  • It's caused by a mite - only Australia is free of this bee-killing insect.

  • Scientists claim radiation from handsets are to blame for mysterious 'colony collapse' of bees. They are putting forward the theory that radiation given off by mobile phones and other hi-tech gadgets is a possible answer to one of the more bizarre mysteries ever to happen in the natural world - the abrupt disappearance of the bees.

  • ITS PESTICIDES FOR FUCKS SAKE

  • @OGdank13, Some of the healthiest hives have a large amount of pesticides in them. I’m not saying pesticides are good by any means. CCD or colony collapse disorder looks to be caused by Israeli acute paralysis virus. Put that virus in a hive and the hive collapses in short order. Check out the video by Dennis vanEngelsdorp from Penn State Univiersity on TED, "Where have the bees have gone". Dennis made into the 100 researchers in Discover magazine because of his work with bees.

  • @fbt2007 ive seen the TED. the problem with that is theres no other reasonable explanation for the disappearance, organic farmers have no bee problems its large scale commercial that is seeiing the drastic decline. I wouldn't doubt that Monsanto is trying to cover this up being the largest herbicide pesticide and fungicide producer in the world, you wouldn't want this to hurt business. yeah it could be a Israeli virus or god forbid cell phone signals but tell me what sounds more likely?

  • @OGdank13, yeah, I just read the story on Penn University's site and they haven't determined what the heck is causing it, (on live.psu do edu - story/40892). From the site: "No single factor was found consistently only in those colonies suffering from CCD."

If it's not a virus then I agree with you, it's probably pesticides. It's scary how much of this stuff they dump on crops every year.

  • Yeah, we need to step back and stop treating animals and insects to use at our disposal including eating them! Humans have little respect for things outside of their own species. So long as animals are eaten, humans on this planet are in trouble.

  • @susan2016 you are absolutely rediculous!

  • We can only reverse this by not make excessive use of wireless technologies. Besides, there is no good reason to keep using your cellphone or wireless devices besides acedia (aka discouragement, one of the 7 sins).

You can also talk to your friends using a wiredphone on a landline, wired internet or other non-wireless technology. And the best is just visiting your friends.

  • So if you care about the honey-bees, stop using your GSM for nonsence. Use it only when you need it and tell your government that you do not want to be part and funder of a global experiment.

And by the way, yes chemtrails CAN be part of the problem too because the metals inside of it will make EM fields much more affective...

  • We already know the problems:

There might be some natural causes but the main problem is:

Radiation from modern technologies like GSM, UMTS and possibly CDMA2000 but also DECT and WiFi are affecting in a minor way. Research shows that bee's lose their natural navigation in the neighbourhood of a device that creates high amounts of electromagnetic radiation. Also militairy tests applications like HAARP will contribute.

  • Sorry, but that makes no sense. Those modern radio technologies didn't suddenly all appear in 2006, and CCD has occurred where there is NO wireless coverage, how do you explain that? Saying wireless technology causes CCD is like saying cars are the only contributor to global warming, it's flat out false. and you know it.

  • i must be retarded or something because i thought bees were insects?? this woman with a phd refered to them as animals?

  • Insects are part of the animal kingdom, so yes, they are animals

  • we built our own top bar hive, very easily out of mostly reclaimed wood. there's a wire mesh instead of a conventional wooden floor as this is said to help with the verona problem. we're only on our first summer with them, so time will tell, but we've seen no sign of it so far. thanks for posting this. it's very informative. :)

  • So interesting. I never tire of watching or learning about these wonderful creatures. What we are doing to them, and to our planet, is frightening. Thankyou, norma.

  • I have a video clip about my friend's beekeeper story in Malta. Maltese honey is awesome! Watch it on my profile

  • omg heheheheh xD i love hornybees

  • genuis way of population control. billions die in war and famine. then whoever is left is offered genetically modified food. watch out. the same elite is behind all of this stuff. chipping populations. 1 world government, 1 world bank. 1 world army. low nutrient gm food with various chemicals and drugs to control mind

  • Many Beehives force the bee's to make the cells too large, this allows various mites to proliferate, very bad for bees.

Have to let the bee's make their cell smaller.

  • i aint seen none in texas either not this summer ate all

  • That is spooky =(

  • It sure is. I've noticed that my fruit trees which bloomed too early for bees anyway, wasn't polinated by bees and the fruit was more scarse and weak specimens. Not good at all this year. Later, I might have had like 2 or 3 on an entire tree, and it made out slight better. However, I usually only see one bee every so many days. I have lots of wild wasps and Carpenter Bees. Very sad! I try to plant things that birds/butterflies/bees would be attracted to.

  • Chemtrails

  • Actually it is happening heavily in the West too. I have hardly seen any bees this year, honeybees anyway.

  • Y'know, last year we had a bunch in our yard. This year fewer, but still around. Don't know if CCD has anything to do with it, or they've moved on. Curious, tho.

