  • are light rings loose?

  • I Just Have One Question.. Im Not Really into Cdj's Im used with The Laptop Connected to the mixer.. I Have been planning on buying this mixer but i just wanted to ask can i connect This mixer on my computer and two turntables will it work? Do i need a sound card for it?

  • @DeejayScorp509 it will work fine, the mixer has its own soundcard as it isn't a midi controller, so just send ur signals to it and output to a monitor, job done. ps i used some Techniks for the 1st time last week, much better feel than CDJs

  • what's better a djm 800 or a xone 62?

  • @smurkej

I should also mention I'm into uplifting trance and some proggier trance... Above and Beyond / Kandi / N2O etc. so I don't really need to be using much FX....

    Cheers mate

  • haha nice, just started watchin this and noticed you're into uplifting trance , that's such a beautiful track :)

  • @smurkej yeah man, the whiteroom, awesome track :)

  • merci beaucoup ....

  • haha he said "yeah man" feeling the music, great video,

  • @senaYynnaD Respect :)

  • Yeah man! Haha good video, well enjoyed.

  • Whats this Pioneer model name?

  • @Mossezorro they'rethe CDJ1000 MK3

  • @etch46 ty ;)

  • Is the crossfader good for scratching?

  • @RickieRozay I dont scratch myself but the xfader is as good as any, nothing in the way so fine for scratching

  • thx man..great clip..hehe

  • I'm trying to get this next month, what's up with the PFL? i've seen this mixer and it seems that u have that "split" button that does this function, am i right? i just can't mix without the PFL lol

  • @AndreSaldias Hey man, split will allow you to compare levels between live and cued track. You have PFL functionality by default without split, it will show the pre-fade levels of the cued track, left and right channels. Awesome mixer, you'll love it.

  • @etch46 thx man, then i'll get it for sure :D what happened is that a couple of months ago i bought a numark m6 i think bc i was running low on cash and i needed a new one for a gig. well surprise surprise IT DIDN'T HAVE PFL! or anything like it , wtf! 2 days later i returned it, after i peed on it lol

  • BY any chance do you if that mixer runs with Serato Scratchh ?

  • @ELXCUSE Sorry dude, no idea

  • @ELXCUSE Yeah it does!! =)

  • @ELXCUSE serato and traktor works with every mixer ;).... you just need 2x Line In.... and the Serato Scratch Live Soundcard + Software..... or Traktor with Soundcard + Software ;) .. greetz. (I'm using Traktor Scratch Pro with my Allen&Heath Xone 22.... but I will change to the Xone 42 soon)

  • Do you think Xone 42 + Technics SL1210 MK2 would be a good combination? (used with Traktor Scratch Duo)

  • @Papadapio it should be fine, although haven't used traktor scratch myself

  • really good review mate!! ... seriously considering going for the Xone 42 as opposed to the DJM 700 now!!

  • @standubz glad you enjoyed mate, yeah man Allen & Heath know how to produce them

  • Im thinkin about starting what do I need/ a mixer, speakers I guess and what else? a laptop?

  • @fattirevsbud That'll do, with headphones. I don't use a pc myself, I like the CDJs, but having controllers and a laptop is very common, it's easier to travel around with your gear

  • Hey there! Good little video! I'm not sure if this would interest you, but we are currently doing a competition based on creating a video review of a music product with the chance of winning up to £150 off new gear! Message me if you are interested and I will link you the details, or add us on facebook (/absolutemusicuk) and get the link off there.

My Tascam X9 mixer broke recently and it couldn't be fixed! I was so gutted! Always a fan of the Allen & Heaths though when I use them in clubs

  • Do you have an opinion on this mixer vs the xone 62? I like the fx loop of the 42 and the meters/faders, very cool - but the 62 has the 4-band eq...hard to decide which to go for...Great tutorial.

  • @wesarnold1 I prefer the faders on the 42, plus better effects routing. If I bought another A&H now, I'd go for the 92.

  • is it possible to buy a faceplate for this mixer ?

