No, the boost switch is not on. I have the master dimed so it is taken out of the circuit and I am using the volume knob at around 2 o' clock. So its acting just like a 68' plexi. Of course the attentuator helps with managing overall volume. I think its just killer marshall tone all the way.
Yeah, Harry is a great guy. Tried he cantus at a local music store only to find out they were locally made. Turns out Harry lives 5 minutes away from me. Sent him an email and he invited me over.
He is a super nice guy and we have become friends. In fact my Cantus is over there right now getting a once over. Had some power tube issues. Maybe related to attentuator. Won't know until I get it back tomorrow and try it out again.
Between the cantus and my tophat emplexador I am in marshall heaven.
You tell me. I am not really sure. One day it's the Straub, one day it's the Tophat. Typical tone chasing. I run the cantus with the master on 10 so it's out of the circuit. So that would make the Cantus pretty much a straight up 68' plexi at that point. After saying all that, I don't think I answered all your questions. Both are fabulous amps. I know Harry Straub and you won't meet a nicer guy on the planet. If you are considering buying a Straub, I encourage you to contact Harry.
Great classic sound.

Nice sound! Do you gig with it? I thought I saw the Tophat on the Orange 2X12 in your other videos.
Either way- sweet sound and riffs!

I gig with the Emplexador. Don't need an attenuator. The emplexador is the best amp I have ever owned.

Thanks for getting back. I've had so many types of speakers (some absurdly expensive) and always come back to v30s.

nice clip!!
i'm guessing the speakers in the orange 2x12 are vintage 30s?

Yes, they are vintage 30's in there.

Yeah. I have A2 in the bridge and A5 in the neck. These are from a batch of hotter overwound ones that Rod made. They come in around 8.7 or 8.8k.

Nice work, as usual, Harry. Great playing too. These really are sweet amps, and Mr. Straub is a really nice guy, as well.
