  • I remember when Friends was over and these jerkoffs where being interviewed and one of the douches says with this smug look on his face "Well..we are the heir apparent to Friends"..yeah sure you are you idiot.A-hole is probably flipping burgers or taking it in the ass in some gay porno

  • why does the original coupling have to be remade for the US? Why can't they just watch the UK version. Its not like the context and language is different.

  • @malika585 Agreed. I'm American and I watched all the UK episodes. Glad I did too, looking at this.

  • wow, that version really sucks. I'm sorry, but that really has to be said.

  • Wow this Jeff is functionally retarded.

I feel like this guy just took a dump on Richard Coyle's face.

  • wow, the US got this crap, they should have just given them the UK version

  • I just feel sorry for the US audience - because they 'adapted' and re-cast the show for US television, the US never got to see Sarah Alexander in all her pomp and majesty.

    :-)

  • @flygweilo

At least they eventually got Gina Bellman in "Leverage".

  • wow this is fucking lame

  • suck you, US coupling!

  • ugh... americans really have a way to make it worse.

Coupling, ugly betty, another UK show that I don't remember the name, but it's about gays,...

As far as the sitcoms goes, british are the masters. all of my favourite sitcoms are from england.

  • wait.... that was Jeff??? i thought it was Oliver.

  • I'd sue NBC if I were Steven Moffet.

  • @MPatrick1970

It would be nice if he could, but he was involved in the making, I think. As an exec producer.

  • I didn't even know that there was an US version. I have seen clips of it know and it totally sucks big time.

  • Horrible casting decisions. They obviously tried too hard to not make it like the UK version as much as possible...It failed. I'm American...I watched the UK coupling...great show! "I'm Jezzable...The french Beetch" Or something like that...It's been a while.

  • @jido35 I'm Gisselle :o) and the episode is funny as hell

  • Yeah...I love that episode.

  • This is a disgrace to the real BBC coupling which was an ingenious show I'd not seen anything like before.

  • the amateur-hobby actors from in my town can do actually better than this (and they are drunk all the time)

  • What the hell was NBC thinking????

The Red Dwarf cover was bad, but this is just absurd!

  • I just considered taking my life with a spoon. That was ghastly!

  • Wait, someone actually likes the US version BETTER! No. No. NO NO NO NO NO NO NO! No. Just watching that clip was worse than watching them ruin Jeff's image in the last episode. (if youv'e seen it you know what I mean.) That was horrible acting, just plain horrible acting!

  • Absolutely APPALLING! *speechless*..and yes, in a bad way!

  • This is really awful. The UK show is absolutely hilarious, one of the funniest shows I've ever seen, but this isn't even funny. It's just lame.

  • I can't believe NBC did such a terrible job with this. They had a lot to work with and they totally ruined a great opportunity to create another one of the hit sitcoms that were the brand of the network in the 90s.

  • No.

  • @brownmaple13 what???????????????????????????

  • This is almost depressing to watch... I'm gonna watch the UK version instead of wasting my time with this.

Why does "Jeff" look annoying and "Sally" fake?

  • The Coupling US version: Epic FAIL!

  • Holy crap, the US version is horrible...

  • US version sucks

  • Man, no wonder the US verion failed.

  • the bbc coupling is the best i still love watching it and jeff was the man

  • i didnt even know there was a US coupling and i'm glad this shit sucks at least these people redeemed themselves by making a US The Office

  • The true Jeff Murdoch is a legend, this guys...sucks!

  • Richard left because he was afraid of being typecasted. Guess who else got typecasted that we know of... Yes, Jennifer Anniston. ALL of her roles are "Rachel" from friends.

  • I didn't know about Richard's reasons for leaving the show. I read somewhere that he didn't even want to show up for the series 4 finale of Coupling. Do you happen to know why?

  • he didnt want to be typecast

  • it's such a waste of space to even post the US Coupling -- the BBC guys were so hot and the Americans so....NOT!

  • This Jeff was awful and the casting of him in particular probably sunk the show.

  • wow...wtf is this crap.....?

  • If you've never ever watched Coupling (U.K) before and you saw that you would lose all faith in the show.

Richard Coyle is the only Jeff ever!!!!!

  • richard coyle is funny and hot! this guy is not!!

  • Richard Coyle is the one and only JEFF!!!

  • US coupling sucks!!!

  • i agree with everyone, no-one can compare to richard coyle, wat made him so funny was the way he took himself seriously and yet was so unconfident, it gave him a perfect delivery, this guy just cannot do it, the crappy script doesnt help either

  • When it comes to playing jeff there can be only one

  • Richard.

    Coyle.

    Is.

    The ONLY.

    JEFF.

  • ORIGINAL American comedy can be great (Friends, Fraser, Girlfriends, The Simpsons, Family Guy etc), but remaking britcoms into American sitcoms, apparently doesn't alwasy work.

  • You see THIS is why I don't watch American sitcoms anymore! They kill BBC ones and they would never under the face of GOD compare to Richard Coyle!

  • I love Richard Coyle.

  • Well, he's no Richard Coyle.

  • THIS SUCKS!! The original UK version is clearly better!!!

  • Jeff's character is all about delivery...this stuff is SOOOOOOO amazingly flat.

  • Wow. Just because you add a laugh track, does not mean anything funny has happened. An important tip.

  • Look I know it's hip to bash all things American these days, but if you can't see the humor in the U.S. version of the Office, then you simply have no sense of it to begin with.

  • american comedy is just awful comparing to the british version!! sucks sucks sucks!

  • Why does the US always try to imitate hit UK programs? It does not and will never work, because the British sensibility and wit is unique. The US versions of Coupling, The Office, Changing Rooms, Antiques Roadshow and Queer As Folk all sucked arse.

  • okay whoa whoa! i agree i LOVE the uk version of the office but if you cant admit that its good then youre just full of it! the us coupling sucked to the max! and dont pick on antiques roadshow!

  • hey hey hey, please don't pick on the office cuz i love both versions and btw american humor is dif. from brit., you must admit that americans also have a certain style that brits just can't copy and vice versa! OK!!!!

  • @tektive I dont think Brits would want to copy the american style. At least I hope not because british commedy is probably the best in the world. By the way, i'm portuguese, not brit.

  • @pleurotusp2 ...and, of course, there's only one Jeff Murdoch.

  • @pleurotusp2 i tottaly agree

  • Three words for you: "Days Like These". The perils of adaptation run both ways. Then again, the U.S. version of "Betty La Fea" is an undeniable improvement over the original. You'll never hit the ball if you don't take a swing.

  • Well, there's one problem: the UK's Coupling is really an amalgam of 3 American shows: Seinfeld (the Jeffisms, et al), Friends (interpersonal relationships), and Sex and the City (sex, obviously) NBC is at fault for ruining this.

  • Im going to have to say thats not remotely true and one of the most ignorant things ive read in a while. The Jeffisms are actually far closer to the crazy phrases which came up with old british comedies like Monty Python which..shock horror came waay before Seinfeld , and if you think Friends and Sex and the city are the first shows to have interpersonal relationships and sex then well..i dont know what to say to you.

  • The creator of the show, Steven Moffat, even admitted to those three shows being his inspiration. I'm not saying those things didn't exist before. I'm just saying the door swings both ways. In the case of an American Coupling, NBC screwed it up royally.

  • As a Brit who knows the excellent UK original. It would be great to see more of the US version just to see if it was as bad as legend has it.

  • that jeff is bullshit lol
