If anyone cares to look at the specs of the Boxster S and the base 911 cabriolet, they will see there is very little between them. 0-100 times are pretty much identical, for instance.

Also, those who advocate comparing the Boxster with the 911 Coupe are missing the point. The Boxster is a convertible so the only valid comparison is with the 911 cab.

What counts in favour of the Boxster is that it was designed from scratch as a cabriolet, and it has excellent mid-engined balance.

@MultiMarco911 no you are wrong mate,. PDK and manual sift is like day and night, it is perfect shifting everytime. The boxster is also tuned and god knows what else is done to it, but PDK is way faster, beyond words compared to a normal manual.

@oversteerdawg Actually, the 3rd race is a replay as well. Score is 1 - 1. You really have to pound on the synchros and shift fast to keep up with a PDK car. The 997S took race 2 by shifting faster. In the first race, he was shifting pretty leisurely.

For real guys, look into the Carrera's mirror at 0:06, the body line near the c pillar is a deck lid for the soft top, a Carrera 2S converatable is slower than a Carrera 2S. I think a manual Carrera Coupe would pull on the Boxster up top.

Nice and close! Question on the 997; did the Mark II 997's up the power for the 'S' and 'non-S' 911s? Or is it just the Turbo/S models?

If so, do you thiink it would have made the difference in this race? Either way, great stuff, I like manuals but that PDK is absolutely wonderful. Would have been nice to see the Boxter Spyder out there as well :)

Come on! Not that hard to figure out: New Boxster S has 310 bhp plus a very quick PDK which makes a big difference in this kind of setting. The Carrera S MKI has just 55 bhp, more weight and a much slower manual transmission. So not that hard to see this...

Looking into the passenger side mirror you can tell that the carrera is a convertable. They are heavier than a coupe bodystyle and as such they are slightly slower.

A Boxter is a proper Porsche because it has a mid engine, better weight distribution and handling. Smaller Lighter. The Regular Carrera's are over weight and under powered, About as good as a Nissan Z really.
