  • Thank you so much for your compassion and for making this video. I honestly could not watch past the point of the mama pit, but I love that you want to show people how hard it is to euthanize. I manage a veterinary clinic and we do NOT do convenience euthanasia...only euthanasia on the suffering...and it is still very hard.

  • Im Greece, we have many stray dogs. But Greek law opposes to euthanasize health animals. Stray dogs are neutered, vaccinated and then set free to the enviroment they were found if not adopted.

  • For every person that calls humane euthanasia murder, I challenge you to take each dog or cat or rabbit (etc.) into your home until you can find a suitable alternative. Feed that pet. Exercise that pet. Shelter that pet. Until you find a suitable alternative. Then when that suitable alternative can no longer care for that pet, take that pet back into your home until another suitable alternative can be found. Spend a day in her shoes before spewing your hate for "open door" animal shelters.

  • Just look at these angels, look at the faces of these precious animals. What kind of person works at a kill "shelter"? A monster, a killer, sadist.

  • All these animals are angels. They should not be at the mercy of the monsters in the "shelters" who want to kill them. It is the killing which perpetuates killing. That is why people don't come to adopt the animals, because no one wants to go to a slaughterhouse. Stop the killing and the public comes in droves to adopt. Stop making excuses for the killing, there is no excuse. Force the "shelters" to be true shelters instead of the slaughterhouses they are, don't enable the sadism.

  • @flower24587

What are you? A child? I love animals and it breaks my heart that this must be done, but there is no way around it. If there is no euthanasia, there is letting animals suffer inside of a kennel, and the spread of disease among other things..Are we just supposed to deny the animals that need to be taken out of the streets or from people who can't take care of them? No....that's JUST as bad as euthanasia. If it wasn't for ignorant fucks that continue to breed (c.)

  • @Sicsaem

cats and dogs and refuse to alter their animals this would not have to happen. Meanwhile, money greedy bastards continue to force-breed slave dogs until they can reproduce no longer when they are just tossed out like trash. Why do they NOT get the blame?? Or the people who want their children to experience the "miracle of birth"? Seriously, learn your facts. No one likes to do this, but there is no choice. There's not enough room for all of the millions of pets out there.

  • @Sicsaem

Of course animals should not roam the streets or not be taken care of or bred. But there are plenty of homes. The propaganda that there are not enough homes is just an excuse, the gullible are mouthpieces for the "shelter" propaganda. There are homes and there is room for all the animals to be adopted. It is the killing that perpetuates the killing. Stop the killing and the animals will be adopted. Those ARE the facts.

  • @flower24587

Even if there ARE enough homes, it does not mean people will take the initiative to adopt or care for them. As it stands now, there are millions of dogs being abused and mistreated...sad as it is to say, there is not enough room, money, or materials to board and medically care for every animal that is sent to the shelter. I never said I agree with euthanasia, I hate it, and it IS wrong. But there's nothing that can be done other than spreading awareness.

  • @flower24587 Show me those homes that are willing to take in each and every pet that is on "the list." I work with many rescues and shelters in the Chicago area. Some are "no kill" and they work hard to find space for the pets they cannot provide kennels for. Some are "open door," and they work even more tirelessly to avoid humane euthanasia. The staff and volunteers work their fingers to the bone to raise funds for the pets that need medical attention and homes for the others.

  • @flower24587 You are so way off base. Your dream world sounds lovely, but the fact is that there are NOT enough homes for these animals. The fact is, disease is an issue. Have you read about parvo? Canine distemper? Heartworm? All of these diseases are on the rise because people cannot afford to (or chose not to?) vaccinate their pets or otherwise provide them with the medical attention they need to stay healthy.

  • @Sicsaem

Animals do not deserve to be killed any more than humans do, if you would not do it to a human, then don't do it to an animal. Killing animals is not ethical or moral. They do not suffer in a kennel nor does disease "spread" -- the contagion theory was disproved in the 1800's. "Disease" is just another excuse to kill. Do you also want humans killed if they have a "disease?"

