The Duratec engine is not an Volvo engine. It's a Ford unit built by Ford and USED in Volvos. Along with several other models. I noticed he made that mistake when referring to the new RS also.

Did you look at what they pay for this car in Europe? Do a little simple math and it becomes obvious why it isnt sold in the US. Unless they could perform a financial miracle or cut some major corners this thing wouldn't sell. Its in Europe due to gas prices over there and the style of autos they drive.

How many people do you know that would pick this over a comparable priced sports car in the US? This is an expensive compact car with decent power. Ill take my 426 HP V8 any day.

@gumper1986 Well, they think the Ford Focus SES Sport is good enough for US market....but, I mean, I rented that SES a month ago, I really liked the style and the gadgets it comes with, especially the 17 inches wheels and the stereo system, but it is just a 2.0 engine and there were a couple of things missing for a car of that category they want to sell it at. Great suspension, but not as sporty as this ST could be. This ST is really sporty, starting with that 2.5 ltr turbo engine.

Unless my math and estimates are wrong the reason this car isn't sold in the US is because it would likely not sell because of its cost. Our Focus is an entry level 'daily commuter' on a budget car.

The cost of this car would put it up against a Camaro 2SS with 426 HP V8 with all the goodies, a Ford Mustang GT Premium with a 412 HP V8, and a Dodge Charger R/T. Thats just the muscle cars it would be priced near, not even considering all the imports that people would settle on for far less.
