  • interesting video and very informative

  • I feel sadness and hope in this music.

  • yea, and the architect's idea must be communicated in good language...

  • Gezunt, actually, Morricone is a genius... who could have seen his work spoiled if the trompete, the guitar, the piano and Yo-Yo-Ma were not so good —many times, a bad builder destroys the architect's idea...

  • My Dears, forget pop music or most of pop music; when we are hearing this we are talking about serious things; we are watching to real music —to compare is to spoil this beautiful moment...

  • some really good stuff here

  • music in a perfect harmony! Bravissimi!

  • I never thought this son could sound badass, but it did once the jazzy bit came in ;D Of course if it ever would sound badass, Yo-Yo Ma and Botti would be the ones to do it

  • mad2a you are a poet. Nice post. if you don't write , you should. I enjoyed reading your post. Yes this is the highest art form of music. Two virtuosos interacting while performing a master piece. I see Chris frequently at a nearby cafe. Such a sweet and gracious guy.

  • which piece was playing during the awards by those 3 cello groups when YoYo Ma was awarded?

  • 馬友友 OH! I LOVE HIM.

  • This is what music is supposed to sound like.

  • This music really tugs at your heart. As if being reminded of that one great object of affection, a wavering image of gentleness, a feeling nearly obscure among the clutter of memories, lingering, pervading, its small incandescent embers lighting some remote recess of the soul. Ahhhh... To a prison of regrets and yearning that advancing years sometimes lead.. Would that another lifetime come soon. To a sad and melancholy one, it is a hope held dear, a smile in the midst of sorrow.

  • @mads2a beautifully written; very well said!

  • it's truly beautiful. I love music that really makes me feel.

  • i cryyyy, i really cry!

  • That is some of the most moody, melcholy, rich, wonderful music you could ever want to hear. So nice.

  • I dont know...but theres a haunting quality about the trumpet...chris at his finest, not to forget yoyoma.......but the star of it all is Morricone's music.

  • 6:52

  • perfection.

  • so sweet beautiful performance!

  • En memoria de RICARDO GUIDA. (¡ Nene, estarás siempre en mi corazón,te quiero...!)

  • beautifull performance , yet i prefer hearing Pat Metheny & Charlie Haden's performance

  • 11 sin oídos... ni emociones...

  • inspiring. how can there be any dislikes?! just lovely

  • I saw this on PBS and loved every minute of it

  • It is as most have shared, a truly beautiful composition and a wonderful collaboration. Thanks for sharing this.

  • This is really moving...beautiful!

  • Sweet!

  • You would have to be Deaf, Dumb, Blind and a complete Tosser not to like this. Epic

  • marry me chris :((

  • Sounds like I'm about to leave someone I love forever and now I have yo say good bye .

  • The way they look at eachother is so cute. Or maybe it's just the way they play...

  • XCELLENT QUALITY A/V. THX.

  • BEAUTIFUL!!! makes me just want to stare at the sunset.

  • watch the movie, you'll enjoy the music even more, make sure you watch the extended version, 154 mins....great movie

  • @kimbrakay I thought the extended was 175 min?

  • Disliked by 9 Lady gaga fans.

  • @BabyRay55 Can I please find one video that doesn't have some idiotic comparison to pop music as a top rated comment? I wish anybody would respect music for what it is, rather than how it compares to pop music.

  • OMG! THATS THE GREATEST CELLO PLAYER AND THE GREATEST TRUMPET PLAYER IN THE WORLD ON ONE STAGE! AND PLAYING MORRICONE! UNBELIEVABLE!

  • jaw dropping great !

  • I'm in complete awe. Can hardly breathe...

  • I LOVE IT!!!!! I GET LOST IN THE MUSIC....

  • 6:52 is da climax!

  • Awesome!

    also check out my ballad!

thanks, would rlly appreciate if you would comment and rate!

    :D

  • vowww

  • great

  • awesome!!! 1love it!!

  • 8 people were too carried away by the beauty of this music, so they carelessly clicked the wrong button ....

  • 8 persone hanno cliccato non mi piace...spero per loro che l'abbiano fatto per sbaglio...è sublime<3

  • I want this to play at my funeral. It sounds sad in some parts, but when Chris plays it kinda brings some joy. I want the joy to be everyone remembering good moments I'd spent with them.

  • What's the DVD that has this piece please?^^

  • The best thing happen in my life

  • This is a tear drawer fo sho. This is probably the most amazing, I don't know what you'd call it, a duet??? Whatever, it's one of the mos amazing songs EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • absolutely beautiful!

  • I walked down the Aisle to this song at my wedding. I love it!

  • I LOVE this score, but a trumpet performing the theme in such a rubato style? It destroys the whole feel of it! It's like Miles Davis (and I love Miles) takes on Cinema Paradiso. It sounds silly to me. Especially the muted part. If I want to hear fantastic phrasing from a muted trumpet, I'll listen to Miles. If I want want the clarity and emotionality of an Italian movie score, I'll go Morricone's Cinema Paradiso. It's just one of those blends that just doesn't work, IMHO.

  • yo-yo ma def still the master.

  • Trascedental, vida

  • c'est jute magnifique !!!

