I Just Have One Question.. Im Not Really into Cdj's Im used with The Laptop Connected to the mixer.. I Have been planning on buying this mixer but i just wanted to ask can i connect This mixer on my computer and two turntables will it work? Do i need a sound card for it?
@DeejayScorp509 it will work fine, the mixer has its own soundcard as it isn't a midi controller, so just send ur signals to it and output to a monitor, job done. ps i used some Techniks for the 1st time last week, much better feel than CDJs
Hi, Thanks for the guide, very informative and well presented.
I currently have a Behringer DJX750 mixer and am looking to upgrade as I've heard so many negative things about it, and so many positve things about the Xone mixers (42, 92 etc.)
My question is - if I were to upgrade to a Xone 42 what difference would I see compared to my DJX750? Obviously the filters but what about sound quality and EQ etc. - just how much better is it? Is it worth upgrading for? Thanks for any advice on this.
I should also mention I'm into uplifting trance and some proggier trance... Above and Beyond / Kandi / N2O etc. so I don't really need to be using much FX....
I'm trying to get this next month, what's up with the PFL? i've seen this mixer and it seems that u have that "split" button that does this function, am i right? i just can't mix without the PFL lol
@AndreSaldias Hey man, split will allow you to compare levels between live and cued track. You have PFL functionality by default without split, it will show the pre-fade levels of the cued track, left and right channels. Awesome mixer, you'll love it.
@etch46 thx man, then i'll get it for sure :D what happened is that a couple of months ago i bought a numark m6 i think bc i was running low on cash and i needed a new one for a gig. well surprise surprise IT DIDN'T HAVE PFL! or anything like it , wtf! 2 days later i returned it, after i peed on it lol
@ELXCUSE serato and traktor works with every mixer ;).... you just need 2x Line In.... and the Serato Scratch Live Soundcard + Software..... or Traktor with Soundcard + Software ;) .. greetz. (I'm using Traktor Scratch Pro with my Allen&Heath Xone 22.... but I will change to the Xone 42 soon)
@fattirevsbud That'll do, with headphones. I don't use a pc myself, I like the CDJs, but having controllers and a laptop is very common, it's easier to travel around with your gear

Message me if you are interested and I will link you the details, or add us on facebook (/absolutemusicuk) and get the link off there.
My Tascam X9 mixer broke recently and it couldn't be fixed! I was so gutted! Always a fan of the Allen & Heaths though when I use them in clubs
Do you have an opinion on this mixer vs the xone 62? I like the fx loop of the 42 and the meters/faders, very cool - but the 62 has the 4-band eq...hard to decide which to go for...Great tutorial.
I was in 2 minds of whether to buy the DJM800 or the Allen & Heath Xone 42. The DJM800 was the industry standard, has built in effects and allows harmonic mixing. I knew some day I'd be getting onto using effects and performing harmonic mixes. However, when I looked into the cost difference between the 2 mixers, I really started to think about it in detail. Was it really worth all the extra money to get the DJM?
I decided in the end it wasn't, because Allen & Heath is known to be of better sound quality and I can plug an FX unit into the Xone 42 or even use PC software to do the same thing. As far as harmonic mixing goes, I can create my tunes in the correct keys from the start so if I were to mix in a public place, I shouldn't need to rely on the mixer having certain features for me to perform the kind of mix I want to perform.
@buzbee1991@ObrahmUH forsho, yeah ill send you an invoice and ship it over right away, ill send you a number you can text through a youtube message also
@PargasianDude@PargasianDude Yo. I sold my FX5000 to have the Xone. The last one is much better. Sure, there are less effects. BUT, audio quality is simply amazing (I use KRK RP8 as return monitors, 2 MACKIE 450 with official subwoofer and RPDJ 1210 by Technics for headphones). Dunno if it happened with your FX5000, but at the end of the crossfader run, you could hear a "krrrr"... That's why I've never use that. I bought a KORG KP3 to have more effects.
Thanks, I will be creating another video soon within the next few days. You can find a written version of each video on the website (with images) which may help out further.
hi. this isnt a midi controller. the usb is for a) send the audio into the pc to playback or record, b) use the pc as an effects unit and c) to send audio from the pc to the mixer as another channel input. thanks.
not through the usb interface. if you had a soundcard on the pc with different channel outputs and you were able to play different tracks on these different outputs, then you could simply attach the channel output to the line in on a mixer's channel with RCA cables. i actually have one of my channel's on the mixer being hooked onto line out on the pc as an alternative to using the usb interface. hope that helps. merry xmas.

thanks for the advice man. at the moment i'm starting out practising in my bedroom so am happy with the sound quality for now. i will also get a balanced XLR cable at some point too.
@djglobeone monster is overpriced garbage, reminds me of BOSE. It's not at all a waste of equipment. No one has been able to prove that cables make any difference at all. Going from RCA to XLR is of course a step in the right direction, but buying a expensive XLR instead of a cheap one IMO is exactly what you call a wate of money. Atleast whent it comes to digital cables, thats just silly
prove it. and btw, hiss and distortion can never be completely eliminated. The only thing that matters is what kind of plug you use, not if its gold, 99.9999999999 silver or copper. And cables make absoloutly no difference on a DJ setup. THeyre for audiophiles, mixers all have shitty opamps, even the high end one, so then whats the point. Youll need a sick multi grand setup to hear a difference at all. What you experience is placebo, and your older cables are prolly faulty.
Monster Cables are a waste of money as are any other manufacture's that claim their cables improve sound and cut out noise. Having properly sheilded cabling and good solder joints is what makes a good cable. I make my own custom cables for my mics, speakers and RCA's at a fraction o the cost of a BS monster cable and they perform and sound just as good.

etch46 2 years ago
hi there, nice and plain review.
and how about the USB connection in the mixer? what is the purpose?
digitalfactor72 2 years ago
excellent question, never looked into that before. it's a way to:
a) send audio to the pc - so an alternative to the booth output that i've got set up
b) receive audio from the pc - an alternative to the channel connection i've set up (see vid 'Mixing guide 1')
c) use pc software to deliver digital effects to send to the FX unit
i'l have to look more into c) as i do want to get an effects unit at some point, this could be a good alternative.
etch46 2 years ago
@etch46 yep please FX via computer may be cool, it could be good if you post a video showing up the feature!
digitalfactor72 2 years ago
@etch46 So it is essentially a soundcard as well? Does it come with drivers? I had a mackie D4 pro, and it was the center piece of my entire studio, and sadly, it burnt in a housefire, and they no longer make it... so im kinda looking for something along the line of this to replace it.
