  • Mada Mada Dane

  • Great video. Sampras the best, and also Roger.

  • lol people exaggerate how much height Sampras could get. The craziest thing I have heard was that Sampras could have been an "NBA-star"! lol. Rubbish.

As cool as they look, those are not "extraordinary" jumping ability. There is no way he got anything over 24-28 inches.

  • This video is fantastic. I could watch this shit all day

  • badminton xD

  • Pete Sampras is the Greatest Tennis player ever!!! He beat the best opponents and best era of Tennis!!

  • Pete Sampras is still the best. Yeah, I said it.

  • Pete was a fantastic athlete and he executed this shot brilliantly. Roger can pull it off to, but not to quite the same effect. Neither of them, however, has the leaping ability of Monfils, and his overheads are the most spectacular of all. There is a YouTube video featuring a 360 degree over head by Monfils. It's just awesome.

  • note to self: never lob sampras

  • I thought that second slam dunk of Roger was right up there... I know that it's obviously not his signature shot but he can do it like Pete if he wants to :)

  • lol sorry pete, roger is the best

  • "Sorry Roger... Pete is still the best?" I dont recall pete's inbetween the legs winner, or his round the post winner, or his backhand flick, or his 16 grand slam titles, or his 6 atp world tour finals, or his 70 titles in 100 finals.... "pete is still the best"... dont make roger laugh!

(I know you mean pete is better at slam dunk smashes, but i just had to say something about that obnoxious line)

  • @MoolahMogul1 And I don't recall ANY of those things having to do with "slam dunks".

(I know you really were just being a douchebag, but I had to say something about your obnoxious post)

PS, this isn't Pete vs Fed sounding board, it's a video about slam dunks. If you have an opinion to express regarding my video, feel free to do so. If you want to say that Fed has a bigger dick than Sampras, then make your own video about that because that's now what this was about. Good day!

  • @wesmartin91 Bro, don't be upsed. Many Fed fans are just trolls. He's talking about Sampras as if he didn't achieve anything in his career, but let's not forget that he's still and will probably hold the record for the most weeks at the number 1# place and let's not forget that he won the most important title 7 times, I mean Wimbledon of course. Pete Sampras was a great player, no doubt! One of the best ever!

  • @MoolahMogul1 hes talking about the smashes hun not the overall skill

  • @MoolahMogul1

Just for the record and to point out your ignorance, it said "Pete's is still the best," definitely implying the Slam Dunks.

  • Berdych just attempted a slam-dunk against Djokovic at the WTF. What a fail that was.

  • @flavourfulferret Yeah, I'm watching that now, lol.

  • stupid commentators

  • where the fuck did the ball go?

  • Plus sampras missed a dunk in that match against federer that lost him the set. (I'm not hating on pete - he's my favorite player - just saying...)

  • The master santoro outfoxed him tho...

  • sampras should be sponsored by dunkin dounuts :D

  • It must be demoralizing on Pete's opponents when he slammed on them. Along with Roger's closed forehand, Pete's serve and slam dunk are my favorite all-time shots.

  • who says white can´t jump?

  • federer and sampras are both greatest tennis player of all time!

but in terms of art and wins i'll go to roger federer....!

no one can beat his art of movement in the court very nice to see his style of playing than anyone else! tamaaaaahhhhh.........

  • LOL how many dunks on Agassi?

  • Pete's slams are just nasty. It's like a combo of Vince Carter, Michael Jordan, Dominique Wilkins, and Shawn Kemp lolz.

  • @ohcrapitsmrG dunno about that. Against a Sampras serve, a clean return isn't a given. Even if Sampras doesn't hit as hard as some players today, his serve is still probably the best ever.

  • @ohcrapitsmrG That's because today's people don't have to face Pete :)

  • After all that and you miss the one where he broke his strings.

  • @ohcrapitsmrG Effectiveness doesn't even matter. A forced defensive lob followed by a smash ends the point. The dunk is just for jokes and giggles.

