Great Job! I just uploaded my own vresion and I would kill to get the tab/chord sheet to that acoustic version you are playing there in tuning. It would be just fantastic if you drop by and listen to my version and le me in on the secret of that tuning and chords you are using. I saw Justin's video playing it on a 12 string with your chords. Love to know!
@blackicebill96 The tuning is DADFAC....the fingering for the first "chord" is 3rd fret on the E,A, and D string...hammering the A note on the G string with the index finger.
Very nice! I'm working up a cover of Land of Makebelieve - I almost picked New Horizons but might have been frustrated without knowing the tuning. Vocals are not bad - you really got close to Justin's voice at the beginning - tough song to sing - you should have heard he harmonies I was adding! Thanks - I'm gonna pull down my old 12-string, retune it and give this a try.
All I can say is WOW...I have been listening to this song for over 30 years and you have certainly captured it so nicely. One of the greatest songs ever (despite getting no airplay anymore!) and you even sang it pretty well too and it's not an easy song to sing either! Here's your next challenge..."Bluebird"...I think you could a great version of it!
I highly recommend anyone who really loves Justins songs & style to aquire "An Audience with Justin Hayward at The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame"...Great accoustic versions!!!
Man, thanks so much! My son bought me the "Audience with Justin Hayward at the Rock Hall of Fame" DVD for Christmas ( I opened it!) and was watching what he was doing , but couldn't catch the tuning.
Can't you tell by the video???? I tried to be explicet as possible with the fingering....OK...the 3 main fingerings....start with 3rd fret, the low E string,A string,D string...hammering with the index finger on the G string,2nd fret....next fingering...1st fret for the B string and the A string....3rd fingering... an Am position including the third fret on the A string....those are the 3 main chords(?)....let me know if you need more explanation....
Same here, and thanks again othercousin. It feels awesome to be able to play this song. I just had my dad put on Seventh Soujourn on his record player and played this for him, and i think it really impressed him haha
It's so cool that we cracked this one! Congratulations on being the first person on Youtube to play it correctly! Don't worry bout vocals-few can sing like Justin. I think the whole community will appreciate finally being able to play a song we have wondered about and struggled with, but loved for many years. I'm gonna practice that hammer on a bit more before I post-that C chord is giving me fits also...But just to sit there in the dark last night and play this was heaven!
bravo...very nice job

Great job working it out. Thanks! How about the intro to Never Comes The Day? Open G. I have the first 4 measure but it's hard to hear the rest.

I can't see the fingering at 2:14 and 2:30. This is the only part that I missed
fpena77 3 years ago
That would be the first fret on the A string, first fret on the B string fingering....the same one used previously....Let me know how it goes!