  • I had heard that they are not sure what causes it, they've been checking out things, but guess it takes time. I'm in California, not sure if that has anything to do with it. Farmers have been renting bee hives for thousands of dollars, and have had to lock them up at night because thieves have been stealing hives.

  • About the CCD, I wonder if it has to do with insecticides and herbicides that are sprayed. I mean Honey Bees do use pheremones for everything, I wonder if the chemicals from the herbicides and pesticides are interferring with the pheremone and thus they cannot find their way back to their colony nor pick up on the pheremone of the queen... I have heard that in the past 50 years, 50% of world honey bees have gone missing...

  • I hope we can reverse this, and I really think it has to do with the chemicals were spraying the plants, we really have to stop using this junk!

  • I love bee spit.

  • CCD is probably caused by neonicotinoids. Germany banned one of these pesticides recently. France did it for one crop several years ago. It still keeps happening because they're in over 100 different pesticides marketed all over the world.

  • Germany has the same problem with bees as the rest of the world. I think they've checked out all sorts of things and can't pinpoint the cause. I personally get mad at people who think they have to spray for every little thing. There are organic remedies. I have an organic garden and I never have a problem with aphids because the lady bug larva gets them.......not a one aphid this year!

  • Fascinating lady with an important message about Mankind's need to take responsibility for bees and bee-ing.

  • Yeah? What about Planet X?

  • watch?v=VRBJf57aNp4

Problem @ Bayer, a company with strong ties to IG Farben

    google bayer aids

    google solar cross

    google boyd graves

  • Colony Collapse Disorder? Is that along the same lines of Post-Traumatic Stress "disorder?" Or Anxiety "disorder?" Are these DISORDERs, or natural responses to the environment?

  • In 2012 we reach a point in rotation of the galaxy where the Sun, earth and center of the galaxy are exactly alligned. The sun & earth will show erratic magnetic properties as we cross the center or 'equator' of the galaxy. At that point the earth will complete a 'wobble', known as Precession. A full wobble takes about 25,000 years. If the Bees are gone by 2008 and the Einstein quote proves to be true, then we may find out exacly why the Mayan calendar ends precisely on December 21,2012.

  • The earth's magnetic field is half what it was 2000 years ago. Polar shift, the reversal of North & South poles, happens every 300,000 years. The last one was 700,000 years ago.

  • The one specific cause of the current environmental collapse is the overall focus and dependance of man on he'r negative activities and practices, which can not bee balanced by the natural system, it is man*kinds responsibility to bring a positive balance into their system of environmental change and control, for without this cooperation s'he will be removed from the system, as that is the natural order and dynamic of life.

    BL*M

  • Bees raised on organic farms in the east coast Have no problems. The honey bees most affected are the commercial farm bees that are trucked around the country. Those beekeepers take the bees winter supply of honey, and replace it with corn syrup..

  • Can you send me or direct me to info on that? The organic vs commercial bees.

  • Bee Pollen is very healthful

  • loss of honeybees and loss of birds seems to be latest thing that the news is informing us to be fearful of... just how true is it that birds and bees are disappearing or is this just media and governmental hype? so tough to tell what's true

  • I love bees. It's wonderful to see someone who has such a passion for another organism. :) Great episode.

  • thanks, witchapparatus. I agree!

  • Business greed will be the death of us all. I'm only pleased to know it will be the death of them too.

  • lose the honeybees AND our species? puh-leeeeeeze

  • check out actor christopher walken cooking on imcooked(dot)com a new site just like youtube but for cooking only its really cool check it out and upload any cooking videos you have

  • Their africanized! !! !!! Ahhhh HHH HHHH HHHHH

  • This Is Nice^-^

  • We need to go after one problem at a time or humans will shrug their shoulds til everything is extinct. Farmers don't want to admit that pestisides (chemicals) are a big problem. Number uno. Create a safer pestiside, or none at all, just a lot more workers in the fields.

  • When I wrote the statements on this video -- it was based on a book that was published with a line-by-line response where Carson was completely wrong. Now, I can't find the damn book -- or the author!!! (but I will not give up!! I will find it and send you the internet address) But the bottom line was very simple, with today's studies and $billions wasted -- DDT does NOT -- nor has it ever had any effect on wildlife. They even used 600% of the normal dosage -- and the birds still had good eggs!!

  • hedwig85 - OK - I'll send you the facts - hard to find because today DDT is in use around the world and in places like Sri Lanka - there is no effects on wildlife - and malaria deaths have gone from 7,300 (1948) deaths to 0 (yes - zero) in 1963 -- where DDT was used (Walter Williams). There is speculation that wealthy countries try to restrict DDT use in poor countries as a means of human population control. Malaria is a very effective killer -- and DDT eliminates it completely!!

  • wha???

  • I hope she gets stung and dies :D *Clapclap*

  • Why?

