sadly I have to disagree with you belphore79 it shows no signs of slowing down in fact death metal may be slightly less popular than it was 10 to 15 years ago. I love both genres (some good some bad from both) so im not disliking either genre.

For Old School DM fans you still have Autopsy, they released an amazing album earlier this year, Asphyx's new album is coming out soon, the new Disma, Blaspherian, Sanguis Imperem, a new Terrorizer album is also coming out soon. If you prefer the technical stuff, then you have Origin, Brain Drill, Obscura and many more. Not to mention Immolation, Cannibal Corpse, Hate Eternal, Nile ..

that's just not true. iron maiden's new album was a best selling album in something like 27 countries and death magnetic was a best selling album in over 30. disturbed has had 4 best selling albums in a row in the states and black clouds and silver lining by dream theater was #1 on the european charts and #6 in the united states. metal is FAR from the most hated genre in the world, look at the facts.

have you been listening to a word i have said? metal is VERY popular right now. deceivingly popular. the thing about metal is that the fans are often divided. some people just like the classics, some people just like the modern mainstream, some people just like the core, some people just like the underground, and some like it all. if you were to combine all the metal fans in the world they would easily outnumber most other genres.
