we can be proud of

  • @JCompany8 Cadillac does a great job, but horrible inaccurate stereotypes are still fueled by Americans ourselves..FIsker Karma is another great vehicle..You have to look at the price range's also

  • The Tesla Model S can go 300 Miles on a single Charge. It gets $.02 cents a mile, $6.75 to Fully Charge. Electric Vehicles get 150 Miles Per Gallon. That's 5X's the MPG of a regular gasoline vehicle.

  • funny how he forgot to mention it's an electric car..

  • For once, a BEAUTIFUL electric car!

  • I hope that run on gasoline and electricity together

  • as a former nummi auto worker, i dont think this car will make it big, in terms of production, toyota or tesla will have to come up with another car to put in the old plant , because the plant will only be used to make this one car , and 2/3 of the plant will be empty, Tesla will have to step it up to get all these workers 4,000+ former team members back out on the line producing quality vehicles, not to mention Tesla was survived by the U.S. tax dollars which is our money, not Teslas.

  • @eastbay5l0 its a loan, do you have a morgage? how would you like it if someone said your house isnt yours, its the banks property. tesla will pay back the money with interest.

  • @ned262626 They will pay it back the DOE loan just like Solyndra will...oh wait.

  • this reporter/report "actually" is terrible.

Is this a junior college project?

    Or, high school?

  • Vaporware? Let's not get paranoid here, fellow, the company's been building electric cars for over two years, and Rawlinson and von Holzhausen are the designers. Von Holzhausen designed the only car worth looking at from GM in the past half century - the Pontiac Solstice and Saturn Sky. And after viewing Rawlinson's walkthru, I'd have to laugh at this reviewer's ignorance of the Model S development progress. He really shouldn't be offering opinions - he's in no position to do so.

  • in my oppinion : no more than 40.000 euro ! for 100.000 i buy a 60sm flat.

would never spend this much on a car.

  • Third row seat!?! where? in the trunk?

  • is the car safe?

  • @Majorjoy6565 I've taken 4 years of atuo class, and can tell you it is more than safe. No gas to burn if you hit something, no engine so the car can crumple correctly on impacct, and more responsive turning because the steering bar is straight unlike a gas car.

  • @Majorjoy6565 tesla predicts it will be awarded 5 star crash rating

  • @MktNinja Like the Roadster, the Model S is engineered to plug into nearly any outlet, anywhere in the world. Plus, with the 45 minute QuickCharge or 1 minute battery swap, the electric car is only limited by our desire to change... oh and the oil companies telling the media that they are all crap!

@tzbnks it's ok, the door handles are coded to your own personal key fob, cool eh?

Because emotors are a fraction of the size of combustion there is heaps of room for extra seats or extra luggage.

  • its funny how it is in detroit lol after imagining that tesla is going to bring the automobile industry from shitty gazz guzzlers from detroit to clean in california great lol

  • Ofcourse nobody mentions that this is infact not a detroit product. Infact it isnt american at all. Its built by Lotus in England, shipped to america and sold as an american product. You should know technology, handling, style and sportscars in general dont come out of USA.

  • @Janusha Lol... Where do you get your info from. If you were to actually do your research then you would know that the Model S is going to built in Fremont CA where the old Toyota plant was. The batteries are being built not too far from the plant... Palo Alto to be exact.

  • @Janusha dude...you're fucking retarded, i dont even know what car you could possibly be talking about. 5017Jay is 100% right

  • @bonds911 I'm very disappointed with the Volt now, looks like Ford and so on only have around 100 miles going for them and this thing is being made not far from me here in S Calif.,time to rethink the whole Volt thing.

  • One concern would be to where do I go to recharge it? The volt's new concept is to plug it anywhere w/ a 110 outlet. Cool car though.

  • lol, how the hell do they think they are gonna get a third row in there? Are they going to put jump seats in the trunk?

  • i cant afford one, FFFFF!!!!

  • See ya petrol! Gimme a Tesla!

  • I do not see why electric cars are not build like the Tesla Model S. Most electric cars look so hideous it discourages buyers.

  • @xBeAGoodPersonx actually those are the myths made by gm when the wanted to kill they're ev-1.

  • @xBeAGoodPersonx that is sooo true! the volt eww and the leaf looks so cheap

  • That door handle that takes like a second to come out would be really annoying having to wait for it. Would piss me off.

  • That door handle that takes like a second to come out would be really annoying having to wait for it. Would piss me off.

  • Dude....it is NOT vaporware. Believe me.

  • Nice car can't wait.

  • Awesome car, but those door handles look ridiculously heavy, complex, and slow/inconvenient. There are plenty of good designs that are flush out there. Maybe use airplanes as inspiration.

  • Production version will have the door handles come out once it detects the key within close proximity. The handles will be out well before you get to the door.

  • what if a car or some object comes too close to the car, would that not be an obvious problem as the door handle would keep on flying out? or is it expected that you lock the door once inside because if you don't you're screwed?

  • i guess on the production one, they will pop out automatically. like when it sences the keyfob near by or somthing they will pop out, so yeah they will get even mor complex lol.

  • 3rd row seating?

    In that?

  • Not 3rd row, but 2 bucket seats facing towards the back, for kids.

  • @ekuwa69 How will they fit the seats in there? are they attached to the front seats?

  • The canbin looks like a audi r8 and other audi models! Very very nice car!

  • This Tesla Model S car hasn't received nearly enough press coverage.

All you hear about is the Ford Focus, Cadillac CTS Coupe, Buick Regal and GMC Granite (most of which I don't understand at all) , yet this car is far more interesting and compelling than any of those in just about every respect.

  • watch "who killed the electric car"

Incredible documentary showing why we have remained addicted to oil in an era where we most definitely have the technology.

  • @moaski this is how the world goes, and how the media is.

  • Incredible how the car can achieve 300 miles on a Charge and Nissan and Chevrolet can only do 40-100 miles. What's wrong with that picture?

  • @tnguyen318 The Chevorlet vehicle does have the gas engine which adds weight

  • I haven't heard much of either of those cars you listed. Neither have I heard much about the Tesla Model S. But then again, I don't watch much TV or read automobile magazines too often. All I hear about is what surrounds me. And what surrounds me is alot of balogny.

  • @moaski It's because Ford, Cadillac, Buick, GMC doesn't cost over 100K for a car you can only charge at your home and has only a 100 mile range. The max you can travel in the tesla is 50 miles so you can make the round trip back with the other 50.

    -

But lets face it, 100 mile is laboratory controlled numbers. It's a sporty looking car and you're gonna give it some throttle and not granny it like a toyota prius. Not to mention Lithium battery goes bad over time, so extra money for replacement.

  • @barreltrollololol the EPA mileage will not be laboratory controlled, it should as close as you can get to real life. As for the batteries, they do go bad overtime, but batteries have been getting cheaper every year for the past 25 years... I don't see why the pattern would reverse now.

  • @barreltrollololol except it doesnt cost 100k. Its

    160 mile pack $57,400

230 mile pack add about $10,000

300 mile pack add another $10,000

and a battery swap takes less than 2 minutes.

Where the hell did you get your information from?