  • I watched Chris botti in concert, and I cried like crazy during this piece, as I did throughout the whole concert off and on lol. But, mostly at this one . :D

  • I was watching everywhere for this dvd :( can't find it!! :(

  • @FrozenByWinter Don't know if you found the DVD yet but you can get it from Best Buy, Amazon and even Borders. Enjoy!

  • just love it. too beautiful.

  • Me emociono toda vez que assisto. Simplesmente fantástico.

  • 4 people arent living!!!

  • How can anyone dislike this?! I saw yoyo ma in concert with my father and it was the best experience. He is so gifted and to hear him perform is a great treat. Chris Botti + YoYo Ma= musical perfection

  • this is simply lovely! a great song performed by 2 very talented musicians

  • I Cry ...

  • So beautiful. Gives me goosebumps every single time.

The thought that anybody could dislike this is beyond me. How could you find yourself watching this video (I'm assuming you chose to watch it because the genre/artists interest you) and not be moved?

I swear this could melt any heart.

  • <=,)

  • God! What a wonderful interpretation, every single note makes vibrate my heart... amazing Yo-Yo Ma and Chris Botti!

  • this is poetry...

  • Just beautiful. One of my favorite pieces of music. Thanks.

  • This piece always moves me to tears. To hear the mix of these two masters was a real treat.

  • how can they play this melody without tears?

  • Such a beautiful piece. I love them both. Peace on earth, and love forever.

  • out of this world

  • this piece is just unbelievable!!! bravo!

  • I have never heard of such a great combination of cello and trumpet by two great artists. This piece from ennio is played really well by these super talented men. What would be this world without such beautiful music.

  • This is as good as it gets

  • BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • przepiekna muzyka dzialajaco kojaco na dusze i cialo :)

  • Absolutely gorgeous!!

  • Chris was definitely "in the zone" the whole night.

  • We love this whole DVD, but it was this piece that literally moved my 8 year-old daughter to tears. She looked at me and said "that's really beautiful, Dad". One of my favorite moments ever...

Guess what...she recently started taking cello lessons!

  • @tallcamel42

That is awesome!! I'm so glad to hear that your daughter was inspired by an incredible artist. We need more music in this world.

Did she enjoy Chris Botti's trumpet playing in this performance?

  • @tallcamel42 thats a wonderful story. this was rather touching to read because it was this very piece that inspired me to take up the cello when i was nine. i just completed my first year of college as a music major, still playing cello, and im actually going to be performing in an orchestra with yo yo ma in 2 months. its been an incredible journey for me, and whether your daughter chooses to stick with it or not, its a wonderful journey that i wish everyone could experience as they grow up.

  • As I said in another review I watched this on PBS several times and purchased the CD/DVD. I never get tired of it. If this doesn't reduce you to tears nothing willl

  • i just love relaxing music. wish i could do a solo on the guitar. will try though.

  • Yo Yo Ma playing this is superb but both together is....well words are not enough!

I love the deep tones of the Cello and the trumpet muted is so beautifully relaxing. Thanks for uploading this wonderful music.

  • did anyone else get here out of pure boredom and typing yo yo yo yo etc.? no?

  • man yo-yo ma's slight modulations from 4:01 are ........... no word for that

  • Bravo!!!! I'm speechless, I could cry...what a great performance!!!

  • 1 dislike?

    How can you dislike this?

This is seriously one of the most beautiful pieces of music.

  • @paul2288 The person did it accidentally.

  • very very beautifull!

  • Someone have got the scores of this music?

  • Incredible performance by both Chris Botti and the superb Yo-Yo Ma, this should rank as one of the best works done by Botti.

  • Mesmerizingly superb, the best of the best . . . thanks. Peace.

  • Like fine wine...

  • I know several people who will NOT watch a Foreign Movie ....one said that he wants to watch the Movie....not read the Movie. Yes....reading the subtitles is work....but watching "CINEMA PARADISO" is well worth the work. This one is

( I know you hear this all the time ) truly Unforgetable. Background music by the great ENNIO MORRICONE.....is beautiful. YO YO MA with his CELLO..

and CHRIS BOTTI on TRUMPET would make MR. MORRICONE proud.

  • S P E T T A C O L A R E ! ! !

  • awesome

  • Tajts so fucking beautiful hermosa cancion hermosa pelicula

  • incredible music and performance from two amazingly gifted artists. This song touches me deep.

  • no words to describe. it feels like a dream...

  • Incredible...

  • Świat staje się lepszy gdy słyszymy takie dźwięki

  • wow. They made the BOSTON POPS sound like nothing. Hard to do.

  • I've listened to this three times today :)

  • Stunning performance.

  • lovely,lovely.

  • What a beautiful music specially when heard in Hollywood Bowl under the dark blue starry skies of Los Angeles....................and with the special person in life - Nazar

  • The one person that voted thumbs down on this video does not have a heart beating inside their chest...

  • Yo-Yo Ma is our chinese great misician,太棒了^^

  • @longmel2008 Yo Yo is not a Chinese musician, he is a American French born musician. He even doesn't speak Chinese. He devoted a lot of time on Asian music, but that cannot prove him a Chinese musician. His parents are from THE REPUBLIC OF CHINA.

