  • And I wondered if Carrie's hand grabbing Sue's arm was her last scare towards her.

  • This scene breaks my heart because Sue (Amy Irving) is scarred for life from so much trauma from the prom and her regret in treating Carrie (Sissy Spacek) so cruelly. It's people like bullies, like Sue, who realize the error of their ways, want to change and want to make up for their actions. I just don't understand why they didn't stick to the original story ending; don't get me wrong, this ending is good but I wonder why they changed it.

  • This ending freaked me out like crazy when i was so little and im now 20 and still cant watch this scene with the volume on

  • @dboytesoro I too used to be afraid to watch something with the volume on. Here's a trick that might help you face this fear - lower the volume and then slowly increase the volume until you feel comfortable listening to the sound. I did this when I got scared but have overcome the fear. I know you can too. Try it and see what happens. I hope it helps you.

  • Makes me scream like a little girl.

  • I wasted three minutes and seven seconds of my life expecting a different ending.

  • @azzonie Don't waste your life that way. ;)

  • They shoulda got the woman who played Nurse Ratched to be her mum :}

  • @crazytosh1 that was the actress's real-life mother who also happened to be an actress her self.

  • My boyfriend and I were making out in the car at the drive-in during this movie. (they had drive-ins in 1977) Boy did this scene interrupt us!

  • one of the best horror film endings ever

  • the disco hair styles are distracting

  • I'm pausing this every 2 seconds because this part still gets me. i'm 18 and first saw this when i was 7 or 8 and couldn't finish watching this because i was crying. since then i still haven't been able to watch this scene without closing my eyes. haha. one of the best horror films i've ever seen.

  • i remember nearly tearing up at this bit but i shat ma self when the hand came out hahahaa

  • 'Carrie White burns in Hell'! Okay, so she is tormented by a bunch of evil arseholes and her crazy mother and she's to blame? I'm sorry; who wouldn't have done what she did if they were treated like that and had that ability?

  • @hole1991 I know, it the subject of how stupid and fucked up some kids could be that made it all the more tragic for me. Here she is, this girl who is different cuz her mohter is a religious nut and she just wants to fit in with with her peers. Then they treat her like it's her fault. KInda like Rambo in the novel of FIrst Blood. Rambo goes to Nam, gets fucked up and discarded by his government and people, then he loses it and goes on a killing spree and it's RAmbo's fault. I strongly recconmend

  • Its the scream that does it for me. If there were no scream, Id laugh my head off :D

  • I remember seeing this on TV a loooooong time ago, not knowing what it was apart of...and screaming my head off. Didn't watch TV for a few days afterwards. @_@

  • @MsAnnoyingComment Same here, saw this ending out of context and was like, "Wait, what?" Lol

  • there was no need to put "original" in the title, I think people could tell it was the first film with 1976 in the title. "original" makes it look like its an alternate ending

  • @Lauri3ann3 Sorry I just figured I would put original because technically it is the ORIGINAL ENDING to the movie lol. Sorry

  • This was too funny when I watched it

  • yeah and you had to post your fucking Horrori sishHAlwoowe website title OVER the fucking clip you fucking cocksucker. Fuck you.

  • Seriously what the hell, it's predictable, in slow motion, and cliche yet it still gets me every freakin time!!

  • That HorrisHalloween shit gets in the way of the shot!

  • @mwiafe Sorry about that I uploaded this vid just when I started vidding and I didn't realize it would be a problem. sorry

  • It's funny how the doctor said that she was young enough that she would forget it in time. She's 16 and I remember things from when I was 3 lol.

  • I was 12 when I saw this. Traumatized the hell outta me.

  • Holy Crap! And it's so obvious too. Scared the shit outta me.

  • luv this movie...

  • I just shat my pants. ;,-(

  • It's funny how all the terror went down at the prom, an event well known for being remembered by those involved, yet the nurse mentions the doctor telling her she is young and will forget about it over time.

  • @imnotabotrlyimnot

Oops, I guess that's not a nurse is it.

Am I the only person who doesn't have an edit function? or doesn't anyone?

  • I love this part of the movie!!

