I saw this movie when it came out in 1984,and it was a joy just to watch Albert Finney.What a gifted actor he is. I have just now decided to read the book by Malcolm Lowry,after 27 years.
Fascinatin trailer! I read the book last year. A powerful read; though some may think of it as a downer. A harrowing character study of an alcoholic. I hope to see this film soon; the book was set in the late 1930's but I don't know if the movie version is. Those are definitely 70's style sunglasses Albert Finney's character is wearing in this clip! THANK YOU very much for posting it!
Is the coundtrack by Vangelis? It sounds a lot like him. I am 3/4ths of the way through the novel. I doubt any film can do it justice, but I may see it out of curiosity.
It's funny that the trailer has the synthesiser sound from "Halloween" while the movie has a classic old-school score by Alex North.

Magnificent Albert Finney. Maybe movie has lost a bit of book's 'depht' but it's still parade of outstanding acting and mood.
