  • So if I had the basic cable from the wall going into an RF modulator, which was going into this card, I could watch the regular tv channels?

  • @Bernstein127 You don't even need the RF modulator just screw the cable right into the card and yes you can watch all the regular channels.

  • you spent all those dollars to play this shitty game?

    I hope NOT

  • @dadvoc666 I'm a retro gamer and I review retro games on YouTube and what do you think I use to record those? Good God man this is not a shitty game it's just old. There's a difference.

  • @MN12BIRD well that's a relief :)

  • ANY WAY to get satelite tv WITHOUT paying Direct tv your whole paycheck, on your tv??? I bought that govt. mandated switch over box just to see how many tv channels I could get with it, without using my satelite, boy does it suck!!! In the olden days we could get the cable guys to hook us up for the cost of a six pack. Why can we not get around paying direct tv, dish network etc.. on our tv sets????

  • so if i plug my coaxial cable from my digital cable service into it i can watch all of my 900 channels on it?

  • @blowupuate13 Nope. Because your cable company encodes their signal so you can't decode it with off the shelf devices like a standard TV Tuner. You usually have to get the box from your Cable company unless they use QAM witch is what these TV Tuners can decode but pretty much none of them do.

  • @MN12BIRD oh... so i need to get a converter box from them and then run the coax from converter to pc... i got ya!

  • @MN12BIRD So i can plug a cable box on this and watch cable tv like that?

  • @rkoguy Yep. Think of it like a TV and VCR you can plug anything into it that your would plug into a TV or VCR to watch or record.

  • @MN12BIRD All right cool.

  • Hey, could you please tell me what software you use with the card? I've got the Sapphire version. Haven't been able to find any software that works with it since upgrading to 7 from XP. VLC gives me video on the composite (yellow) pin, but nothing else, and no other programs work at all. Kinda hard to find other people using this card to ask questions of!

  • @northcoasthelicam I use the ATi Catalyst media center that came with it on the CD

  • there are cheap and expensive ones are they all the same ? are some of them faster better etc idk ?

  • @nikolassj Some have better video quality than others, some have hardware mpeg encoding processors so when you record video (esp HD video) it barley uses your CPU, others don't work in Windows 7 x64 so well. All things to keep an eye out for.

  • @MN12BIRD ah thanksies :D

  • will it do hdtv channels if i use my cable box?

  • @nolabush25 No there would be no way to get HDTV from another source with only Composite and S-Video inputs you would need one with Component input like the Hauppage HD PVR box.

  • Does this require DirectX 8.0?

  • i got windows vista and i want to be able to useone of thses so how do you install the tv turner in your pc basically where does it go i dont know anything about computers so yea i wouldnt know where to begin putting that and you skipped it in your vid so yea where did it go????

  • You plug it inside the pc. I'd make a tut, but i don't have one :D. Just search it, you'll learn.

  • So if i got a tv tuner i could plug my dish box into the tuner and watch tv on my monitor? That would be awesome cuz my monitor is nicer than my tv

  • pierdoli i pierdoli trzy po trzy

  • is it compatible in windows xp?

  • Yes. XP, Vista and 7, 32-bit and 64 all work fine

  • did you use a gamebridge?

  • Used to use one

  • did u find the audio would sometimes sound messed up and 'wobble'?

  • hey, will this work if i have the modem cable and plug that wire into the card? i mean will that fit?

  • Yes I used to use a splitter so I could use the cable modem and watch all my cable TV channels on the PC

  • I see

  • ive got my video capture usb device which works pretty good, but it doesent record my saturn which im gutted about. this looks like a pretty nice card though man.

  • I know this may sound like a dumb question Jake, but if I buy the same capture card would it work in 32 bit XP?Or would I need a certain one for a 32 bit OS?

  • Nice stuff!

  • jake is this better then a dazzle or a dvd maker

  • i have a tv tuner and rf does work

  • I know that card is new but the purple thing looks like what my brother got back in 1998 when he got his TV card. His card was an ATI All in One Wonder but the real problem with having that back in 98 was that CPUs and hard-drives were so slow back then and there was 4GB file limit which really didn't help as you could only record in RGB back then as well. Technology has really come along since then and so have the prices on cards.

  • Hope Sega stuff works, several other people have had problems with it too with capture cards, even via a modded system with S-Video.

(Classic Game Room HD has to run everyting through the VCR first before it'll work -which causes significant loss in quality)

  • i personally think CGRHD has great quality but im sure it can be better oh well

  • Yeah, but he mentions (In the Afterburner vid iirc) that he has to use the VCR to to get footage off the Genny, you'll notice some grainyness (not from compression artifacting) and occasional tape glitches/tracking problems. (less noticable if you're not watching in HD)

  • I'm so happy, I found my old windows XP laptop today, along with my dazzle DVC-170

  • I'm glad to see you found a TV tuner that suits your needs and that nice long cable is extremely handy.

  • may I ask how much this costed you?

  • he said. it was around $100

  • Can you buy a usb tv tuner? I'd like one for my laptop

  • you can buy a usb capture card if you want to record gaming system

  • You could even use the capture card to watch TV if you have digital cable or satellite. Of course, the cheap-ass that I am, I don't have such a thing, but I want one. Maybe if I just save my money and get an Aiptek HD camcorder...

  • is there like ones for vista not 64 bit and you should test it

  • im gonna stick with windows xp cause my capture card works with it fine

  • Excellent score on that. I know you're stoked to see that it's better than the one that you've got now. Looking forward to seein the systems hooked up to that beast :D

  • Who the fuck gave Lukemorse1's comment a thumbs down?