  • I've only ever seen this ending - didn't know there was another one

  • @MDFMKisKMFDM That's exactly what I was going to say. Anytime I've ever seen this movie, this was how it ended. I wish the poster explained what he was talking about. I guess technically he's right, though: it is the original ending, since they didn't change it, haha.

  • Didn't need to be in slow motion.

  • NIGHTMARISH

  • Gets me every time I watch this movie...

  • Sue's so beautiful <3

  • lol, tht still makes me jump =O

  • I saw this in the theatre in 1977. My roomate and I both came out of our seats, and every female in the audience screamed.

  • @olentangy74 I wonder what would have happened if you all seen Saw.

  • I love Sue's dress and hairstyle right here! I wish those dresses were popular today.

  • they're all gonna laugh at u

  • i love the late 1970s style!

  • wanted to talk about her having died. In fact in The Rage: Carrie 2 she also dies. But the 2002 version of Carrie she is alive, it can be seen that this version does not die then. And I saw it falling and killing her mother's house ...

  • I had to mute this video when she got closer and closer to Carrie's grave.

  • wow--sound quality is perfect

  • WHen you say ORIGINAL do you mean the original movie? Or the first ending for the original movie which was then changed

  • i,m so confused because in carrie (2002) she dosent die sue saves her and she goses somewhere else.. ..but then in carrie (1976) and carrie 2 rage they both die... but carrie 2 has no relation to carrie 1 2002 .....so CONFUSEDD!!!

  • @animegirlino1 What's confusing? The stories of both the original and the sequel are both obviously told well. The relation is that Rachel from the sequel is related to Carrie from the original. And Rachel adapted Carrie's powers through traits, I guess. Other than that, they're unrelated.

The remake of Carrie is senseless and a disgrace to horror. It's best to ignore the plot to it.

  • @xkendylkaosx they r related...same dad...so gues they father passed it on..wished they showed him r sumthing...

  • @animegirlino1 they did a remake..so i guess that how they feeled Carrie should have ended...but the remake SUCK...So dont pay much attention 2 it.....love the 1st one....

  • FUCK!?

  • wait. What's so scary?

  • @leeonard2203 the hand comes out of the grave

  • I'm suprised they didn't remake this movie yet.

  • @ShadowCrashed81 They did in 2002 it's on here just search Carrie 2002 it's not as good though

  • I remeber this when it came on late night TV when I was a kid and I ran out of the house after that scene to a neighbor's house and was to scared to go to bed. LOL.

  • The hand should've shot out of the ground.

  • wel i just crapped my pants watching that!

  • random piece of trivia: the scene where shes walking to the ruins of the house is shot in reverse. She was actually walking backwards so when they reversed it, it would look surreal

  • @ imanacer......Then I bet you'd REALLY LOVE the opening credits of the movie

    Barbarella.....LOL!

I love all the syncopated music at the end, very impressive!

  • I think the HORRORISHALLOWEEN across the bottom fourth of the screen adds so much to the film.

I especially like the way it blocks the arm of Carrie coming out of the ground. It really minimizes that nasty surprise and scare we certainly don't want to see in a horror film.

  • @imanacer seriously, did you really have to put that over the video??

  • The car at 1:02 is driving in reverse. The side that you see is the front, with the headlights and windshield. If you look closer, you can actually see the rear-view.

  • @Tundraboy05 i wonder why the car is driving n reverse. do u know?

  • @candygir87528 The scene is in reverse.

  • @candygir87528 Yeah, I remember seeing something about that in a documentary about this movie. If I remember correctly, Amy Irving (Sue) was walking backwards in that part, and they reversed the scene to give it a more dream-like effect.

  • @CharlieBladeRemus oooh. okay. cool, cool. but none of my dreams are reverse. lol :)

  • @CharlieBladeRemus You can tell by the cars in the background, moving backwards. lol

  • The sign appears to be wobbling at 2:05.

  • i know it's just a movie, but, i felt very bad 4 carrie

  • Guys, this is just a movie! Carrie White is a made up fictional character of Stephen Kings' imagination! Same as all the rest of these charcters. This is all based on make believe and not real life, so everyone whose upset, let it go and calm yourselves! Stephen King has one hell of a mind!! LOL!:)

  • ROFL At the calming music, then WHAM! Loud screaming and terrifying music.