  • @djraff88 Not seen one myself but I'd guess you can get a custom one

  • great vid mate, i suppose yo have used the pioneer djm 800, which do you honestly think is better.

  • I was in 2 minds of whether to buy the DJM800 or the Allen & Heath Xone 42. The DJM800 was the industry standard, has built in effects and allows harmonic mixing. I knew some day I'd be getting onto using effects and performing harmonic mixes. However, when I looked into the cost difference between the 2 mixers, I really started to think about it in detail. Was it really worth all the extra money to get the DJM?

  • I decided in the end it wasn't, because Allen & Heath is known to be of better sound quality and I can plug an FX unit into the Xone 42 or even use PC software to do the same thing. As far as harmonic mixing goes, I can create my tunes in the correct keys from the start so if I were to mix in a public place, I shouldn't need to rely on the mixer having certain features for me to perform the kind of mix I want to perform.

  • @etch46 thanks for the reply, makes sense.

  • Can you use this with only Ableton Live and FL Studio, or do you need what looks like turn tables?

  • @AznMs Hey dude, not sure about that, I dont use DJ software.

  • Does someone knows where can i find an italian user's guide?

  • @kevinsl8er thats an interesting question. id try ebay, or italian ebay, or even phone up allen & heath and ask them.

  • @etch46 Thanks!

  • can i use one of these by connecting it directly to traktor?

  • @yuyo11 Hi, I haven't used Traktor myself but the mixer does have a USB interface to hook up to a PC/laptop.

  • @etch46 thanks man, and how much am i spending if i buy one of these?

  • @yuyo11 I got mine from djdeals, they currently do it for £539. Now that's cheap compared to other DJ stores.

  • @buzbee1991 ill scoop that mixer up for $500 if ur interested i have paypal, shoot me an email at deemsters at gmail if ur serious

  • @ObrahmUH forsho, yeah ill send you an invoice and ship it over right away, ill send you a number you can text through the a youtube message

  • how about your xone up faders? i heard that they are very sharp on the top...what do you think?

  • @mellamanclandestino Hey, can you elaborate on what you mean by 'sharp' just to make sure we're talking about the same thing?

  • @etch46 the fader curve...

  • @mellamanclandestino the up fader seems pretty linear to me

  • is it way more better than the Numark FX5000? I have the FX5000 and I'm really keen on buying the Xone 42 this summer. What do you think etch46?

  • @PargasianDude Hey Dude, wish I could answer that for you but I haven't used a Numark mixer.

  • @PargasianDude @PargasianDude Yo. I sold my FX5000 to have the Xone. The last one is much better. Sure, there are less effects. BUT, audio quality is simply amazing (I use KRK RP8 as return monitors, 2 MACKIE 450 with official subwoofer and RPDJ 1210 by Technics for headphones). Dunno if it happened with your FX5000, but at the end of the crossfader run, you could hear a "krrrr"... That's why I've never use that. I bought a KORG KP3 to have more effects.

  • @TheFunkySoulStory

Are the up faders on the Xone 42 (graphite) as resistant as those on the DJM800?

I just tried those on the Xone 22 and I don't like them.

  • nice rewiev man

  • Damn that mixer looks sexy!

  • Feels it too.

  • @DEKSTEDAY Got mine yesterday, I've been making love to it for the last 24 hours...

  • great mixer :)

  • Nice music.

    Names please?

  • Andy Moor / Adam White - The Whiteroom

  • exelent video, i suscript rigth now.Argentina

  • Thanks, I will be creating another video soon within the next few days. You can find a written version of each video on the website (with images) which may help out further.

  • Is this a midi controller? why does it have a usb connection?

  • hi. this isnt a midi controller. the usb is for a) send the audio into the pc to playback or record, b) use the pc as an effects unit and c) to send audio from the pc to the mixer as another channel input. thanks.

