  • I can t watch the movie cause it s no aviable in movil!!! Please, could you please fix that? An put aviable on movil?! Please.

  • sci fi? Sapristi, when i saw it as a kid i would have bet it's renasseimental

  • i love how they shoot the conversations. one person stands idle while the opposite talks at them.

  • This movie reeks of british culture

  • rhis is good

  • 3D Movie !

  • Awesome movie, loved it when i first saw it when i was a kid. Still love it.

  • Fondest memory of this? The bit in "Pineapple Express" where they talk about this film. But hey, you've got SW and Sommersverse people in it, so I'll watch.

  • In the net a critic says this movie is for sure not on the top of someone´s favorite movies list. Well, it is on mine. I really enjoy it. It is so adventurous and fantastic and full of action and tension and beautiful designs and it has that special creepy atmosphere...Just amazing!

  • The greatest aspect about this film for I was that when I first saw I was a kid!!! If I can go back in time and watch this for the first time again would be a truly mystifying gift!!

A film, a cast, a soundtrack, a plot, a fantasy ................. so real to I years later and many many times viewed!!! In the late Eighties when I recorded this on VHS I used to rewind the tape over and over again to listen to the opening Main Title score. This film was and is my destiny in life. My Queen.

  • hollywood should remake this one..if they can do great things wit transformers n all those superhero movies, they should start doing the same thing wit late 70's n early 80's sci fi n fantasy movies, krull needs a remake coz it invovles aliens, magic n swords..no alien invasion movie today can do that, most aliens invasion movies today are based on 21st century earth, shit almost all aliens invades 21st century earth, krull is different, the aliens came during medieval times..thats awesome.

  • muito show esse filme adoro!!

  • They don't make this type of heroic fantasy anymore (well okey maybe LOTR but you know what I mean). A real good adventure movie just to watch and relax. Also a really young Liam Nesson in there is quite fun to watch.

  • lol this dialogue is terrible.....

  • Seen this movie when I was young and after that ugly-hug-me and too-good-for-this-world cyclop was squashed like a sorry bug between the walls I became traumatized and disturbed for the rest of my school years!

  • This movie is terrible!!!! How can anyone say it is good. It is good for a laugh maybe?

  • @BUDDY6414724297 i just find it fun to laugh at movies that had good graphics for its time.

  • i have always loved watching this movie. first time i have seen it in a long time. thank you youtube. :-)

  • @l8erh8er420 Me too. I hate when people dis this movie/claim it's 1 of the worst. I can agree with, well not agree, but understand/respect a person's "dislike" of this movie, but not when the say it was a bad or terrible movie. Claiming that, goes beyond personal opinion. It was a pretty good movie. As a kid, my uncle took my cousin & I to see it at the theater. I've liked it ever since. Bought it on VHS & DVD. I also have it on .avi & DIVX. I would guess that makes me a fan!

  • I know I have heard this theme music in something else, but can't place it. Anyone know?

  • @Purplecatsoup30 Well, Composer James Horner scored a lot of Movies (including both "Titanic" and, more recently, "Avatar") and many of his Themes (especially from the 80s) sound similar. Maybe you are reminded of "Battle Beyond the Stars", "Star Trek II" or "Willow". Take a look at his filmography. :)

  • Meu Deus!!! Coloca legenda em português!!! Por favor!!! =/

  • if you really think about it, there really isnt no more imagination. It all has to be real to people instead of creating something out of pure imagination. Fantasy movies allowed directors to be imaginative and creative, but it's very rare to fine a true classic fantasy movie now a days

  • Lol i still got this on video i used to watch it every single day at least twice when I was kid and same for the film labyrinth with david bowie :D isnt it beautiful!! THE FOOKIN GLAVE !!! Aka the bitch disc

  • is it just me or does the music sound a lot like the music in wrath of khan?

  • @poolpax

You are right. It's because of the same composer (James Horner). He reuses many parts from the music in ST2/3. Krull and ST2 was filmed nearly at the same time.

  • This film is a calssic ! I has it on Beta max !!! LOL Was the 1st Fantasy film i ever watch, the music is still today epic, id rather watch this than all 3 LOTR films ^_^

  • Is there a Krull fanclub? I mean a real, not that parodistic you find on Google.

  • It never surprises me as I grow older just how many 80's films had rockin soundtracks even be it film with symphony scores like this IMMENSE gem. When I saw this film as a child with my family man it was the best movie that I could ever see and the best rule of life that I could ever live by. I too seek the Black Fortress!!!

  • The best sword and sorcery movie ever, hands down!

  • Fantastic sound track. The plot is pretty good; James Horners music is phenomenal.

