Rock Goddess Girlschool The GTO's Poison Dollies April Lawton Exene Cervenka (X) Ruby Starr Ellen Foley Pat Benetar Doro Pesch Chrissy Hynde Just to name a few. You really know your female acts, dude. Nice job!
@MrSarahlepard Like funknroll said Janis was in the 60's The Runaway's were the first all girl teenage rock group also where at the the time Zeppelin and Sabbath was dominating in the 70s along came The Runaways in 1975 takeing everybody by suprise.
@Una756 haha thats totally cool :P i was just saying that i personally don't i fing they are much more relatable are more connecting than modern stuff generally. but then again that's just my music taste. and hey your not wrong and im not right different opinions is what makes the world interesting!! :)
arcane.bobs: Duke of Rock from XXCultradio just wanting you to know we play 59 yrs of Rock, including this song. Thanks for paying tribute. We think all Rock should be free, and videos like yours keep it that way.
"In the wake of Jimi H. & Janis Joplin, the flood of modern Rock women was unleashed..." Yeah, unleash those femme Clits - the world is a much better place!!!!
Runaways, Patty, PJ Harvey, Exene Cervenka, Bless them all. There was no finer singer than Connie Francis. Yeah, her most popular songs were lame top 40 gum, but that has everything to do with demand. This woman`s voice traveled the globe at a time where it was unheard of. She found a way to please pretty much every culture without offending. That rocks!
SO GREAT LIVE! I saw them live years ago, but had to leave after just a few songs as my driver got the jitters-the crowd WAS getting a little bit frenzied, jumping on tables in a small club...Ever hear of the LA Jets? Some nice stuff like 'I Shoot To Kill.'
@angel4everable I love joan a lot, but do you really think she could play her 16 year old self? and i think kristen stewarts an ok actress. she's better than a lot of others that were trying to get the part.
sarabethie14: I was remembering how Joan looked the first I saw her, and she's still gorgeous. But, you're right, maybe today's audience has to be introduced to her via Kristen Stewart.
Very cool. Of course I'm gonna go out on a limb and say The Runaways are the best. Maybe I'll change my mind checking out all the bands in the vid. NICE JOB!
Oh wow, do I remember these ladies music! Cherie Curry was in a movie with Jodie Foster in the late 70's but I can't recall the name... only that her character dies.
Wow, I know a lot of these bands, but you just hipped me to a bunch of names that I'm gonna file in my memory bank for future reference. Very useful when prospectin' fer new sounds. Keep up the good work!
The things you stumble on. Mama Lion with Lynn Carey. My band used to open for Lynn at the Troubadour in the 80's. And I wrote a song for a Runaways album back when I was Rachel Williams.
Saw the Runaways open for Quicksilver at Keystone Berkley in the early seventies. They got my attention big time that night! Thanks for posting the video.
70's edge not just image- playing their guitars & that is what is missing today. I remeber when I bought the LP. the GIRLS ROCK. today the music is all mastered produced boring. this is great rather see a video of them though. Joan Jett is the COOLEST person to meet, she was shy but really down to earth. she's still rocking & NEVER forgot where she came from. WHERE's LITA girl come back out. I WANT A REUNION
I saw Cherie singing recently and she's even better vocally than in '77 when I last saw the 5 piece Runaways. Joan, however, can she still do that "American Nights" scream? I wonder.
RE: the band called Fancy. I think Helen Caunt , Penthouse Pet of October 1971 was the singer that moaned on the "wild things" track, and not Anna Kavanagh.
