I use to own this when I was a teen. I always loved the way the bells would start with a few, then gradually add all of them (with a musical rest) before the orchestra plays the recapitulation of "God Preserve Thy People" in full force fff. Every other recording plays the bells at the beginning of this musical motive, not prior to, which is what makes this recording so unique.
Just seeing the picture on the sleeve brought back memories of buying it 1976 - and then setting up two sets of speakers through a Pioneer amp for the full Phase 4 quad effect! The mixing in of the church bells was quite bold - drowning out the band for a bit ...my little dog would sing along to the bells.