  • No such thing as "euthanasia." It is murder. "Shelters" don't kill because there are too many animals, they kill because they are permitted to, they are sadists who don't care and who enjoy killing. You would know that if you were around them for a while. No matter how few animals they have, they will kill them because that is what they have always been permitted to do, stop making excuses for them, stop enabling them to kill. Search "Nathan Winograd" and see the No Kill Solution.

  • Basically shelters need to be no-kill and more like farm sactuaries with aquaponics

  • A shelter should be a sanctuary place where they can be adopted or daycared or just live there until they die of old age. Aquaponics is growing plants fish and bacteria in a cycle for food. If a well run aquaponic operation was set up in a shelter with land for them to run on, it could help feed them good food. Then shelter animals could produce quality feces as fertilizer for more food growing. This is what I think of as the solution

  • Thank you

  • i had to pause this 4 times just to get through it

  • breeders = puppy mills. awful.

  • @AlirazaTRAVEL Wrong. Backyard Breeders certainly, but not the responsible ones.

  • @AlirazaTRAVEL

Not necessarily, there's a difference between liscensed breeders and puppy mills. "Responsible" breeders don't allow inbreeding or reproduction of ill dogs. They normally take the pregnant dog to the Vet for check-ups, and when the puppies are born they are vaccinated. Puppy mills? There's no freedom, concern-for health or well-being of the dogs forced to procreate litter after litter. As a result, they're typically sick. Both contribute to the issue, however.

  • Those ads in the Sunday paper listing puppies for sale make me shake my head. STOP making more dogs people!

  • Thank you. I've always adopted from shelters and volunteered for one. Lucky for me it was a privately funded shelter and no killing. It's so difficult for pet owners now. I rent and have one cat, if I want another cat I have to fork over $500.00. So, I can only afford the one. In Washington DC it's nearly impossible to find a rental that allows pets.

  • please peoples this is how bussines work okay, shelter+vet+adoption fee=bussiness okay wake up if they feed the dogs and the dogs dont make any money and they put them to sleep okay get realisted okay ,when people open there mouth they wanted you to smell good and nice how they are but remember this, people guts always smell.sorry people but this is real life happen right now. good luck with your nice sleeping dream.

  • Btw I am i no way saying children and old people be put to sleep. I love children and elders too. I also love animals. I've heard the world is over populated with us humans, which is a debate of yeh and nah so Mm pt. was we're not fair and square. Also I agree with many, there should be laws that apply for breeding... which involves hard punishments to these breeders or puppy mills. What can we do? :(

  • Comment removed

  • @sirensgrotto i meant it wasnt fair to the animals, jesus christ you dont have to get pissed off at me at what other people do to animals!

  • i deffinately support the youth in asia

  • Omg this was so hard to watch I have to admit I cried

  • Very insightful video. More people need to know about animal euthanasia.

  • @languagenut5 what do people need to know?they killed them all. ASPCA,PETA,HSUS make money to kill.i understand that if they didnt euthanize the dogs the facility would not be able to control.SO why even have an animal organization if you know that in the end the ratio to killed to saved would not be equal? Why do they still keep going? its not for the animals.ITS money.Peta gets 29mill a year to kill animals and the rest of them do to.its not about animals its money.the more they kill the more$

  • Even "no kill" shelters euthanize; someone once told me a shelter can only be labeled "no kill" if it only euthanizes under 5% of its incoming animals. @etonks, I like your water analogy... I'm responsible for helping with intake and euthanizing at the shelter I work at, and when animal control shows up with 9 more cats at the end of the day, who goes to make room for them? Those are never easy decisions to make, but there's seldom another way.

  • i feel ill

  • @xmonkeygurlx There is no such thing as a NO KILL animal shelter. I currently work at an animal shelter and I can tell you first hand that there is no such thing. Huame society euthanizes, PETA euthanizes, ASPCA does too. The diffrence between the ASPCA, PETA, and Humane Society is they take the cute and fluffy ones, leaving the older or "unwanted breeds" with us. The only way to deter this from happening is just to stop breeding. Spay and neuter your animals.

