Now that I think of it, the trippiness of the song is quite appropriate for Mario. I mean, we have a fat Italian plumber who travels to magic lands, jumping on walking mushrooms and riding around on dinosaurs to ultimately save some bitch from a horny dinosaur/turtle thing. The entire Mario series might actually be Mario's drug trip, as he's taken to hitting bongs so he doesn't realize that in reality he's just some fat, greasy Italian midget who scrapes shit out of pipes for a living...
