  • Is there substitutes for collodion? Someone told me Elmer's glue but i wanted to double check.

  • BADASS!!!! my kakashi cosplay is complete thanks to you

  • Really looks like kat from halo reach

  • Great video :) Q: Is there anything I can do to make the collodium not peal off in the edges about 1-2 hours after its applied? Want to have it for the night but it seam to come off a lot earlier then intended. Any tips?

  • thumbs up

  • does anyone kno where i can get the rigid collodion?

  • @peanutREAPER21 Google for theatrical supply sites or theatre supply stores in your area :)

  • @beautysbadhabit

    .shopofhorrors. com

  • That is REALLY well done

  • @danamaze Thanks!

  • is it waterproof after the rigid collodion dried up?

  • @BlairWoodscraft Yes it is :) It peels off once you come to remove it.

  • where can i get da refion collorion?????

  • Wow this is so cool!! =D thanks for posting! you rock! <3

  • I've seen how awesome this stuff is for lined scars, but I was curious for using it for something much smaller. Going vamp for halloween and I don't want one of those "bites" that are raised and look like bug bites with big holes in them (like scar putty or rubber glue-ons), I want an "old" bite. Think rigid collodion would do the trick?

  • @TearfulShadows It would, but you'd have to make the bites a little bigger than you want since the collodion 'shrinks' to pull in your skin :)

  • Great, thanks for getting back to me so fast! Now I just have to figure out if I can find it at the local halloween shop or I'm going to have to order online and have it get here before the big event! Have a great day and happy makeup-ing!!

  • Now that's just plain groovy!

  • Way to steal Petriludes vid.

  • @SugarBlast101 lol he posted that video THIS MORNING, she posted this last year

  • @SugarBlast101 My time machine must be in tip top condition then, seeing as I posted this last year.

  • @beautysbadhabit Go ahead darling!!

  • @SugarBlast101 think before you write.

  • @SugarBlast101 She put this up a year before Petrilude.....

  • @SugarBlast101 ur comment was chosen by failoftheweek-com lmao

  • how many ounces was the bottle you bought for this? How much did you use?

I really like the effect and I'm just wondering how much it would end up costing me... (i have a character with a lot of deep back scars...)

  • @MsDarebear Any greasy product, lipsticks, creme blush, creme colours etc

  • excellent example of rigid collodian.

  • How long does it take to dry?

  • "Allow to dry (approx 1. minute)" :]

  • wow! thats really cool 5/5

  • Added to my cosplay SFX playlist. ^^ This'll come in handy for doing things like Zack's cheek scars or Gene's body scars! Thank you!

  • It looks really nice! Great tips to help me figure out what I will be doing for a costume.

At the store I went to for this product they are reluctant to sell it to just anybody due to the damage it can cause if used improperly, such as actually scarring the skin. They advised to only do 2 layers. I was wondering if you find any negative results after layering it so heavily? Do you use it in the same place often or do you give your skin a break? I appreciate any info you can share. :)

  • I highly doubt that it could cause actual scarring since it won't break the skin, your skin is contstantly pulling back on the collodion so all that will happen is the edges of collodion could come loose. I have heard this warning before, but have never actually heard of anybody being damaged in such a way - the only complaint I've heard it that it can irritate your skin once it has been removed, but it isn't anything painful or permanent.

  • nice work!!

  • great result!

  • quite good. i like how you do the scar among the cheek bones nd top skull

  • Thank you.

  • you did an excellent job with the scar. i recently ordered some rigid collodion and was wondering if you can help me with something. i put on all the layers and it looks great, however at some of the edges it kind of peels up. is there a way to stop this from happening? i'd use a razor, but i don't wanna cut my face all up. thaks a lot

  • It will peel up because the collodion pulls in on itself, but if the flesh that it has been applied to isn't...fleshy enough, it will pull back and the collodion loses grip on it. You could use acetone to blend away the edges which stick up.

  • ok, i'll give that a shot. thanks for the quick reply. and this may be a stupid question, but what is acetone?

  • It is a liquid which can be used as a solvent. It will "melt" away the edges.

  • this video is very interesting! I love it! Thanks=))

  • You're most welcome, I'm glad you liked it.

  • is there anything other than collodion that you can use to create the same effect?

  • The only other way to get the ridge would be to apply a prosthetic piece (silicone would be best) with the scar already set into it. You could use tuplast, which is another type of plastic, but you would get a raised scar.

A small bottle of collodion is only about £4 though, and will last for ages!

  • that looks so real

    but doesn't it feel tight?

  • It feels tight when the collodion is drying, but it isn't uncomfortable or unpleasant. Once it has dried you can't feel it at all. I actually kept forgetting I had this make-up on and freaking myself out when I walked past the hall mirror!

  • wow

    it looks soo realistic :)

  • Thanks, collodion is great like that :P

  • Wow, this is so realistic! Simple too. And I must say, you're very pretty as well :D

  • It is seriously the easiest SFX to apply AND the most realistic looking with minimum effort - which is always good in my books :D Thank you!

  • you always amaze me with these videos! awesome :)

  • Aw, thanks! Glad you're enjoying them :]

  • so you apply the collodian and thats it? u dont run smthg sharp through it?

Ive seen it in the shops but the silly ladies always cant explain it to me properly..ugh

  • Just apply collodion over the design, it works by pulling your skin tighter as it dries to form a deep and visible ridge. No need to run anything through it at all!

  • ahhh....okay

so thats why you apply colour first! so it looks more realistic

    awesome :)
