It was recorded during the New Jersey era but the record company made them release the other version, the band wanted to release this one. I think someone might have said this already but still.

Because this acoustic version just wouldn't "fit" into the album. Listen to New Jersey as a whole, and imagine this acoustic version there -- totally out of place. So, i think the recording company did right to include the "rock" version as we know it. This acoustic one is only good for some rare demo compilations, like 100 mln fans can't be wrong, etc.

joe kerry this is the original version they changed it to the other to give it more of a comercial sound bon jovi even said that if they realsed this version instead of the other one he belives this would of became number one the other version is good but this one sounds like its got more meaning to it:)
