This is so stupid. Surfing is not about some old bastard talking about points and "rubbing your competitors nose in the sand". If you have an attitude like that you should find a new sport.
This vid shows why the effort to transform surfing from the most joyful pastime on Earth into a professional venture is so sad and immoral.
When Brett comes in from a surf and somebody asks him "How was it?" he probably says something like "What, my training? It was good. We accomplished many of our objectives." Guy: "I meant the surf, asshole. Like was it fun or not. Nevermind."
Ian reminds me of Mozart's dad, in a bad way. Oh wait, Brett just won a bunch of money, I must be wrong.
@TheRiversDark ian cairns is pretty famous in the surfing world, and its not like brett is forced to do this.... why would he surf if he didn't like it. He also gets paid for it why is that a bad thing? If there were no comps some of us would never get the chance to surf all over the world.
@TheRiversDark, no way, it's all good. Progressive professional surfing, or professional anything, basically, is good. We can all benefit from it if we care to. We can all also ignore it, and do it our own way.