  • pretty awesome setup there bud!

  • The real deal is always best. Cool capture device. That is a slick interface. Reminds me of an ATI All-In-Wonder I used to have back in the Widows 98 days lol. It had a remote and all that as well. Awesome video man I look forward to seeing game footage.

  • i have a 64 bit system now as well... but i have windows vista with an upgrade license for the win7 release day in germany (22nd Oct)

  • I have an ole All in wonder 9700pro and 9800pro vid cards, I think both are not working, but all the stuff that came with it the wires and tv changer etc can be use for something I'm sure. I'm thinking me running them on a 300watt ps in my dell 8200 probably killed them. Now I'm running a bfg 6200OC 256mb card.

  • I have a really old crappy card and wanted to buy a new one last year. I run Vista 64 bits, and got a card they said would work fine, well it didn't work well at all, returned it and got some custom drivers by some pissed of x64 users and they were pretty well with my 10 year old card!

I still want to get a new one at some point though, just a bit fearfull for trying out another...

  • what does it do?

  • Nice man, I'm interested to see how this things works out.

  • Show some more features, if you would. I am interested in the HD over the air.

  • ffs, I have to click on show all comments to see everyones comments on EVERY VIDEO and sometimes when I change pages :S YouTUbe is fucking up big time w/ this lame shit. I've saved these changes about 14 times now and still NOT BEING SAVED FFS. ah well time to enjoy another MN12BIRD video

  • vista fails!

  • I hear you this sucks... I'm running Windows 7 too and I have to get a new TV tuner. Mine (ATI TV Wonder 450 ) will work for a couple mins and then it says it has a low bit rate and shuts down media center.... And my old 450 has the same issue with RF (atari, sega) in xp... Great vid man... I'm glad im not the only person having issue in win 7 with this... After all this is said and done I'll have some more vids up too...

  • I had absolutely no idea the Diamond multimedia were still around, I thought they went out of business years ago.

  • I think they did go away for awhile but came back last year making ATi cards.

  • I think they are gone, but somebody else owns the name now. Different company, unless I'm wrong.

  • What TV Tuner card were you using in the past?

  • USB "Gamebridge" worked well enough in XP but not in Vista/Windows 7!

  • I feel your pain MN12Bird, I have a USB TV Tuner and it sucks

  • fuck that wpuld be nice to hav

  • nice, I wish I could afford one of those.

  • does it work with non-NSTC consoles like the Super Famicom?

  • Hrm good question! But the Super Famicom is NSTC it would work with that for sure. But a PAL SNES on the other hand. I don't know for sure!

  • Luckily, my TV Tuner that came with my Pentium 4 computer still works on my new quad core computer with Vista.

I have a Hauppage WinTV PVR PCI II

I actually use it for recording games for playthroughs here on youtube sometimes. Although since I don't have Media Center, I have to use DScaler, which is a free program that displays and records games.

  • Hauppage are also great TV Tuners I was considering one of theirs and this ATi 650 I heard both I was looking at were good but someone who had Windows 7 64-bit has the ATi so I knew it would work for sure.

  • is youtube seriously censored now? Let's try, shit

  • you can turn it off

maybe Ill make a vid on how to do it

you go to options by text comments and uncheck hide profanity

  • lets go hardcore, fuck ass shit bitch damn hell, i wonder if it will censor it

  • for it to be uncensored next to text comments click options, and uncheck hide profanity. You have to do it for every damn video though.

  • what the fuck? why is everything censored?

  • What doeesa TV tuner do?

  • I get CBC hd over the air off of channel 5 from Toronto. Perfect Picture quality. Nice TV Tuner. I should pick one up soon, better quality than filming the screen lol.

  • yay, better sega video! :D

  • Why the hell would they have composite and s-video but no hdmi???

  • Most capture devices/TV Tuners are not HD and don't have HDMI. First off HDMI is encrypted so you can't record most content from HDMI and secondly HD capture devices cost hundreds of dollars.

  • there is only one I know of and its expensive as hell, its about 250 bucks

  • Yeah I've only seen one too and it was about the same price. Even then I think it only had component not HDMI. If there are ones with HDMI they would be crazy expensive professional gear and like I said most HDMI sources like Bluray is encrypted so you cant record the HD signal anyway.

  • ya it was only component

i think it was like a Hauppage PVR or something like that

  • dude, NVIDIA is way better than ATI

  • Wow. Just wow. Dude NVidia doesn't even make TV Tuners!!

  • I wasn't really comparing TV tuners I was talking about the brand in general

I switched from ATI to NVIDIA about a year ago and I never want to go back

  • That's nice. There is nothing wrong with either but modern ATi cards like the 4800 series are untouchable in their price range. The 4870 is the most common gaming card sold today hands down. I've had and liked both but right now if I needed a gaming card it would be a 4870 or 4890 no questions asked. ATi has really improved this year with the 4800 series so if you think they suck from several years ago and haven't looked at the new stuff then you don't know what you're talking about.

  • pardon my ignorance, but what is the tv tuner used for? streaming tv on your monitor?

  • Bringing in TV or other video sources to watch on your PC or record. I would use it to hook up a video game console and record the footage for my videos.

  • Do they have a Laptop version?

  • Yes there are USB versions of many TV Tuners including this ATi 650.

  • ATI makes great cap cards. Used one for a long time before i switched to mac using the elgato eyeTV now.

  • Good stuff, especially if it opens up more video making options for you............

  • love your video how much did you pay for it and does it work for windows xp thanks for the help

  • w00t first just kidding Other user spam me to fucking hell oppps censored