  • he missed a moonvolley

  • why does he say 360 at 1:36 ?

  • @exstazyunior Because sampras spins out after his jump smash. McEnroe says 360, but if you watch its actually only a 180, lol.

  • @wesmartin91 if you ask me then its not even a 180 cause he starts spinning when he landed

  • @exstazyunior LOL I guess he meant 180.

  • @wesmartin91 watch djokovic vs nadal us open final and tell me agassi was a better returner than djokovic

  • @pjlballplayer10 Saw that one and was surprised abput Rafa's performance... Anybody know why he was in such a slump?

  • @pjlballplayer10 I did watch it, LIVE on Ashe stadium. I was there. And YES, Agassi remains the greatest returner of all time. Watch my video "Agassi signature shots" if you remain in doubt. Today, the two top returners of serve are Djokovic and Murray, and they are arguable more consistent in getting returns in play than Agassi was. But nobody used their return as a weapon as consistently as Agassi did. Nobody returned 130 mph first serves for winners as often as Agassi.

  • @wesmartin91 Haha, nice man. You just owned that guy! hahahaha

  • @wesmartin91 The reason why there is no more slam dunking is because serve and volleying is dead. The key to the slam dunk is overwhelming your opponent with a precise serve, and catching im off guard with a high smash. Today, the lobs are deeper, and slice overheads are more effective, and more consistent.

  • 1:36 wait what the hell?

  • @wesmartin91 i think it was the combination together with sampras' sick serve. today's players who serve strong tend to be kind of unathletic (including roddick), in contrast to sampras. it's ok to return a high ball to a good serve if the player maybe gives you a normal volley or a slice. sampras took like a split-second to be on the net and 2 feet in the air to smash it right in to your face. i'm still pretty sure players like federer or nadal could read his serve pretty well though.

  • Pete Sampras must be really amazing, he even had his name mentioned in an anime.

  • He really looks like Momoshiro Takeshi, a Prince of Tennis(Teni-Puri) character that specializes in smashes. This really looks like his "Dunk Smash".

  • The greatest dunker ever!

  • @ohcrapitsmrG would you say agassi was a bad returner? He was one of the best! So thats crap, Sampras genius! Great video!

  • its very risky shot

  • @wesmartin91 Roddick has a serve fast as sampras (given sampras could have more movement). Top 4 guys can control his serve so it isn't a weapon. The returner also don't pop the ball up so the slam dunk couldn't happen.

  • Did Sampras write a book on how to hit that shot? I think it would be a best-seller by now.

  • He is simply a Legend! He is the BEST!

  • MOMOSHIRO TAKESHI

  • tennis videos with music must be banned

  • We used to end every practice by practicing "Sampras Overheads"

My favorite player of all time.

  • god he gets at least 2feet with those "hops" of his, sure i can jump the net easily but not while smashing! SAMPRAS FTW! love the dude fav player XD

  • what does the man @ 1:35 is trying to grab?? :S

  • @SL9SH

he's just being a faggot american

  • always loved Sampras, dont know what all the fuss was about Agassi , Sampras forever!!!

  • sicckkkkkkk!

  • Which pixel is the ball?

  • @Chivers000 Just watch Pete's racquet. Enough said LOL

  • This is the also the new Nathan SHOT>

  • Comment removed

  • biensure que federer peut faire sa

  • @kinsmon123 NOBODY CARES!

  • there is one big Federer slam dunk missing: US Open 2007 all dressed in black.

But still Pete is the best in dunking (after Jordan...) I miss him in the circuit.

    Greetings from Berlin, Fedfan ULi

  • Well! at least Federer tries...

  • and some people say sampras is boring there's no one how can do it this high and always perfect

  • federer ?????? ...not even close ... SAMPRAS IS A COMBINATION OF JUMP AND POWER ... no body can do it that way so far

  • @manuellopez1982 That's because courts were faster which meant Sampras could serve faster and also not face too much of a passing threat as opponents would get less time. Not these days though. Passing has become routine due to slowness of courts. Wimby is almost clay and the US Open this year were the slowest. Don't even talk about the AO courts.

