Remember this fight well. 5.23secs is still one of the best right hands ive ever seen. Seem to remember it was used in the opening titles of Sportsnight.
i remember this fight. i thought quarless mighta gone on to bigger things but then he got stopped soon afterward and was never the same again. Handy fighter though - he would be too small to compete today at heavyweight but could be a handful as a cruiser
Each time I see thsi clip my impression of NQ increases. So sad that so few fighters take the opportunity of complimenting potential rivals (as he did of Dave Pearce).
noel quarless is the coolest white heavyweight ever.

Quarless was a good solid fighter, though I remember Funso Banjo beating him easily.

What a gentleman Noel Quarless was. Such respect and civility. In my opinion NQ was a credit to boxers as well as boxing.

Was Gardiner a pikey?

Not sure why the announcer would say Gardner has a good chin in such an emphatic way. Gardner's chin was certainly suspect.

Mike Dokes pole axed Gardner at a canter,Typical horizontal heavyweight.

Thanks for uploading some videos of John L. Gardner. Good to see him get some exposure even in losing efforts.