  • theyr still dicks to carrie in her dream, cuz u can see the for sale sign instead of a cross

  • @dylanmasterguy lmao!!!

  • that just scared the shit out of me, only ever seen the film once before and that was about 13 years ago

  • Not gonna lie, I jumped about 5 feet in the air the first time I saw this when Carrie's arm came out! XD Also, amazing musical score! It adds so much to the film, and just completes the moment. It's hauntingly beautiful one moment, and then just leaves you deeply disturbed the next! All in all, amazing movie!

  • carrie burns in hell

  • The music score for this film was absolutely fantastic!

I'm betting Alfred Hitchcock and Rod Serling would've loved it!

  • I'm under my Neice's account, so please excuse the screan name. Okay, how does this "Original Ending" differ from the Original Ending. I'm not being a smartass, it just looks identical. (Unless there WAS another ending that I haven't seen.)

  • never seen the movie, but the book is amazing, but so is everything by stephen king

  • in Sue's dream, the director told her to walk backwards so he could play it in reverse to look as if she were walking fowards, but in kind of an unnatural way. Very creative.

  • The thing I love about this ending is that you're left with the impression that maybe Sue will never be the same again. It's both fascinating and disturbing, since most of us like her character.

But "Carrie 2: The Rage" sort of ruins all that with their boring version of what became of Sue.....

  • This is a famous one! It was legendary in 1976 for an amazing jump scare! Audiences everywhere went crazy with that moment. Also, the last half hour or so (from the prom on) is a MASTERWORK of directing by De Palma. A tragedy he wasn't nominated for Best Director for this! In fact, in 1976, De Palma wasn't nominated for this, and Scorsese wasn't nominated for "Taxi Driver", but they gave it to John G. Avildson, for "Rocky"!!!!

  • 2:30 IT'S A TRAP!

  • First time I saw this 10 years ago, I shit my pants. Even though I knew it was coming, I still squirted a bit this time

  • @A550RGY

Still squrted a bit - you're hilarious. When I saw this in '76 - the whole theater jumped out their seats.

  • @bgdjohnny8 LOL. Stephen King said he went to see this movie in the black section of town and knew it was going to be a hit with audiences when he watched this hand scene and the the whole theater screamed and the guy behind him shouted, "That girl ain't never goin be right!"

  • @A550RGY Go down and mark a thumbs up for that squirting comment. It's so damn funny. Needs to be in the top two, for sure.

  • the ending insane lol and the music

  • After I first saw this I was like Sue's going to need a lot of theropy.

  • I remember first seeing this. I almost crapped my pants!

  • I don't even get why they reversed the footage of her walking to the grave, it doesn't look THAT weird compared to a normal walk.

  • lol they played this in reverse the red car is going backwards

  • I remember the first time I saw the ending! I swear I about peed my pants! xD

  • I love how the two red cars are driving backwards lol!!! BIG MISTAKE ha ha!!!

  • The ending of Carrie make me jump when her hand come out of the grave

  • While this scene is classic and one of my favorites, I wish they would have shot her hand shooting up in normal speed. It's not as scary in slow-mo, y'know?

  • I don't know. Slo motion compliments the dream turning into a nighmare seqence. I am sure Brian De Palma knew what he was doing. That is the way todays horror films are not scary. Just sickening and gorey. They have 1,000 cuts in 10 seconds an super fast action. Not enought time to build suspense, like they did in Carrie (1976)

  • the lil doll at the end is so freakin scary!

  • Original ending? WTF? I thought this ALWAYS was the ending and I`ve seen this movie like a gazillion times. What other ending is there?

  • @JackHauss Ditto. I too, have seen this movie thousands of times. This is THE ending. Although, the original scripted ending was different. Carrie caused another meteor shower. Sue walks in and she just screams at her "GET OUT!!!!!"

  • I shat brix at this scene O_O

  • Carrie's Mother Margreat White if her daughter Carrie White did not say what she said she would hit her daughter with a book and i think it's wrong as well When a bucket was thrown onto Carrie White and Tommy Ross her Prom Date i am sorry every student who was involved should of been expelled from school and not deserve to graduate. Carrie White You are not burning in hell you are up in Heaven with Jesus Christ.

