I missed this type of quality music, wow what a talent! Wish I hade my vinyl player left, so I could order the 12" album, will have to do it with the iTunes version in stead.
The man has an amazing voice. Nobody could deny that. But I just can't get behind any musician who borrows the style of his influences so heavily. It's 2012. Let's make something new for fuck sake.
@markh64 Dude he's Bill Withers and Gill Scott-Heron put together all over!! This song has the exact sound of the late great Scott-Heron back in his hay day...one more thing...FUCK THE NEW WORLD ORDER!!
stunning talent. reminds me of Terry Callier's beautiful Alley Wind Song from '73. lovely arrangement. can't wait to see him live next year. reasons to be cheerful 123! happy christmas everyone!
Ive listened to a lot of music in my live for work and pleasure, this guy, 24 years old is one of the best. What a talent. I hope them music industry allows him to continue to bless us with his talent. Yes, he is only 24!!!!
fantastic soul sound...it certainly was the best performance on Jools Holland....i closed my eyes after 5 seconds of his voice and its Bill Withers and then some....has a great future....long
This song has such a haunting melody during the verses and is very reminiscent of the late 60's / early 70's. I actually prefer this live performance to the studio version on his EP (the flautist is awesome). MK clearly has immense raw talent and a wonderful, soulful voice.
what a beautiful soulfull voice. reminds me of vintage Terry Callier and Labi Sifre though he's clearly a star in his own right...can't wait for the album. wonderful arrangement. excellent band
This guy has a real vintage soul in his voice. This song sounds like something straight out of soul's heyday, while still being new and original. Well done to Michael. Looking forward to your album.
@hazuinf reminded me of a soundtrack you may have heard on a seventies blaxploitation movie set in New York. Love love love it. And you can't beat a bit of flute!
Thanks for posting - glad he did this on later - it's his best song...needs a re-release/promotion when the album comes out...share this with all your friends on facebook - make him massive - he deserves it....

So reminds me of Bryter Layter era Nick Drake or 70s in general really, though in a good way.

Brilliant! Although I would have the bassist to have a little more free reign earlier in the song. Eg from the second chorus. It sounded nice :D x
