How did you make the triggers(like the chopper coming after the shilka was destroyed) or is this a premade mission?

Good question!

I didn't use triggers because there are no triggers in the Elite editor. So i placed the chopper on the grond far away, had the platoon on the ground with a LOAD, and than the platoon with waypoints to the beach and there a UNLOAD ... etc.

So basically it becomes a time critical mission. Destroy the shilka quick otherwise the chopper will be shot down.

My observation was that the limited editor of Elite made the missions more alive cause of the 'no-triggers' workarounds:)

ArmA is like a newer version of OFP, though same feel in meh opinion. ArmA and OFP are war SIMULATIONS though, and GoW isn't a simulation, so dont know how the two could be compared... :p KEEP OFP ALIVE!

They can, but you have to have a squad of them and order them to arm at a weapons cash. Captives can even arm themselves but the only way is to have a squad because the Xbox AI won't allow them to arm themselves.

i was hooked on this game. the realism was almost unmatched and at this time halo 2 was the best game out. the few people who got this game never went offline from it it was the best game ever

The original CWC campaign wasn't that great (though it wasn't bad), but the Resistance campaign was second to none, no ifs, ands, or buts. All of the odd localization problems, terrible graphics, and superhuman soldiers in the world couldn't hurt that campaign.

They shouldn't have used Victor Troska as the first man to the moon sans spaceship, so he could have moved to Sahrani and had bad luck happen to him again.. campaign wise, ArmA needs more help than OFP ever did.

Also, if you want an impossible game, play SEAL Team (1993). It's, in a sense, the spiritual predecessor of OFP, and is often much, much harder than OFP ever was. I thought I was tough when I passed the earlier OFP FFUR/SFX/other AI mods that made OFPs original AI look easy by comparison. Then an old DOS game I could pass as a kid comes out and humbles me.

Well, Elite is not about gfx perse. The game was released in nov 2005, and even then it had sub-par gfx. So, your comment is somewhat unsurprising. Gameplay is still outstanding. The 2 campaigns are awesome. And the editor has possibilities beyond every other console game.

Firefights in wood areas are fantastic. Many times I've fought against one squad, pinning them down in one neck of the woods, only to have the other AI squad swing in from behind us and tear us up in the crossfire.

Or watching an enemy convoy scatter when they get carpeted with RPG fire from a forested hillside.

Or hiding out in a forest, only to be bombard from above by a pair of Sukhoi's.

The visuals and action in OFP are the finest in any military simulation.

hthis game is nasty first off. Is there any difference between the Chinook and the UH-60 in the mission editor? IS there a way I can transport vehicles over a body of water on a map?

Chinook and UH-60 are seprate objects in the mission editor. You can't afaik transport objects (but perhaps the xbox Elite mod scnene will have a solution, and perhaps transferred pc missions ARE capable)