  • Peter Jackson should make a sequel to this movie.

  • @germanicelt I disagree. Considering that many times the sequel doesn't measure up to Part One, I think Jackson did it right when he left it alone. Besides, many movies were, and are, made without a sequel in mind. Only after the box office receipts come in does some idiot in management think that it's a good idea for a sequel. The first movie might have taken 10 years to create, and management wants a sequel in 18 months.

  • Some one said the space ship thing in the beginning looked like a chicken turd

  • 6:55

I thought one of them was holding the American flag lol.

  • ridley scott put kids into astronauts suits to make an alien set look bigger, and said "this is our million dollar movie shot" --- and he was right btw,- that´s what it is all about,- illusion, imagination, storytelling,-

but kiddos of today are really too spoiled to even understand that

  • Nostalgia Critic should definitely review this!

  • Remember when studios weren't afraid to make a B-movie? Not everything has to be a blockbuster. Loved this flick.

  • "Your journey was hard." "Not as hard as I am now."

  • The knights crossed with red-clad power rangers... Oh God... :-DDD But the scenery is nice, where did they shoot it ? UK ? New Zealand ?

  • @ZemplinTemplar

    England, I think.

  • @ZemplinTemplar Northern Italy, looks like the german speaking part that was once part of Austria.

  • @ZemplinTemplar

In Italy, in Canary Islands and huge sets in Pinewood Studios.

  • I've seen this with mom and dad. While watching I was in awe like mesmerized, and those monsters with the octopus brain inside theie hideous masks, cmon. This is supercool, I just love this medieval-space crap, fuck, why there's no more films like this. I would enjoy it even now.

  • this is one of the best british fantasy films

  • @spiderlime

Hawk the slayer is also remarkable but rather cheesy, I still like that too.

  • HE-MAN !!!!

  • By the way: Did Lyssa and Colwyn already know each other?

  • @grigorione i saw the trailer awsome.

  • @grigorione nope how is it?

  • Epic. This is the shit, fuck LOTR

  • @msalazarx Agreed! It´s much more creepy and atmospheric and not so kitshy.

Those big-eyed, softspoken Hobbits really go on my nerves!

  • A film so weird, you gotta love it!

  • omg i haven't seen this in years...:)

  • James Horner's masterpiece.

  • man i used tolove this movie bk in the day

  • their ship is a giant LOG... wich can run over your neighbors dog =D

  • Freddie Jones is great, the soundtrack is awesome, the swamp scene is fascinating. Call it a B-movie as much you like, I enjoy it every time I watch it.

Dying because someone's run out of sand - I think it's a very peculiar cause of death.

  • WTF is that a flying slate rock ship, lol

  • A and B isn't a way to refer to this type of movie. This had huge production values and was not B to any other film in the cinemas of the 80's. B picture means it was showen after the A feature and did not get top billing i.e A. But this system was not used anymore by the time of this films release. Hope this clears it up.

  • I like how Jesus uses the Glaive in SouthPark. lol

  • Krull came out in 83.

  • This movie brings back so many memories.

  • I love my mum for showing me this film! i was only 7 when i first watched it =D <3 it

  • thanx for posting it but directed by Peter Yates... staring Freddy Jones, Liam Neeson, Robby Coltrane, David Battlery, Francesca Annis & Alun Armstrong filmed in Pinewood Studios.. .. its no B movie kinda of an insult calling it a B movie but again thnx for posting ... really really LOVE this Movie!

  • & I forgot to mention a Horner Film Score.... OMG this movie owns

  • I remember going to the movies to see this, & I was disappointed because he only used the weapon once, and that was the end...I was pissed!!!

  • Would like to see a remake of this.

  • @gcraw1

Pay attention to the remakes out in the past 10 years, then you would not like to see a remake of this or anything else for that matter. But I would trust John Carpenter to make a variation of it. Like he did with "Thing"

  • bad ass! that blade chinese star shit!

  • pamiętam ten film...świetny może ktos wstawi z napisami lub lektorem ;)

  • LOL giant mountain spaceship!!!

  • i get the SHIVERS listening to this, ever and ever again!

  • I wouldn't mind if this film got remade one day as long as a good director like James Cameron makes it, some old cast members return like Robbie Coltrane and Liam Neeson, stays very close to the original like the same storyline, have less CGI effects, and more action scenes.

  • those soldiers costumes with the visors, the red armour, was in the WB scene in Pee Wee's Big Adventure lol-

  • gotta love the musical score for this film its something you will never forget !!!

  • I dont know if this is one of the worse or of the best films ever XD (more likely the latter tho :)

  • Not a "B" Movie...

