The bird was too close to the lion and even if it had tried to fly away the lion would have leaped so far up that it would have caught it anyways. Even so as the bird I would have made some attempt to save my life and fly away in a zig zag motion, instead of just fluttering across the ground :P

Most animals out in the wild have a pretty highly developed flight response. A predator can get only so near, yet, this bird seemed to be in a daze. The lion is a few feet away, but the bird just keeps on walking as if it didn't have a care in the world. It's not as if the lion was hiding in some bush or something. It was out in the open. Weird.
