  • Nick Drake!! reincarnated..

  • His timbre reminds me a lot of Percy Sledge ...

  • something like..........ian anderson and bill withers..........

    sounds good!

  • I missed this type of quality music, wow what a talent! Wish I hade my vinyl player left, so I could order the 12" album, will have to do it with the iTunes version in stead.

  • @bvinkestijn just buy yourself one at a local flea market for 10-15 bucks

  • Can anybody tell me how this old school style of music calls.wanna listen to more of this style but have no idea where to look.thx

  • @ItzquincyJones blues or soul ..

  • Holy shit...

  • I like his pace, there's no rush, chill...

  • that flute...

  • Big talent.

  • Reminds me very much of the great Terry Callier, and that is a real compliment to any musician

  • It's like somebody has hidden him in closet in '70s, and let him free just now...! Way to go man!

  • I don't know shit about the flute, but that guy fuckin rules.

  • Goosebumps

  • I'd like to see him play with Ron Burgundy.

  • So reminds me of Bryter Layter era Nick Drake or 70s in general really, though in a good way.

  • Brilliant! Although I would have the bassist to have a little more free reign earlier in the song. Eg from the second chorus. It sounded nice :D x

  • In one word: Awesome...

  • The flute remembers me of Gil Scott-Heron.

  • The flute...........ahhh the flute

    I love it!!!

  • I'm addicted. This is so great ..

  • Great Music. Look at the MASSIVE bunch of Hair in the Background . Hahaha

  • Damn it, BBC really got it this year. This is THE sound of 2012.

  • Whats going On Michael? this is class and I guess we haven't yet seen the best of this truly talented young man

  • amazing

  • jethro tull vs marvin gaye

  • I was just gonna say, this guy deserves to be on Later with Jools to get his music heard. And here it is.

  • Modern day Nick Drake.

  • @crisatunity i know what you mean

  • AWESOME... :)

  • wonderful voice! such an awesome vibe!

  • Where do i find this jumper?!

  • Fantastic. I very much look forward to the album.

  • I think this is beautiful. It don't have to be original to be brilliant. Sounds of woodstock ring throughout and it's beautiful without a doubt !

  • what a voice! I jut get lost in it

  • oOh I love the 70's soul feel.Reminds me of Al Green and Marvin Gaye:)

Really beautiful words and voice!Digging everything about this!:)

  • The man has an amazing voice. Nobody could deny that. But I just can't get behind any musician who borrows the style of his influences so heavily. It's 2012. Let's make something new for fuck sake.

  • Beautiful. The comparison to Terry Callier is good. Also Richie Havens.

  • @markh64 Dude he's Bill Withers and Gill Scott-Heron put together all over!! This song has the exact sound of the late great Scott-Heron back in his hay day...one more thing...FUCK THE NEW WORLD ORDER!!

  • Absolutely stunningly beautiful

  • Cuantos huevos para cantarle a Bjork en la jeta....un genio!!

  • stunning talent. reminds me of Terry Callier's beautiful Alley Wind Song from '73. lovely arrangement. can't wait to see him live next year. reasons to be cheerful 123! happy christmas everyone!

  • Yazz Flute

  • Ive listened to a lot of music in my live for work and pleasure, this guy, 24 years old is one of the best. What a talent. I hope them music industry allows him to continue to bless us with his talent. Yes, he is only 24!!!!

  • Such a groovy vibe, that funky geezer on the flute gives Ron Burgundy a run for his money.

  • hes good, like him

  • Yeah, good sound. But he ain't no Otis Redding.

  • @drogoscg1 hes just getting started

  • Reminds me of another time for sure...

  • Yep, this really is VERY good. Who is the flautist? Can't seem to find out - anyone know?

    JillD

  • Amazing stuff, real soul just like the old days :)

  • amazing !!! it's like a young Terry Callier ...btw the guy on flute .....wow....this guy really can play ...he's handling the scales like a magician!

  • really really love this. the flute is magical

  • fantastic soul sound...it certainly was the best performance on Jools Holland....i closed my eyes after 5 seconds of his voice and its Bill Withers and then some....has a great future....long

live the 70s sound...funk and soul man!!!

  • hes sooo 70s finally some great new music from these days :D

  • Thanks so much for posting this. Glad Michael has made it onto Jools. Lovely song.

  • Gorgeous voice. Anyone else think Van Morrison when hearing this?

  • @TwiggyShip Yep, I reckon this track wouldn't have sounded out of place on Astral Weeks.

  • This song has such a haunting melody during the verses and is very reminiscent of the late 60's / early 70's. I actually prefer this live performance to the studio version on his EP (the flautist is awesome). MK clearly has immense raw talent and a wonderful, soulful voice.

  • what a beautiful soulfull voice. reminds me of vintage Terry Callier and Labi Sifre though he's clearly a star in his own right...can't wait for the album. wonderful arrangement. excellent band

  • @dandriv085 huh?

  • This guy has a real vintage soul in his voice. This song sounds like something straight out of soul's heyday, while still being new and original. Well done to Michael. Looking forward to your album.

  • @hazuinf reminded me of a soundtrack you may have heard on a seventies blaxploitation movie set in New York. Love love love it. And you can't beat a bit of flute!

  • @Skip1967 Yeah. Really great stuff. Agreed on the flute part : )

  • This song is like a breath of fresh air!

  • Restored my faith in music and great flute by the way

  • Loves this and this instrument sounds awesome so different !!

  • 1:15 Chad Smith likes it :)

  • lovely tone of voice. we have so many very good female singers on the go. not enough good male voices getting air time.

  • This Guy Is Great... Only heard him last night but he is brilliant :D

  • Really like this on the show last night.

  • Thanks for posting - glad he did this on later - it's his best song...needs a re-release/promotion when the album comes out...share this with all your friends on facebook - make him massive - he deserves it....

  • Great surprise on Jools last night. Best new talent he's showcased since Amy W. Album will be a smash.