  • One of the best videos I've seen on the subject. Thanks.

  • @SomeThingsAreNice irresponsible ppl let their pets breed. They don't get them fixed. If they can't afford it, they still let their fertile animals roam.Or they buy pets from pet shops & go for "designer" mutts Labradoodles,Cocka-poos,Puggles etc, supporting puppy mills instead of rescuing someone from the shelter. Nearly 11,000 dogs, cats, kittens and puppies die EVERY DAY in the US alone. It's like a full bucket of water, putting more in makes some fall out, there's only so much room :'(

  • I go on line in search of another dog for mine who has just lost his mate. I find an older dog, one that is a senor that might replace his friend. It needs a home asap or it's bye bye for this dog. I can't afford the 100 to 300 dollars, but I can afford to feed it. I'll work through the times it goes to the vet. How come I can't get that dog even if I can't afford the adoption fees? So another one I really liked gets put to sleep. Why? Because I didn't have the money? This makes me mad!

  • @promise2bgood If you can't afford the adoption fee, you can't afford a dog. What happens if you adopt the dog and it has heartworm and needs a $700 treatment?

  • @sirensgrotto um are you really saying something that stupid to a person that is trying to save a dogs life ,and I would think that for a 100. It should have hw testing already done shots started, and just saying some of the so call kill shelters Iv seen on line that rescue groups are trying to get adoptions for should not even be called shelters,

  • @sirensgrotto you manage to scrape through, even if it means missing out on your computer games, if you were ill and needed a $700 treatment you would be treated whether you were homeless or not and everything on the planet has the same right to live so everything deserves to be saved!

  • @fizzilovesanimals I never said they don't deserve to be saved. So don't put words in my mouth.

  • @promise2bgood if you dont have the money you dont need a dog. another person that part of the problem.

• By the way, to those of you who want to show how much you *really* care about the animals, adopt a pet from a shelter or breed rescue.

Any dog I have ever gotten has been from a shelter, but not just any shelter but something called a 'High Kill' shelter. I got my last pup at a HK here in Los Angeles this past April for my birthday and I love her with all my heart.

  • I, for one, applaud you for making this video because I know you must get so much flak from people who know NOTHING about animal euthanasia. So many people are uninformed or naive and really think shelters euthanize animals just to be cruel or mean which IS NOT true.

I can't believe some people really don't understand why euthanasia is done. Shelter over crowding breeds disease and horrible conditions which means that though they may be 'alive' those animals would suffer tremendously.

  • @urbanr0cker Agreed. The same people demanding to keep a shelter overcrowded are probably against puppy mills...which are also overcrowded and breed disease

  • @sirensgrotto I guess that's the sad truth that I was hoping was avoidable. I wish there was a way that they COULD get their vaccinations, uncrowded shelters and food without it being a burden on the economy...I mean I understand that they get diseased, unhealthy and unruly, but when those doggies ended up there I'm sure not all of them started off being sick or ill tempered....

  • I have to put my dog down tomorrow..hes in sooo much pain

I dont wanna do it but I cant let him live like this

  • I'm sorry you were put in the position you were, it is BECAUSE we have the option to euthanize that we do it. Imagine what would happen if it simply wasn't an option, just like euthanizing a granny isn't an option. Imagine the creativity, determination and momentum that would go into solving the problems. Yes, pets MUST be spayed/neutered, puppy mills shut and people who abuse animals be brought to justice. And we must remove the option of euthanasia to create the mindset of finding a solution.

  • you have a beautiful soul , this made me cry, my lab puppy is a rescue pup and i love her with all my heart

  • So terribly sad. A pet is forever not until they inconvenience you. So glad there are good people with big hearts doing so much to find as many of these animals new homes. I know I will never go anywhere but my local shelter next time i want a new fury family member.

