  • megasurvivor12- God is always accepting, you have to accept him and ask him into your heart... it may not come all at once, but trust yourself and trust God... as someone once told me, let God be your vent, your therapist, your hug at the times you need him the most. I know its hard to trust something/someone intangible, but it has brought me a peace I have never before known. Good luck and Bless anyone who reads this.

  • I Go Back kenny

  • I'm sorry, this is a great song, But his voice kinda ruins it. It sounds horrible. Sorta like a guitar with tremlo turned on and a three year old beating it.

  • 3 people obviously need Jesus! Lets all pray for them!!

  • Someone can dislike this song?

  • Doesn't sound as good as Alan Jackson...but it's ok!

  • I do not like all these new "praise songs " they have no melody and passion like these old hymn's. God Bless Brad for doing these songs.

  • reminds me of a time when the church burnt down but the iron cross stood in its place... not touched by fire or whatever....... Lord I love you but with you only I can show the bitterness of my heart...... when will hold me back into your arms ?

  • i buried my Dad recently and his favorite song was The Old Rugged Cross by Merle Haggard,, Merle does an AWESOME job of this song ,, but i cannot find it on you tube

  • My eyes are open, I can see it blow in the wind, with my eyes closed and not physical, I feel it beating across my skin, means the realist thing is the unseen, you want 2 “CLICK MY NAME” 2 know what I mean, it is no secret for I HAVE FOUND IT!

  • I'm glad to hear the acoustic of guitar and a guy who can sing so well with this the song being gospel. With the song being song so great it introduces me to more listening of gospel music. The song is so pretty it's hard not to be influence in a positive way. Thank you CUSCCman07 for a pretty video to watch with this..

  • Thank you God for shedding your precious blood on calvary for a old sinner like me ;) God is the only God and will always be the only God ;) Thank you Lord for saving my soul!!!!

  • I absolutely LOVE this. It reminds me of my great gramma, a rendition was played at her funeral. It makes me want to be a better person and a better mommy. I love Brad Paisley and this song just takes him to another level in my mind. I just bought a guitar & I would really like to learn to play this song for my young children. Deerlanemoose, I am so sorry for your loss, She is watching over you and I will pray for you.

  • When I was a little girl, my grandmother's church in LaGrange used to sing this one a lot. Gram died this past Tuesday, and now she is with her husband and my Dad in Heaven.Tonight I am listening, and remembering, and hoping that she is thinking of me.

  • YES YES YES YES YES!!!!!! Brad Paisley you rock!!!

  • Brad Paisley is a great singer! I wish he would sing like this a whole lot more!

  • The song remind us that everything we have is just loaned to us. It has to be left behind us for someone else.

  • Are these pics from Happy Camp, CA?

  • The Ten Commandments (1923)

  • i cant wait to meet my father in heaven.

it was sung at his Funeral Service today <3

    RIP Pawpaw Jerry <3

  • Great song and message. Thanks for sharing.

  • Beautiful scene and very well sung by Brad. May God keep every singer praising him under his arms. Noone gave anything extra to God to be what he is with all the Talents possessed. Noone is forced to believe but I can't say differently because God is giving me breath and Heart Beat. God Bless All.

  • all time great nobody does itany better than BRAD thanks alot

  • This song was played at my grandmothers funeral last month, she always sang this to me when i was a child. Miss her every day. 1927-2010 :(

  • we had this song at my dads funeral

  • My Dad used to sing this on his radio show in the late 50s. It brings tears to my eyes and a lump to my throat. My dad had a littly band "Billy Hammett and the Jolly Juniors" He died at age 42 and "exchanged his cross for a crown" Loved by his fans and family. Brad does such a great job on this song..Thanks

  • This, is the best country rendition of this song.

    Thanks for posting.

  • Sorry I haven't been on here in a while. Thank you for all the wonderful comments, I'm glad you all enjoy it. As for those wondering where the pictures were taken, this was Boulder Falls outside Boulder, CO.

