I think that Nicole has a great voice. However My review of this performance is mixed.I am impressed that she tackled the highest note on "land of the free" without going into falsetto as so many singers do on the national anthem. She didn't hit the note as cleanly or loudly as I would have liked but she made a good attempt. I also thought that she used to much modern r&b melisma and tried to make the song too "soulful". I prefer it sung straight on.

They weren't booing Nicole. This was the De La Hoya vs Steve Forbes fight. They were fighting in De La Hoya's backyard of Southern California so the place was filled with De La Hoya fans. Every time they showed Steve Forbes's face on the big screen the fans booed. So that's why you heard boo's during her performance. I agree she was great and the fans thought so too, you can tell by the ovation at the end.
