  • whats the song name of the piece movie on 1.06

  • @iStick Any idea of how to adjust the contrast and brightness of a shoot? I'm thinking of directing a High School movie based on a spare-time screen play, and I need advice on how to make a film similar to "The Crazies" in the darkness and pace. My only problems are finding the Actors... And a decent enough low-price camera...

  • @E5CAPEGOAT For actors I would ask friends and family, as they are already well aware of you and closer to you than someone from an acting agency would be. Of course their talent might not be as great, but you could just do more takes until they get it right as well. :)

As for cameras, there are getting to be a lot of hard drive camcorders that record great quality and aren't that expensive. And brightness and contrast can be adjusted very nicely in most video editing programs. :)

    Hope I helped

  • @iStick yes i guess so mate thanks.i would send u a msg if i need any assistance.

  • @iStick thanks for uploading the video greeting from Belgium

  • 1:12 funny

  • New drinking game: Take a shot every time the kid points at the camera!

  • In photography, these are basic tips, but fundamental. Well put together and the points are demonstrated in a clear reflection of the concept.

  • The thing is: With some of the projects I do, random movement like the one seen w/o a tripod is actually better for the kind of shot I do, while other shots are better with a tri-pod, so sometimes I switch things up with freehand or not.

  • interesting

  • if you like to see the cinema history watch *BIRTH OF CINEMA* in youtube and enjoy.

  • Asian wives waiting **busizz4me.info**

  • hey man, I love the video. I'm a short film maker myself, and love watching other people help amateurs at starting how to make their own home movies. Great job. Also, I was wondering what editing system (program) you use for your videos. I use a earlier version of FCP (Final Cut Pro 5.0.4).

  • Hey can I take the part where you show shots recorded without a tripod and a tripod and i will put your channel on my credits...

  • some durn good ad-vice thar, podner! Keep'em coming

  • those were actually good tips

  • Great tipss...Thanks...

  • Hi there,

Doing a video project with my English class - a trailer for the Steinbeck novel 'The Pearl'. They are loving it and really enjoyed your video. It helped them learn about camera angles and the use of tripods etc - absolutely brilliant. Many thanks for putting it out there!

  • Hey grt tips...

  • Hey :)

would it be ok if I used your video in a project??

  • Tks for the tip bud! I'm going to keep them in mind.

  • ill be working with you one day. on a monster blockbuster production. mark my words

  • beautiful

  • thanks for the quick reminder

  • What di you use like what source? , A camera , webcam ? Please reply.. Thank you

  • what is the difference between a grip handle and a Steadicam?. Which is better for me for short films? I have a Canon Vixia HG21.

Between Opteka X-GRIP and Manfrotto 585 ModoSteady? which do you recommend for short films?

  • You should improve the audio. That's even more important than a tripod.

  • epicness

  • Hi, I'm Jose and I'm from Spain. I saw your video and I liked it. But, wich music you used in the "With tripod" images? Is a kind of classical music or similar... What's its name? I would greatly appreciate it... (that sentence was translated by the Google translator, I don't know if it is right... :) )

    Anyway, thank you so much!

    Jose S.J.D.

  • awesome lol u r cute though.

  • I like it

  • Thanks

  • i thought a medium shot was just from the waist up

  • The end where the duck is floaying away. D: and when you lit the rule of thirds on fire!!! >:o

  • What about good audio?

  • nice tips

  • never stand in the center!

  • Thanks. Do you know where some good quality sound effects can be downloaded/???

  • Adding to your tips kid.

1.) You can use a tripod, but handheld is better if you're stable with the camera. Steadicam is amazing. If you can't buy one, BUILD one. (It's simple. Weight = Balance = Steady shots on the move)

2.) EDIT EDIT EDIT!!! It is impossible to make anything good in one take (Unless you are Robert Altman or Achmed Imanovic)

3.) LIGHTING!!! Cameras require more light than the human eye does. Unless you're shooting outside in daytime, bring a light source off screen.

  • looks ike you have a lot of fun filming

  • Is rule of thirds the same as 180 degree rule?

  • nice video :)

really some nice tips. some of them I knew already but that's logic in the every learning path ;P

  • The rule of Thirds is basically a part of a good composition. Only composition can also be about the depth of field.

  • Very well done! Great video and very teaching.

  • Youre awesome. :)

  • Great video man!

  • awesome video. One thing to add: If you want a steadicam feel but can't buy a professional steadicam rig, use your tripod. Placing one hand on the center of one of the legs, and holding the handle/gear with the other hand so you can move the camera at a moments notice. Makes for some great smooth shots but still gives an element of handheld without a lot of the shakiness.

  • this really helps!

  • 1:11 Funny

  • LOL at 1:11

  • stool vidion, lmao! cheers for the tips dude! you rock!

  • whats the song at 0:54

  • alot of these techniquies i learnd by hard observation and slow by looking at film shots, modern film is better, you can give the camera a little shake from here and there with no excuses :D LIFE!!!

  • thanks this helped alot

  • Regarding rule of third: I watched an episode of South Park a few days ago, and Stan was talking to Bebe. Both the characters were in the middle of the screen, so whenever the camera switched to the opposite character, both the characters faces looked the same and were in the smae place. It was a little confusing to look at.

  • Haha :) liked it

  • Dam, I already learned it at film school... And my tripod is really bad... It broke...

And also to make a good film, you have use alot of money. And color correction effect... And the biggest parts: In the film, DO NOT LOOK IN TO THE CAMERA! and DO NOT LAUGH!

  • i like how he is willing to express himself and not worry about how dumb he may look
