hey man nice sound, did any problems develop after taking the resonator off? I got an R53 stock exhaust and I wanna make it more of a deep growl and heard taking the resonator off would help with that... any advice or help from a Cooper friend will be greatly appreciated.
@thatbostonianguy Nope. No problems. The resonator is basically a second muffler. For an R53, it's more common to do a "One Ball" mod. Simply remove a muffler (and one ball/muffler is left)!
Honestly, I haven't heard a BMW that sounds bad. Removing a muffler and the resonator will probably get you the sound you're looking for, but I'd do one at a time.
@moxiemini ohh i see I see. well if you want to check out defenders of speed, I am really happy with my intake! I have videos posted on my channel of the sound if you're interested. Happy modding! :)
Thanks, man. I'm still making "decisions" about an aftermarket exhaust. I'm going to be really picky. It'll probably be another year before I get one installed.
Thanks, mang! Yeah, the turbo muffles a lot of the sound, but I'm not really going for loud. Just a nice subtle/"liveable" growl with some burbles in between gears.
This also isn't a finished product. I'm still debating on what I want to do for an exhaust (i.e., Alta, Stratmosphere, or custom), so this is just some temporary aesthetics until make a decision.
Man that sounds awesome!! Who would have thought that by simply removing a resonator the car would sound so much louder/better. By the way, do you have a blow off valve installed? I thought I detected the tell tail "Feebishhh" sound. Do you mind telling me if you did, what type, where did you get your vacuum source and where did you install it? Also, do you have a cold air intake? Thanks.... I just go a new 09 MCS and I'm ready to mod!!
Does your car have a BOV with a stock turbo ?

what intake are you running on your MINI? I have a DoS and the sound is similar!

@StigetteR56 It's an Alta. But I'm pretty sure I'm gonna ditch it for an NM or a DDM Street.

@timmoore8462 Honestly, I'm leaning toward a Stratmosphere.

That sounds pretty nice for only resonators removed.

Haha, nice man.
Sounds good but could have a bit more rasp to it for my tastes.
Blow off valve sounds tits though.
Nice stuff man.

Thanks man. It's actually the stock BOV. I have an Alta CAI. That's what's bringing out that BOV sound. Hope that helps!