  • In college there are so many temptations. So many things that i can go do at any given time. I'm thankful that i have kept my faith and allowed it to blossom while here. Hearing this song really lets me know what our Christ did for us on the rugged cross. keep the faith and always trust in the Lord. Praise GOD!!

  • My daughter Melissa was given 1 hr to live at Columbia Presbyterian Hosp Bx NY. Both her lungs were unable to stop bleeding. Drs said that not even a lung transplant would save her. I remember how in the supernatural God used Moses to part the red sea.So I prayed God in the supernatural power you gave Moses I ask you to close my daughter's lungs like you did to the red sea.. Drs call it miraculous. I say b/c I dared to believe I received.Drs encourage me to write a bk.

  • Now you have the right idea. Believing and calling on God to do what he has already done in the past, but here in the present. I to have witnessed Gods awesome power, not as dramatic as yours: but in my own ways and needs. I truly believe God smiles on us when we can use and learn from the days of Jesus here on Earth. Nothing has changed with Him. And never will. If you ever forget or get lost, just look back at this situation and it will bring you back to Him.

  • @defkon100 U cannot imagine how many stories in the bible were used in spiritual warfare when she was in the ICU for 2 1/2 months. He is the same yesterday, today and ever. Amen, u are blessed with insight. I am writing everything for my book. Even the ppl that God used are also writing their testimonies. U really understand awesome.

  • Yeah it's crazy, but God is more than a genie in a bottle. What I learned recently is to pray and ask for WISDOM, because it goes a million miles further than intelligence alone. One of the coolest things I have experienced time and again is when God pulls you through something, you KNOW for sure it was Him. It may seem like your best friend /family helped on a situation and did some to some degree, but God uses average people to phenomenal things.

  • @defkon100 Amen!

  • Religion os no foolish. How can you call a a song beautiful if you don't believe in the basis of it?

  • Thanks for the cross. thank you Jesus for suffering for me.

Have a heavy cross and can't bear it. See willann54 channel Miracle Prayer.

  • *The Christmas Shoes*

  • In that old rugged cross, stained with blood so divine, a wondrous beauty I see, for 'twas on that old cross Jesus suffered and died, to pardon and sanctify me.

Refrain: So I'll cherish the old rugged cross, till my trophies at last I lay down; I will cling to the old rugged cross, and exchange it some day for a crown.

  • Why didn't he sing the two stanzas in the middle:

O that old rugged cross, so despised by the world, has a wondrous attraction for me; for the dear Lamb of God left his glory above to bear it to dark Calvary.

Refrain: So I'll cherish the old rugged cross, till my trophies at last I lay down; I will cling to the old rugged cross, and exchange it some day for a crown.

  • some people that are in jail are not bad people they just made mistakes and so they just need to cherish the rugged cross that a way they can make it to heaven

  • Bravo Mr Paisley. Well done. Thank you for glorifying God with the talent He gave you.

  • To fellow belivers out there, plz pray for me im 16 years old and i want to be a missionary in the middle east when im older. plz pray that i never loose my heart for missions and keep goin forward for the Lord no matter what.

  • I am not religious but I love this song.. its beautiful and it brings back fond memories of my great grandmother. I miss her. =(

  • I believe this the greatest performance of any gospel song

  • For the dear Lamb of God, left His glory above, to bear it to dark Calvary... How touching!

    Brenda and Robin

  • i love this song

  • To my grand father JK Gapper ~ RIP we miss you!

  • To my Grandma Alnetta, I miss you!!

  • I am a child of Christ, I believe in the Son, Father and Holy Ghost. I am proud to say I am a christian, I am not perfect and I know I can ask forgivness and get it. I know that HE was nailed to the Cross and DIED for me. And he was IS the only one true PERFECT ONE.!

  • @littlegirl1963 i agree. i grew up on the word of christ, and the lovelyness of this song!