    A+++++

  • If someone has a clue on this movie please reply!

Its about a "kingdom in the sky" and in the beginning of the movie they are attack by "a witches" forces in flying ships and stuff, but later when the kingdoms sends a armada against the witch she use a "ageing machine"(making people grow older uberfast) on them. Or somthing that way. It have similar graphic and stuff. So anybody who recall a movie like this reply..

  • @Litzen2k maybe ice pirates

  • @golob13 Thx for your reply. But unfortunately it wasnt the movie i was looking for nice try doe .

  • @Litzen2k are you thinking of Ice Pirates?

  • @simex909 Nop, its not. Damn really want to find this movie :/

  • this was bling-free magic.

  • Yes, indeed. I recall the arcade game. I dumped more than a healthy share of quarters in it (when games only COST a quarter). Also. I had forgotten that Horner did the score to this film. His composing and arranging style is as distinctive and recognizable as is JW's stuff. (BTW did you know that John Williams did the opening music for LOST IN SPACE?) Anyway, not anywhere near the greatest film ever made, but orders of magnitude better than the comic-book based crap being made these days.

  • wow, worst special effects, EVER

  • Release the Kraken! Oh wait.. wrong movie. Release the Glaive!

  • YES!! This movie ROCKS!!!!!! Thanks for posting!!!!! :)

  • favorite fantasy movie of all time

  • James Horner, the composer who also did Star Trek 2 is a fucking god

  • people now a days are spoiled with cgi and huge special effects that look real...when I was a kid you had to use your imagination more and what they did with the little they had makes these films stand out above all the newer films..

  • @Drakiis To me many cgis look much more unrealistic than those old fashioned effects.

  • @Drakiis Oh please just leave out the anti-CGI speech. Movies today like The Lord of the Rings make extensive use of CGI for special effects, but then so did this one, they just didn't have CGI back in these days. If they had made this movie today, they would have used CGI. This movie had a fairly simple and cliched plot but I bet they were hoping the impressive special effects would sell.

  • this is when I fell in love with Liam Neeson!

  • I am glad to see that others know about this movie and like it also i really like it when I saw it in 1983 first time had to see it in german at a movie theatre there i just love the princess!

  • Thanks for posting this, Krull was one of my favourite movies as a kid.

  • I don´t get what´s supposed to be bad about this movie. Okay, the story is primitive and very similiar to Star Wars...but the production design and most of the characters are very fascinating to me. I´ve never seen someone like the Emerald prophet, the Widow in the Web or Ergo (a very ambivalent character) before or after.

  • ..actually it's not a "B" movie since it's score was done by James Horner...and if you happen to see the effects they were superb during those times...it's actualy an upgrade from those sword and sandal films from the "80s. i loved this movie...it also had behind the scenes special during those times for their production...so this is definitely not a "B" movie. :)

  • I love this movie. It's not academy award material, but I still like it. It's kind of a "cult classic". It also has Liam Neeson in 1 of his earliest roles. The special fx are on par with similar movies from that era. As a kid, I remember my uncle taking my cousin & I to see this at the theater. Also, it has an (pretty cool) arcade video game based on it, & also an (not as cool) Atari 2600 port. It was 1 of the first video games based on a movie. Popeye being the other.

  • Amazing! Ty for uploading =]

  • pablobreitner, you never heard of Liam Neeson? he played Qui-gon Jin on Star wars The Phantom Menace, and the bad ass dad in the movie Taken

  • Thank you for posting n sharing. enjoy....linking ~ connecting ~~~

  • I love this movie! I´m a big fan of it!

  • this should be on mst3k

  • Oh, the possibilities. LOL.

  • Even if James Horner tried to rip off himself, he couldn't sound any more Horner-ish than he does here. All his motifs are in place and correct.

I actually love Horner's scores, but he's SO distinctive.

  • Anybody who liked this check out my fan tribute on here: KRULL FAME (i can't put the link)

  • Oh crap, that's the dude from Deep Space Nine!

  • @ 6: 25b behind those mountains looks going to do something likes going to rain.Who's agree with me on that one?

  • I remember seeing this back in 1983 at the Odeon in Worthing. A brilliant movie and vastly under-rated. James Horner's score is superb with a touch a la Wrath Of Khan & Battle Beyond The Stars. Thanks for uploading.

  • I disagree with the OP, this was far from a B movie in 1982...in 1982 this movie was killer!

  • @eastwood13 agreed, this movie even had a video game out for it.

  • @BricktownBubba Dear god where?! I totally want that game! XD

  • @eastwood13 totally agree.....

  • @eastwood13, "Krull" was released in 1983.