    - MickeySalazar

  • who ever does not agree with what i say i am sorry you feel that way i really do but that's my opinion yours might be different.

please do not leave me bad comments i only accept good comments,

    Mickeysalazar

  • Well if Carrie did go to hell it's sad but less sad than for anyone else if you think about it. They respect power down there and she's got it in spades.

I mean she's not demonkin so she can't be a king but probably a general under Amon, Belzebub or some of the other guys. ;-)

  • @mickeysalazar maybe they would've been expelled, but they all died! Carries' mother was insane and I'm sure God was good to Carrie and let her go to Heaven! But, you can relax because Carrie, her mother and Carries classmates are all fictional. They never existed! You're a good hearted person for caring about others, despite real or make believe.Good Luck to you!:)

  • This Part was the Saddest when Carrie Died.

  • I don't understand the sign

cuz who could write burn in hell if all the ppl who made fun of her are dead?

  • It's a fucking dream.

  • Watch your langauge little boy!

  • in the book 12 people escaped on prom night and carrie killed around 450 people, when she destroyed the town. the sign wasnt made by the people the were making fun of her but someone in the town. most likely someone who had a family member die.

  • Do you think Carrie was really burning in hell?

  • No.

  • this scene is because why this movie is a horror film

  • Wow, I watched the 2002 version of Carrie- waay different

  • OMG what's that song at 2:31 ????

  • Unfortunately it also sounds like one of the chase songs used in Hanna-Barbera's "The Scooby-Doo/Dynomutt Hour."

  • poor sue :(

  • they filmed this cene in reverse to give it an incredibly eerie feeling. you can tell because the cars in the backround move backwards

  • they should've made her hand go quicker. it's so unsettling how the music is all nice, and then BOOM

  • @RYNO2511 i was hoping the hand would grab her wrist so it would be harder to get out of, grabbing her arm is okay too but a wrist you could firmly grasp it

  • Is a shame, because Carrie was actually pretty in this movie, the book described her as being less....attractive.

  • Is it me or does Amy Irving look like she could be the female twin to Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder??

  • iv not sn this but my mum has and she said it was rlly scary so i dont want to watch it and i knew wht was coming but i still screamed

  • that's probably the scariest part of the whole movie

  • ive never seen this movie but i really want to , could somebody please tell me the basic plot please so i can decide to watch it or not. thankyou

  • Some geek gets all hormonal and starts a few fires.

  • it's about a girl called carrie, who has telekinetic powers, and a really religious mom. all the people at school hate her, and basically, at the school prom, some people dump pig's blood on her head, then she kill everyone at the prom using her powers. then she goes home, her mum, thinking that she's a product of the antichrist, tries to kill her, but carrie kills her mum in retaliation, then carrie is sad, and makes the house collapse, killing her. done

  • ive seen it now lol

    it a good movie

  • i think sue should have gone to the funeral

  • she died

  • @MrLegoteen33 No, it's best they just go away for a while.

  • always great to see this barefoot shot of Amy

  • When she's walking towards Carrie's grave of course, not at the end when she's screaming lol

  • Geez Amy Irving looked soooo soooo soooo beautiful in this take.....

  • scared the crap outta me. and i knew it was coming but then i started thinking about the cinemetography and then the hand caught me off guard and chills went up my spine

  • The "scary and traumatic" music for this scene (when the hand grabs her) could've been a bit better, but a great ending nonetheless.

(if only Akira Yamaoka's works had been around back then!!)

  • the ending with the hand out of the ground scare the shit out of me :|

  • This movie was better then the remake especially the ending

  • does carrie die

  • Have you ever seen this movie? Carrie did die.

  • no iv never seen it but i want to

  • @horrorishalloween i havent seen the movie

i was too scared to watch this whole video :,(

  • @DanEddyCinema no the sign saying carrie burns in hell is just a metaphor, and the fact that shes putting flowers down has nothing to do with people dying -.-

  • @saulwilliams56

lol this was before i saw the movie, i didnt wanna watch the end cuz i got scared LOL

wen i commented i neva watched the movie xD

    so CALM YO MUFFINS!