  • Momoshiri dunk smash! :)

  • federer disliked it

  • 1:22 is my favorite sampras and crowd reaction

  • Classic

  • Style of the old players.

  • fantastic... such a shame he seems to be the forgotten man in the UK commentary team.. they always talk of greats like Borg, Agassi, Edberg, Federer etc but fail to mention Sampras!! The only one who gives him a mention is Mcenroe... way to go macca!

  • He could have been an awesome volleyball player.

  • @MrBen51309 not tall enough to be a professional volleyball player i think

  • @MrBen51309 even the female volleyball players average taller than 6'1, i think?

  • @gabe228

Is he only 6'1? Wow, I thought he was taller. Keep in mind volleyball isn't about height but how high you can reach when you jump. And yes, taller players can generally reach a lot higher, but I've seen players under 6 foot with big leaps that have represented their country.

  • @MrBen51309 jumping high as high as taller people is great, but still inefficient in volleyball, why choose a 6'1 male when they can get a 6'6 male who has faster recovery with smaller jump. a 6'1 guy would probaly be the retreiver pose, not the smasher.

  • yeahhhhhhhh

  • looks like badminton haha

  • pete's got more power, federer's "slam dunks" have more grace

  • sorry but Federer's slam vs Haas was the best for me

  • haha you forgot to show the dunk that Pete missed into the net against Rog in their Wimbledon match.

And yes, Rog can hit the shot as well.

  • he hits it so fast i can't see the ball!

  • DUNK SMASH!

  • Comment removed

  • Sampras is best only in your mind.

  • Ha Ha, Federer can't slam like this!!

  • @mssheltn1 he doesnt have to;)

  • @mssheltn1 no but he can return it ^^

  • @mssheltn1 16>14 ;-)

  • @69eatmypoo LOL And 16-14=+2 (including French)

  • @mssheltn1 Sampras doesn't have 16 slams like Federer.

  • @XSteelradar2 So what, many would argue that the level of competition was tougher during Sampras's career than Federer's career. In addition, Federer hasn't been winning anything lately, LOL.

  • @mssheltn1 Pretty sure I'd take 16 grand slams over a smash like that. Sorry LOL

  • @XSteelradar2 You totally ignored my last comment about the level of competition during Sampras's career versus Federer's career. Both are all time great players; furthermore, Sampras has 14 GS so he is not a slouch!

  • @mssheltn1 Your point? Going by your previous comment, many would also argue that the competition is just as tough. The only things that have really changed significantly are the players and how they adapt to different strategies. Perhaps Federer is more adept at employing more tactics and is just a better all-court player than most people are. And I never said Sampras was a slouch. I just said I'd prefer slams over a smash like his.

  • @XSteelradar2 Federer hasn't been winning lately. You prefer Federer, I prefer Sampras. So why are you getting so defensive?? I haven't said anything negative about Federer so what's your problem?

  • @mssheltn1 Nothing's my problem. I'm just explaining why I prefer Federer. I wasn't the one who got annoyed by pointing out one of my arguments was overlooked.

  • @XSteelradar2 I didn't overlook anything, I was just giving Sampras some props. Why is it that when anybody tries to give other players praise, Federer fans always have something slight to say about that player??

  • @mssheltn1

of course yes ^^ yet yesterday on the MP against mannarino

  • @mssheltn1 atleast he dunked the most slams ;-)

  • @1978utreg So what! Federer has 2 more slams than Sampras- SO WHAT!

  • @mssheltn1 Read before you make a comment ;-)

  • @mssheltn1 Chill man! Plus Sampras has no French Open.

  • @qzpmwxonqzpm After you. Props to Sampras.

  • @mssheltn1 he does several times

  • finally a compilation without stupid music! thanks!

  • never forget 3:35