  • (1/4) Rachel Carson's "Silent Spring" (September 1962) was the most damaging element to the environment ever produced!! She admits that many of her "facts" were actually theories and she knew almost nothing about the effects of chemicals in the environment -- she had no facts - she guessed at the results!! As a result of this book, DDT was taken off the market -- even though it was VERY effective against malaria -- and proven to have NO EFFECTS on the eggshells of birds.

  • (1/2)You're a bit off topic from the focus of this video. I will address your notes just clarify a bit. For your comments to be meaningful, you need to cite specific peer-reviewed scientific literature that support your conclusions. I will cite research that support the conclusion that DDT affects the integrity of eggshells of birds.

  • Davison KL, Sell JL. DDT thins shells of eggs from mallard ducks maintained on ad libitum or controlled-feeding regimens. Arch Environ Contam Toxicol. 1974;2(3):222--232.

Peakall DE, Lincer JL, Risebrough RW, Pritchard JB, Kinter WB. DDE-induced egg-shell thinning: structural and physiological effects in three species. Comp Gen Pharmacol. 1973 Sep;4(15):305--313. (DDE is a direct breakdown product of DDT)

  • Here is a 3rd paper confirming that DDT does affect the integrity of bird eggs.(DDE and DDD are direct breakdown products of DDT)

McLane MA, Hall LC. DDE thins screech owl eggshells. Bull Environ Contam Toxicol. 1972 Aug;8(2):65--68.

  • (2/4) DDT was reported in the book to be the sole cause of soft eggshells causing an almost zero birth rate in native birds. It was later scientifically proven beyond all doubt to be lead in ground water -- NOT DDT -- but Pandoras box was open -- never to be closed! Ever heard a lawyer win a case -- then years later -- after DNA evidence proved him wrong - say he was wrong? As of 2006 -- 44 people have been taken off death row and released because DNA evidence proved they got the wrong guy!!

  • (3/4) But lawyers still argue - they were legally convicted -- they should be punished -- regardless of weather the DNA evidence proves that they convicted the wrong person or not! ALL that matters is wins and losses -- not right and wrong!! As a result of DDT not being sold, today thousands of people die each year of malaria -- because of the "poor guesses" this book introduced. Now we simply start lining up "experts" to say "hurray for our side"!!

  • (4/4) Many have said that "Silent Spring" will be looked at as the starting point of the extinction of human life on earth because we will believe a hot selling book over proven scientific evidence!! Will we wake up and listen -- or allow the lawyers to continue to say "I am God. I am never wrong!!"? We KNOW that global warming is a fact -- but we can get many "experts" to say it does not exist. "Silent Spring" was truly "cooking up a story" -- it just happened to be a complete lie!!

  • 1/3 of our food supply is at risk. This is a looming nightmare. Expensive gas AND food. Not good for the ole' US of A.

  • Apparently she's never been stung.

  • Maybe the bees got bored of playing with her and ran away.

  • so..wat is happening to the bees?

  • Colony Collapse Disorder... We have lost the majority of honey bees in USA, Europe, and other continents.(hundreds of billions) No Bees... no crops....we can die. My fruit trees did not have bees to pollinate to make fruit. First year it has happened. Blueberries, apples, almonds and other plants depend on honey bees to produce fruit.

  • Thanks

    It was a great video.

  • Great video.

  • This was so fascinating. I had not heard about the collapse of the bee colonies. I've also been wanting to tell you that I think this channel is really the "bees knees". LOL...

  • That was wonderful. I was just wondering about the 'rumor' I had heard on bees. We've been talking about at my work alot, casually. So naturally this video intrigued me. Also, I like honey...lol, honeybearbaby!

  • I just discovered this site. Really wonderful! Thank you!

  • Thank you! More people need to know about this impending problem 2 out of 3 things humans put in their mouths was assisted by the work of bees. Without the pollination of trees and crops we will not eat. Moving colonies thousands of miles on trucks, feeding them fructose syrup while on the move, cell phone electromagnetic currents, we are the cause for the problem! Wake UP people!

  • Nice video, but the message about the environment came out of nowhere. Worse, there was no setup, no supporting evidence, and no clear connection between honeybees and human impact on the environment.

  • The bee die off been in the news for MONTHS. Do a google before you pass judgement - your ignorance of the facts doesn't mean they don't exist. Did you know scientists can't explain how aspirin helps headaches? No "clear connection" between headaches and aspirin, so aspirin must not work, according to your logic. This deliberately ignorant, 'stick your head in the sand' attitude, is going to make cleaning up our environment take a lot longer than it should

  • Hi heyho3333. I apologize if you were offended. I wasn't passing judgment on the issue. Rather, I meant to suggest that the video could be improved by explicitly making the connections.

  • There are several causes they have listed.... two types of asian mites, overworked by beekeepers, insecticides, quick change in climate. there are othres but these are the main ones

  • yey 1st comment pretty good!