  • @kailin2008

that means he's Chinese, it doesn't matter where he was born and raised, he's full blooded Chinese, period.

  • @OldSchoolLad More properly he is a Taiwanese, not Chinese. His parents agree on this as well.

  • @kailin2008 Interesting. His father was born in Ningbo (宁波), and his mother was born in Hongkong. How does he become a 'Taiwanese'? Moreover, there is no 'Taiwanese', only chinese. Where are you from, by the way?

  • @Giovinco123 His parents are citizens of The Republic of China. The Republic of China, is commonly known as Taiwan. You can Google/Wiki it.

  • @kailin2008 Well, I don't need to look it up. I'm a chinese, so I'm quit familiar with the history. Your point is very interesting and makes me wonder where you are from. Are you gonna to ignore my question again?

  • @Giovinco123 You are quit familiar with the history taught by your government LOL. It is you, rather than me, who commits the fallacy of critical thinking: Red Herring. We were talking about where Yo Yo is from, I cannot see any relevance between where he is from and where I am from. Besides, I have the human rights to refuse answering such identification questions concerning personal privacies.

  • @kailin2008 Ah, forget about it. The whole argument is silly. People in China, Taiwan, France and US can all beall pround of him and consider him as their own. Let's cut it off.

  • @kailin2008 Taiwan is a province of the PRC, he's Chinese.

  • @OldSchoolLad

How is Chinese blood different from other blood? Difference in nationality is down to thinking, identification, etc but genetics I'm not sure.

  • This is beautifull!

    Very Touching.

    best part is 0:00-8:20

  • I love the softness Chris brings to the I AM SO MELTING

  • Am I the only one here who got here by typing in "yo yo yo yo yo yo yo yo yo yo yo yo yo yo yo yo yo yo yo yo yo yo yo yo yo yo yo yo yo yo yo yo yo"?

    probably... lol

  • @CIicktheYellowButton Aren't you glad you did though?

  • For David: The itimacy between the two performers reminds me of my own unrequired love. So cleary, these two very talented musicans understand the importance of hearing one another.

  • Everytime i listen to this song it brings tears to my eyes.., Yo-Yo Ma is the man.... and so is Chris Botti.

  • Brilliant! I am such a fan of Cinema Paradiso and this made me cry once more!

  • Fantastic. Chris has such an incredible tone in this trumpet. And yo-yo ma... no need to make comments. he's in his top form since he was born.

  • About 25 years ago, I was in this gigantic record store (Tower) looking for a version of Porgy & Bess that I hadn't heard. The PA was playing this music that stopped me in my tracks. I thought, God, this guy is like Jimmy Page. He is bending the instrument to his will. It was Ma. I'd give anything to identify the tune.

  • 聽了會起雞皮疙瘩

  • Impossible not to cry listening to this monsters!!! Great

  • yo yo ma and chris botti deeper leave in my mind, and even everyone

  • musica que toca el alma..........

  • Cind auzi asha muzica , vrei sa te lasi de muzica ...., ceva care nu poate avea nici macar comentariu

  • 5:36-6:14----absolutely epic

  • @fiverings37 You did find the most beautiful part indeed. I think these are the most warm and charming sounds I have ever heard in music!

  • @4difference I agree, but will add one more word. INTIMATE!!

  • it sounds so charlie haden-esque at the 4 minute mark- which isnt surprising since haden arranged it with pat metheny on "beyond the missouri sky"

  • O_O *speechless...*

  • this is one of the most moving pieces of contemporary music ....it is especially moving if youve seen the movie..this piece makes me smile with my heart

  • Beautiful. I love this song. Well done!

  • wonderful pice of musisc....not disturbed by any words....

  • actually the lyrical version by Josh Groban is quite good...the translation is a very good approximation of the emotion of young love...

  • I dont care if you're in the worst mood in the world, this song will do something to you. (In a good way)

  • It is the most beautiful version of the song that I ever heard. Wonderful ! I really love it.

  • Wonderful! made me cry...

    directo a favoritos!

  • Beautiful tune.

  • the beggining is SO beautiful. any reccomendations if I like this?

  • You might like Astor Piazzolla. "Adios Nonino" is a good one.

  • Also... "Libertango" is pretty good!

  • purest joy!

  • there is NO BODY like Yo Yo

  • No words!!!

Thank you YoYo Ma and Chris... Thank you for sharing this with us!

  • i can't even describe how much i love this performance. the trumphet is never too smooth because of its intrinsic metal- and i am also glad that they didn't play the two instruments at once cuz the clear border shows us the beautiful balance.

    in short they are heavenly.

  • I totally agree about playing both instruments separately. I enjoyed the call and return feel of it.

  • !!Fantastic Duo !!!!

  • Brilliant performance from Yo Yo Ma and Chris,so smooth and tender, having chills!

  • Yoyo seemed to leave in a hurry? A+ performance, makes me want to learn how to play

  • @kombattom He was not in a hurry. This is Chris Botti's show and Yo-yo ma didn't want to overshadow him.

  • Breathtaking.
