Wow some of you are really harsh. I had never heard of Cage until I caught "I Never Knew You" randomly on VH1... I'm so glad I did. The video and song are great. Shia LeBouf or not.
Nah but seriously, I would love a Cage movie. Huge fan and I love his music. And his story on how he got on his way to underground rapping would be sweet to see in a film.
@MrCloakDagger yup, it seems nowadays you can't show an ounce of emotion or reality in a certain fashion without being considered emo, dumb faggots like mrcloak are perfect examples as to why. emmure, a hardcore band, is technically emo from your perspective, fuck outta here man.
Coming from a fan of the old cage... The only time i though i would see him with a gun is when he is probably gonna shoot someone like maybe a step dad or something.
Dose it piss anyone else off that all these snobby bitchy girls are now suddenly into cage? I'm a girl myself so don't pull the "oh your a guy" bullshit.
Like fuck if your only listening to this man cause you think he's hot then go to someone else cause he deserves REAL fans.
let me add, i used to be the biggest cage fan and its good to see him working with shia lebouf, he's the fucking man! cage's music has changed alot though, im not sure what i think
you know i used to think the same thing after Movies for the Blind. Becasue thats exactly what they were, dark descriptive, deep seeded anger filled lyrics that paint a pisture like a movie. Alot of people dont like the dirrection that he's taking and I dont really agree. The more and more I listen to his new stuff I understand were the guys comin from. He spits with even more technical phrases and linguistic skill. He has just moved on from the box cutter gore rap. (continued----)
(cont.------)He's always written about things that hit him close to home which is why there's so much emotion in his lines. When he was younger he wrote more of the hardgore rap, street oriented stuff and familly issues. Now that he's grown up a litle he has more things to write about and it's only natural for him to progress in a more mature direction. He hasnt sacraficed anything, if anything I think he's far more technical with his rhyme schemes and deep lines. (----not enough room!continued)
(cont....again---) I'm sick of everyone getting mad because he's changed his style. There's a few really deep emotional songs on his album (wich i cant get enough of myself) but there are some really good upbeat songs that arent getting any credit. Check out "It's the 80's Again" that shits funny as hell. Everyone is just concetrating on a few of his songs (eg. "Ballad of the Worms" and "I Never Knew You"-two of my favorite of his to date) and crying "EMO RAP!". I'm sick of it. (argh!!!!!!!----)
(arrgh, sorry busysignal...-------) to anyone who bitches about his new style cause it doesnt fit what youve built Cage up to be: Get over it, stop bitching and ruining it for everyone else(not talking about you busy) If you can't appreciate what he's producing now thn you should just stick with Movies for the Blind and be happy with what youve got. Dont go trolling the internet ruining his image for the rest of us. (rant wasnt meant for you busy, hope his new stuff grows on ya like it did me)
This album is by far one of his lightest. I'm pissed about the cage movie because it's turning the underground rapper that got me into hip-hop into an overground thing. Fucking poser fans are multiplying and it's pissing me off.
Personally I wouldnt mind if he gets some mainstream lime light. It's not like he's conforming his lyrics to be played on MTV. If this is the direction that mainstream goes I would be more than happy. If all DefJux went Mainstream, keeping their sound, they would set a standard and probably influence alot of others to conform to them. At least thats the direction I'd like to see this take. I cant stand anything new on the radio if these guys can change the face of mainstream, I'd be happy.
I can honestly say that I am a new Cage fan, but all of his music I've grown to like and even love. Although I too found him through Shia. WIthout him I might not have ever come across Cage and I wouldn't know what I'd be missing.
yea this my first time hearing about cage and it is a very ppowerful sound this is the kind of music i like... and i want to learn more :) and shia ive been a fan of him since i was a kid and basically since he was a kid (even stevens) so to me this is great @DoriansPennies
y do i feel like shia lebouf playing cage with the craziest life that cage had ever would land him an oscar nomination...or be jus as hard as 8 mile...alota people gunna hate...but i jus have a weird feeling that it will be ill as 8 mile especially if he covers the beef with em well enuff along with the new cage style now ya no?
brought him up, cage is always going to be known. thank you impatient, for not being a complete naive disney teen. just do a little research before you start spouting off about hip hop artists, who have helped start big things. oh honey, go listen to the weathermen, take a blunt to the face & go through the related videos, & not shias.
let's put it like this for u new cage fans if he didt have that i dont care type of look that.....that emo type of look be real u probably wouldn't listen to his music he's mainstream now he sold out
he wasn't a wannabe gangster when hells winter dropped, but that album was one of his best. and lyrically, his newish song "days" is the best hes ever been.
thats the problem with new cage fans... you always turn it into an appearance thing, if he recorded his old shit looking like an emo I wouldn't care in the slightest.
:) Ok sweets, I just dont know abt cage ok ? in fact I never knew him until he started working with Shia, not only me lot of Shia fans are now cage fans too, thats a fact and u cant help it. give it a break hun, mwaah ! :)
Shia got a lot to do with Cages recently boomed popularity, whats wrong with admitting that? Im not talking about his talents but his popularity certainly increased after they started working together.
Im a huuuuuuuuge Shia fan, I respect Cage. I like some of his music but actualy I accidentally bumped on to him, because of Shia, thats how I got to know his existence :)
cage is great and shia lafaggot sucks balls. doesn't anyone remember shia from fucking nickalodean? he probably heard of kerouac yesterday. fucking dork chooses the gayest, most mainstream, sellout fims around.
What he does for a living and who he is and what kind of art he appreciates are two very different things. It's those "sellout films" that have given him the opportunity to showcase Cage to a much larger audience. The quickest way to destroy the beast is from the inside.

So, if an individual may book a gig for a Dial Soap Commercial-it's exciting because they are doing something they "love" & possibly getting a paycheck. However, when you get the chance to work on a project that you are passionate about-or even more-so a fan of/supporter-that is the dream right there. It sounds like Shia is really passionate about paying CAGE respect for the music/life. Good shit.
Wow, I never knew Shia LaBeouf was such a cool person... I would let a black man rape me if it meant this movie would come out tomorrow. Cage is the shit.

Wow, I never knew Shia LaBeouf was such a cool person... I would let a black man rape me if it meant this movie would come out tomorrow. Cage is the shit.

I don't know, I can't really see Shia playing Cage. I think Shia is a great actor just not right for the part.
