Thank you again, Sen, Sanders, for being a voice for THE PEOPLE! We know this is a small victory, that the banks have more up their sleeves, but as my Sicilian landlords used to say, "Poco a poco." LIttle by little...drops of water erode rock! Nov. 5th is coming up! I left the big banks years ago for a small labor bank and now a credit union. I am going to be there to support others in moving their money! Individually we are a drop in the big buckets for them, but if we desert in the millions?

this was just a tactic they were using to get back at people to show them they are the boss...they will come of with a new tactic to screw people over in revenge..they don't need the money...don't get too excited.. they are just taking a new direction.. the goal has not changed it is still to screw over and subjugate the US population into total submission to the corporate will..they are so close they can taste it
When are the government thugs going to also backpedal? When are they going to stop the mass murdering overseas and stop the federal reserve from funneling money to wall street, the same wall streeters they claim to be against?
That's a winning battle, not the war. Bernie, thank you for standing up for what is right, not just on this issue but the many issues over the years, you're one in a million.
I just don't think this is a "huge victory", because that's like calling it a huge victory that your abusive father didn't punch you in the face that day. We still have the bruises from a lifetime of beatings.
I agree with Pedantic Productions (1/2 dozen quotes below). This ($5 charge) was just a pubic relations stunt to mute the anger of #OWS and the country. They planned to appear to acquiesce!
The big banks continue to gamble with tax payer money at the risk of the US and the World economy. Why is it 'patriotic' to bail them out, but the 99% bankrupted by mortgage and college loans?
i agree but it was only ploy for 5 bucks, big charge. do u think that we can fall for that one !!!!! ha ha !!! senator sanders i like what u say but they need to change a hell of alot more !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Am I the only one who thinks this is a token libation so the banks can make like they caved and tell the OSW crew to back off now? In the grand scheme, this seems like an awfully small concession...
Also remember, they keep our money and pay almost Nothing in earned interest. Another Huge hidden tax, especially for the elderly who no longer have earned income.
We need Government Representation in Texas like this gentleman. I knew people were smart in the north east. I just hope we Southerners can resemble our northern brothers and sisters. A rich guy I know says " The masses are the Asses" hopefully the masses will stand up each time we have a chance to vote. We can change this mess we call America.
I've heard that some banks won't let people close their accounts. One way to get around that - depending on how determined you are - is to withdrawal money every day from the ATM machines. This way, you bypass the tellers/managers and they won't know what you're up to at first. Just a thought.
Don't just move your money, take it out completely. I have found that the banks do not have the physical cash. If you try to cash checks in the amount of $5,000.00 they cant give you money they try to give you a cashies check. It is my belief that if enough of us take cash from the banks on 11-5 the banking system will collapse and then maybe we the people will get over on the banks. The banking system is indebt to us the American people rise up and be heard take you money out and be proud.
Rearranging deck charis on the Titanic - they'll find another way to get that fee out of us. And Sanders here is completely missing out on the fact that the US Government and the Federal Reserve drove the housing bubble on purpose, out of 'greed' for votes, and confused notions of social engineering.
Nobody beat the banks; they just made them jump through a hoop.
Even though I've been unable to make any of these protests, I want to. I'm very proud of everyone standing up for what they believe in instead of just sitting around doing what they want you to, keep fighting. They may have power but we have numbers, it's like that movie "A Bugs Life".
Going after the banks for these fees are like prosecuting a murderer for pickpocketing. They have DESTROYED THE ECONOMY. These fees are the LEAST dishonest things they have done.
Out of 100 Senators, you are the only one I've seen speaking out for us in the Senate Chamber and making the time to do tv talk shows on our behalf. Thank you so much.
With all due respect, some of the other Senators seem to consider the Occupy movement a passing fad. That is a huge mistake. We are watching them to see what they say, or don't say, and what they do, and don't do. We are We the People. And we vote.
i got news for you senator bernie sanders, were going to do a LOT more than force them to backpedal on their ludicrous "maintenance fees". A LOT more.
GOD bless those American people! And yes, the job has just begun. If they FORCE everyone that gets a check into a banking system, it no less than an act of war. Passive-aggressive retaliation will be sweet fruit....sweet dreams tonite people.....catch a vision. :)
The job is not over People. The Banks are STILL dumping trillions in "toxic assets" onto the balance sheets of the U.S. and making US responsible for paying off THEIR gambling losses! We the People MUST force Congress to reenact the Glass Steagall Act which will force a break up of all those banks which have become even BIGGer during all this! The Wall Street financiers and banks in general MUST be crushed! or we will be crushed...
My bank followed suit doing the same thing as all of the other banks. Their fees were ridiculous. They even expected me to let them hold $1,500.00 at all times in my account because I am unemployed and do not have two direct deposits per month. I moved what little money I had in my checking account along with a couple of CDs and Money Markets over to a credit union. How's that greed working out for you big banksters now that people are leaving in droves? F-U-ALL!
It´s like throwing snowballs at a running train. The CEO luxury bubble must burst! They (not only BoA) made a fortune from FRAUD, DECEIT and cooking books till neverland.
Make them pay back every "bonus& compensation" fro crashing their corporation epicly! Throw them out and JAIL them!
Quod licet iovi non licet bovi, eh? THAT`S why we´re pissed off!
@RegioLunar you know i think if big CEO's giving them self's bonus's then its like stealing from the share holders, did share holders OK their bonus, No,they all just Took it by giving them self's bonus's
@InfoWarsNY I know i use VERY foul language but this issue demands for it.
As the Bush administration on it´s death bed "recapitalised" the bankrupt banks in a "shock and awe" robbery. Effectively the banks CEOs later paid the FINES for their disastrous actions with TAX PAYER money! They of course settled every single litigation without realy going to court hence they kept a white vest.
THIS definition of "perfectly legal" is simply FUBAR!
@RegioLunar Bush is a criminal and should be arrested and tried along with most of the pols and CEO's. The banks are now moving into packaging used car loans, payday loans, medical, student loans and other subprime debt and will try to move it on Wall St. Its true, they are buying those businesses and will not use their bank name on them.Look for a repeat of the housing bubble in the form of an auto,student,etc,etc... loan bubble.Nothing is beneath these evil thugs.
@justcallmeassinine But you have no idea whatsoever how it FEELS like to keep these bubbles going.
Our bodys´re etiolated on a daily basis and seeing these grining CEOs in "perfectly white vests" fuels a primordial rage ready to set your tiny fairy tale luxury bubble ablaze at ANY cost!

As far as withdrawing your money from your bank, check your fine-printed contract, you have the right.
As I've said, stashing the cash in your mattress is looking better every day.
