  • I've been listening to Zappa since I was 13. I like to joke that now you know what's wrong with me. But Zappa commented that it was not he that was weird. It was his fans! Quite agree, it was I that liked Zappa's humor as a 13 year old, (FYI, It was Dinah-Moe Humm) but I continue to learn things from Zappa to this day, not the least of which is musical in nature.

This particular song is —unfortunately— timeless, and gets recycled every time police riots occur. Genius!

  • Took ages for me to track this down. So old, so profound. Cracking wonderful!

  • END THE FED

  • Had this album as a kid...great..

    Just a thought...isn't this virtually a rap song ?

And they think rapping is original....

Can't beat us oldies for originality,..LOL

  • @Tyneman51 It IS like a rap song, except back then it was known as a "talking rag", and lends its origins to folk music. Another famous example is "Subterranean Homesick Blues" by Dylan. See? Rap is even older than we thought! Reggae! Pah!

  • Pure genius! Zappa was always critical of mass media. After tv news covered riots in the 1960s/1970s, the Viet Nam war, and how they "run" with negative news these days, can you blame him? Watch the movie, Network.

  • My soundtrack for today in London. :(

  • @uncleteeth Sadly so. It's not much better here in The States. A "storm" is heading our way too. I fear riots in America soon. America has been for sale since the end of the Viet Nam "war." We can thank a globalist mind-set for that. The EU is trying to ruin Britain, as well. Do not give into the EU! Heaven keep you all in the U.K.

  • as it applies to you and me, this country isn't free

  • @MrBackdoorman88 AMEN!

  • And today is the day some say is the end of the world, but in reality they're just freakin' crazy! Know that i'm no jesus freak, & the truth is that I'm a Muslim mastermind. Does that mess with your mind? I don't mind if it does or doesn't, and the reason for that you are what you is, and I've been labeled Mr. Jesus 2.3 by the "International Fellowship of Christians & Jews", & that ain't you lie, you plastic guy. Some Rabbi HOPEs for CHANGE, but he can't play those silly tricks on me. I'm free!

  • @virtuallyjesuschrist NICE RANT. I LIKED IT.

  • @plasticjesus108 And I've been a Zappa fan since I was in high school! I'm a silly old man of 52, and never tire of him still! Thanx for the compliment in your comment, I'm just a fool tellin' the truth! As you probably already know those silly Christians were all confused. We had a party today that was attended by many, and we all survived the day! I don't know about you my friend, but this Jesus thinks they're Jerks!

  • @virtuallyjesuschrist SPOT ON!

  • @virtuallyjesuschrist im 52 to ive been a zappa fanatic since i was 14

  • this song predates 24/7 global news/television. combine this with another zappa song "it can't happen here" and we arrive in 2011. zappa appointed first czech republic arts/culture minister by vaclev havel(president) after fall of soviet union.

  • R.I.P. Frank

  • @GraehmeAfzalkhan81 THE AUDIO IS THE TUNE

  • Great song. I made me fall in love with his work some 40 years ago, and I agree, it is something like rap...some really good rap, and also the finest of Zappa's lyrics, but I also love the bluesy driving rock... Just a great song and the video definitely adds to the message.

  • I've been saying for years now that trouble everyday is the first really true rap song. I'm actually thrilled to see that someone else out there has the same notion. Go hard frank!

  • @susanandkeith Sigh....

  • Fuckin AWSOME You rock frank zappa

  • One of the best songs of Psychedelic rock !!

  • @Fullurl Thanks for stopping in. Don't know who spammed you.

  • Yeah - epic!!! Zappa at his very best, but sadly this peace of music still retains its relevance to this day

  • One of his best

  • This was when Frank was at his best. Clever and hard hitting ... not just dumb comedy.

  • I think very little of what Frank did could be considered "dumb" comedy. This was my first Zappa album, and this is the most conventional song on it. It was my favorite, and still probably is on that album.

  • Even the songs that some people might classify as "dumb comedy" were backed up by incredible music. "Yellow snow", for instance.

  • @russlehman EXACTLY. No matter how silly the lyrics were. The music was beautiful. I think it's a pity that some people only see them as stupid songs that are not worth listening to.

  • Yep. I've always preferred this original version.

One interesting thing about it is that the record company signed zappa up on the basis of this song. They thought they were getting a 60s protest band. Little did they know - lol.

  • I really like this original version (from Zappa's first album "Freakout") better than the later "More trouble every day".

It's probably the best lyric Zappa ever wrote (though it has some stiff competition).

  • Yes it does

  • nice one i had this up for a year b4 the bastards took the music away,i wish u beter luck #####