  • @etch46 can i send music from the pc to all 4 channels? thanks

  • not through the usb interface. if you had a soundcard on the pc with different channel outputs and you were able to play different tracks on these different outputs, then you could simply attach the channel output to the line in on a mixer's channel with RCA cables. i actually have one of my channel's on the mixer being hooked onto line out on the pc as an alternative to using the usb interface. hope that helps. merry xmas.

  • @etch46 merry xmas to you too.. i have the audio 2 dj that will work :) and do you know if the audio 4 dj has 4 channels or just 2?

  • for connecting to an external mixer, the audio 4dj has 2 stereo outputs like the 2dj. the 8dj has 4 stereo outputs. of course you'd want to make sure the software used is capable of handling 4 simultaneous tracks.

  • Hey! I am looking for a new 4chan mix. Is it big diffirence between xone 42/92?

Dont you miss some fx as echo, delay, when u are mixing trance?

  • Hi, I don't know about the 92 I'm afraid, hopefully somebody else can share the differences. As far as FX, there is a mechanism to attach a unit onto the mixer. It's also possible to use the PC for FX, something I haven't tried yet but will do at some point.

  • does it have midi?

  • Hi there, no it doesn't have midi.

  • hi there, nice and plain review.

and how about the USB connection in the mixer? what is the purpose?

  • excellent question, never looked into that before. it's a way to:

    a) send audio to the pc - so an alternative to the booth output that i've got set up

    b) receive audio from the pc - an alternative to the channel connection i've set up (see vid 'Mixing guide 1')

    c) use pc software to deliver digital effects to send to the FX unit

i'l have to look more into c) as i do want to get an effects unit at some point, this could be a good alternative.

  • @etch46 yep please FX via computer may be cool, it could be good if you post a video showing up the feature!

  • @etch46 So it is essentially a soundcard as well? Does it come with drivers? I had a mackie D4 pro, and it was the center piece of my entire studio, and sadly, it burnt in a housefire, and they no longer make it... so im kinda looking for something along the line of this to replace it.

    Thanks :)

  • @djsike1 This one doesn't have a usb soundcard. The Xone 3D and 4D do (and they're also midi controllers). Sorry to hear about the housefire dude.

  • Then again, maybe i didn't answer correctly. It does have a USB port on it and you can hook that into a PC and record sound. Not sure if that means it's using the PCs soundcard or its own.

  • pioneer < allen & heat

  • don't start...

  • man , please update your cables , dont use the normal rca s . spend some money on pro cables , its a waste of echuipment . try monster or any audiophile brand . enjoy the gear :)

  • thanks for the advice man. at the moment i'm starting out practising in my bedroom so am happy with the sound quality for now. i will also get a balanced XLR cable at some point too.

  • @djglobeone monster is overpriced garbage, reminds me of BOSE. It's not at all a waste of equipment. No one has been able to prove that cables make any difference at all. Going from RCA to XLR is of course a step in the right direction, but buying a expensive XLR instead of a cheap one IMO is exactly what you call a wate of money. Atleast whent it comes to digital cables, thats just silly

  • i think different , a special audio cable like quality rca or quality klr ,has better wiring it eliminates any hiss or distortion

  • prove it. and btw, hiss and distortion can never be completely eliminated. The only thing that matters is what kind of plug you use, not if its gold, 99.9999999999 silver or copper. And cables make absoloutly no difference on a DJ setup. THeyre for audiophiles, mixers all have shitty opamps, even the high end one, so then whats the point. Youll need a sick multi grand setup to hear a difference at all. What you experience is placebo, and your older cables are prolly faulty.

  • @djglobeone

Monster Cables are a waste of money as are any other manufacture's that claim their cables improve sound and cut out noise. Having properly sheilded cabling and good solder joints is what makes a good cable. I make my own custom cables for my mics, speakers and RCA's at a fraction o the cost of a BS monster cable and they perform and sound just as good.

  • The xone has more-more better sound quality than djm-700. I'm shure.

  • i'm between xone 42 and djm 700....how's the xone 42 quality?

  • Hi there. The xone 42 sound quality is great, this is why i went for it as my research showed that Allen & Heath have much better sound quality than Pioneer.
