Whether this pertains to ipod I am unsure but I do know from taking them apart " all gens " have a resistor and compacitor bank that dumps power into a discharge circuit if to little impendence is on the audiological power output.
The chances of any mass produced device has a significant chance of failing, however more of a chance at a user who has a far worse defect... if you take into accord the IQ of some one who thinks HH is acurate then you can see why some of those people have broken Ipods... No brainer, really. I have personaly myself found a ballast transformer and I am planning on running 30,000htz of square wave audio though it from the headphones output,It should be interesting to try. I will keep you informed.
The unstable nature of lithium ion has required that if a short of 2 ohms or less depending on manufacture required a controle chip to deactivate the cell down though a resisted circuit at about 2.5 volts for a checksum. It would be inpossable to short a cell unless this controler was removed. is a taser posable? Yes... A mini balast or flyback transformer could turn a high freaquency sound into a noticable shock. maybe even an arc. " it's improbable but very possible "

yes but this circuit can be defective. what if it messed up? some of the people i have talked to who tried this their ipods fried.
i mean with all the ipods and such around there is a pretty significant chance of malfunction no?