  • @eastwood13 I was just thinking the same. But I don´t understand why it wasn´t a success.

  • @eastwood13 The film had a poor opening weekend and suffered dreadful reviews. Variety called it a "blatantly derivative hodgepodge of Excalibur meets Star Wars." The BBC chimed, "a sub standard space opera with pretensions to being a British Star Wars."

  • @eastwood13 : Yates = SF B-movie. Always.

  • knightwoolf1-Man I haven't seen this movie in a long time. And hell no, it wasn't a B movie. Back then this was a hit. One of the best!

  • They filmed this in New Jersey.

  • No they didn't. It was filmed in the UK, Italy and the Canary Islands. Check these things before you post next time.

  • @smallfrogge excuse me I don't think they filmed this in UK. I don't think the people don't talk like UK way.I agree with @verd3.

  • @verd3 I agree with you there that they filmed this in NJ. I don't know why @smallfrogge saying about this was made in UK.

  • He is saying it because it is true, just check the movies filming locations for the FACTS!

  • Smallfrogge is right. This was filmed in the locations he mentions. Actors' accents have little to do with where a movie is filmed. A little bit of research proves verd3 and klbates all kinds of wrong.

  • Really, are people just too lazy to have a look at IMDB?

  • Yep lol

  • Does anyone know where they filmed this movie?

I want to live my last days near those mountains

  • one of my favorite soundtracks.....

  • Dats true story rite ere!... Wel dats wot i thought wen i first saw it as 10 year old boy :--) classic tho...tanx 4 upload an brinin bck sum memories

  • You brought back some memories. I remember this when I was in third grade. I was spending a year at my grandmothers house in Philly, and watched this on HBO (the only other rival then was WHT). I just turned 33 and.... Thanks for uploading..... I watched this movie so many times when I was little... Wow.... Age is a curse.

  • Cheers for this Fav movie,Ha felt like I was video recording in the movies, gotta get me some connectors to record this.Awesome

  • Cool movie.. I liked "The Widow Of The Web"... that was one big spider...movie had great special effects for it's time.

  • thank you !!!!!!!!

  • thankyou for posting remember seeing this when i was young good to see postive comments for once :)

  • I been waiting forever for someone to post this movie on here. I love you lol

  • I loved this movie when i was a kid. I loved all of the monster and it was just awsome

  • this is what happens when Star Wars goes medieval on your ass :)

    awesome

  • @99hesoe this is star wars with the lord of the rings in one movie wooooow!,this is awesome..ha ha ha!

  • Wow, 4 minute long opening credits... EPIC!

This is an awesome film. Thanks for posting.

  • thanks for uploading this

  • yay! Thanks for uploading. I was hoping I'd find this movie on youtube :) One of my favorites when I was little. I both loved it and was freaked out by it, lol.

  • first time i saw this movie was over 21 years ago the thing i liked about this movie was the music mostly great film!!!

  • the music is amazing

  • love this film. thank you:)

  • and yet one of the cheesiest "B" grade fantasy flicks called "the sword and the sorcerer" is worth the most, seen it as high as 50 bucks on dvd because of it being out of print. I think krull may be the same, i know Ice pirates is OOP too heh

  • OMG.

I just realize the failure of my ways. I've been looking for this movie for a very, long time. But I was led astray, I thought this move was that of a Beastmaster movie.

I remember many scenes, mainly in the fortress, some kid, a tiger, and people being stabbed by the walls, but that's about it. But, from those scenes I can see why I thought it was Beastmaster...

But now I can finally view the movie in all it's low-budget splendor.

  • Beastmaster rocked too..he was a living He-Man

  • You do have a point there. And it's funny because the actual "living He-Man" movie was... pretty terrible (Aside from the opening), but Beastmaster, he's kind of a bad ass.

I used to hate low budget movies, but looking back on them, I really enjoy them now. They seem almost better then some current movies.

  • This movie wasn't low budget. It cost 27 million which was almost the same budget as "Return of the Jedi" which was released the same year.

  • Ah, my mistake. I usually see the word "B-movie" has to do with low budget, but maybe I'm wrong after all.

Still though, I don't think the original SW saga was all that big of a budget, maybe in the future films like RoTJ.

Regardless though, despite it "not" being low budget, I still have not been able to locate this movie from my memory since, I don't know, whenever it came out.

Maybe it wasn't low budget, but it was definitely obscure, otherwise I would have known it by now...

  • Common ya Slugs, Vote, Vote away! Lol.

  • Lovin' it! Thanks

  • One of the greatest fantasy movies that i have ever seen.Thank u for put it on youtube.