  • @littlegirl1963 that is the truest thing ive ever heard.......most people will hide their religion because their afraid but i kno i wont no matter what happens i would die for my lord and savior

  • @littlegirl1963 I'm a child of Christ too & I love that I can say that & that I can call him my father!! Listening to this song makes me melt. Remembering when I would go to the nursing homes & this being one of their favorite songs for have us sing. Those were the good days!! I love

  • @littlegirl1963 Hey, I was born in 1963 lol anyway very glad to hear you profess your faith but be very very careful with that pride thing it is ver bad and will cause you much grief Praying for your continued faith

  • @littlegirl1963 Amen!

  • stop arguing about the foolishness of religion and just listen to the beauty of the song

  • @koolchipper18 I'll not respond to you in a religious manner,I'll only ask why are you listening?Take thine own countenance on your religious beliefs.Listen to the message,if you don't agree then say so.Hope you can sing Auld Rugged Cross without thinking of the suffering of Jesus.

  • @koolchipper18 Actually religion is not foolish because believing in Jesus Christ and knowing he is the one and only way determines whether you live forever with Jesus Christ in a wonderful place or you suffer in a horrible place.

  • @koolchipper18 that's not what it's about. What's more important, a song that ppl forget about soon enough or your eternal salvation or damnation? religion is much more important

  • o you belive in God? I know most of you out there would say that it's none of my business. Well I can help you become a follower of christ. You have to Admit your a sinner, belive he died for you and washes away your sins so that we did'nt have to go to hee and confess

  • ppl who really are christians would pray for these other ppl and not run there mouths.. ill pray for u all lol its only one persons job to pass judgement and im pretty sure he doesnt have a youtube account

  • We are SAINTS, called so 57 x in NT. We sin, but aren't sinners by nature any more. In addition to our old selves dying with Christ, our new selves were raised up with Him to new life. We lay down our search for any identity outside of Christ, any hunger for idols (money, sex, popularity, etc). The true symbol of Christianity isn't the cross--lotsa guys died on those--but an empty tomb. Jesus was the ONLY one to accomplish that. Guess THAT image wouldn't sell too many necklaces, though!

  • TheColaGoodfellow:

I would rather live in a world of ignorance and believe in God than live in a world of intelligence and burn in hell haha just sayin buddy

  • Do you think the thought of burning in hell is funny????? You said you believed in God.. Why would you laugh at someone else's pain?

  • After i heard tis song by different Aetists so many times. tis Country Gospel you are one of the best!!

    Not easy. GOD BLESS YUO!

  • Beautiful song think about the words we all should praise him for what he has done for us..............

  • Played this at my dad's funeral. He will never be forgotten and will see him on the other side.

  • what does..."till my trophies at last I lay down" mean???...i dont understand

  • I'm not quite a scholar, but my guess is its a reference to the pride you will lay down at the feet of jesus. it could also (but in the hymns context it doesnt make as much sense) be the crowns and works in his name that he blesses us with. see what you can find on biblegateway about trophies and crowns. something im sure john, peter, or daniel had something to say about it.

  • when you croak i presume o.o

  • It means rewards (trophies) earned in this life by believers we will cast at Jesus' feet because only by Him have we been able to earn them

  • Riddle?: On the Cross why does Jesus die for only ungodly people? (Rom 3.10,23; 5.6,8)

  • because we are all ungodly! we all suck big time!! but because of gods gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ we can all be saved! Man, I love Jesus!

  • because none are righteous. no, not one. we all have screwed the first two commandments, thus everything else. we have not worshiped god, nor have we worshiped him alone. we have idols of every sort and kind, be it drugs, self, kids, wife/husband, pop culture, sexuality, causes, politics, etc. its ALL SIN and and we are from our Creator because of it.

  • Fellow ChristiansThere is a "hate crimes bill" S.909 that was devised by the Anti-Defamation League of B'nai B'rith in order to criminalize Christianity. Any Good Christian who stands up for traditional marriage or who protests the millions of babies murdered by abortion will be subject to possible fines or jail time. Check out truthtellers and watch Rev. Ted Pike's videos explaining the danger and then call your Senators toll free at 877-851-6437 and tell them NO on S.909.Save our Constitution.
