@ObjectP yeah it did; when 2-step got dark enough some guys in Bristol fucked around with an LFO and made grimey dubs that sound nothing like this. Listen to Skream, Loefah, Pinch, DMZ, Mala, Coki. Dubstep came from that early experimental music that was a mix of dub, jungle and 2-step with a halftime shuffled beat and a heavy bassline. Then too many people abused the power of the LFO and we got the wobwobwobs.

dark garage and jamaican music created dubstep end of story, other other hipster.