  • Very touching video the truth is so hard to hear but needs to be heard in places like this.. Adopt a pet Save a life!

  • America Is soooo Stupid do we Eat Dogs?? THEN WHY DO THEY KILL THEM

  • @puppiesrule09 First, America is not the ONLY country that euthanizes dogs. What country do you live in where NO dog gets euthanized? Also, being the animals are euthanized, its not a good idea to eat meat from an animal who is INJECTED WITH POISON.

  • one thing i think is bullshit is this bitch tried to steal my dog and he bit her obviously and he got took by police and put in a shelter and it took me for ever to get him out when the bitch was trying to steal him. he wasnt actually my dog but his owner was sick in the hospital but i grew up with him and took care of him since he was a puppy.

  • @CocaineDrRockso and i didnt buy him, i found him and other puppies in a box in a garbage can! what sick fuck would do that?

  • im sorry i didnt mean to be so harsh i just broke down infrount of my kids and they were watching it with me i didnt think it would be so sad my dog broke her leg yesterday ad the vet bill was crazy i just wish that owning a pet ment when something hapened to it the vets arnt doing this for the cash but for the dogs im so sorry u went through this the poor babies

again sorry just a big animal lover and i hate the humans that have caused the death to so many dogs

  • @Tiffanyakeene Vides like this need to be shown. We need to force people to see the reality. Have you made an appointment to have your pet fixed?

  • @Tiffanyakeene Please, take your medication.

  • @Tiffanyakeene You posted a MONTH ago on here about how you were crying because your dog broke its leg and your kids saw you crying. And then you even LIKED my video...But you call me a crazy bitch and tell me to take this video down? I hate people who can't make up their minds!!!!

  • @sirensgrotto I was "forced" to put down one of my dogs about a year ago, I loved this dog very much in spite of what it had done and it's last moments were screaming crying and yelping as I left it to the vets. Now having killed other animals with a shot to the head or the heart, where they are completely unexpecting and it is completely painless, why is that not the preferred method of putting animals down? Cost or what?

  • @Tiffanyakeene calm down godzilla. VoV

  • This is a great video, thank you for posting it.

The part about Beautie made me cry <3

  • Hearthbreaking :-( x x

  • .continued. always ask to see the ones who are soon to be destroyed. This video and your words have only cemented my decision. Please people spay and neuter your pets, consider shelters as a last option, stop this senseless killing.

  • My throat closed up and I started crying not even half way through this, I haven't cried in months. At the moment I'm living in a house with 5 dogs and a cat. One of them, her head in my lap, looked up at me and I saw her in that room. I want to say that you were brave for posting this, and that by showing the hard and very honest truth. I made a promise to myself that I would never buy or breed any animals for which overpopulation is an issue, and when walking into a shelter to .continued.

  • why didn't you fucking refuse to do it? You can't talk about it being hard and get sympathy from me. You should have refused. Y would you take part in this shit?

  • @7mikethebike Because I knew with me there, they died with love. Some people who do euthanasia for years, get cold about it. I saw it for myself. Least with me, I fed them treats and petted them with love till their dying breath. I am not personally looking for sympathy. Never have. I am looking for people to understand what it takes and why it happens.

  • @sirensgrotto You get to deal with a certain small percentage of the public. Some might be irresponsible. Some might be like some mothers who realize they can't care for their kids. Other people might find themselves in circumstances where they don't have other options. People in these situations need our help to either keep their pets or have them re-homed. By bringing pets to a true shelter, they should be able to get this help.

  • @sirensgrotto The orphaned, lost, abandoned or feral animals should not be punished by having their lives taken because there aren't policies in place to save them. Those that aren't aware of the history of the Humane Society & ASPCA & want to know what we can do to change things need to read "Redemption" by Nathan Winograd. There is a LOT that can be done to prevent killing of pets.

  • @7mikethebike

If she doesn't do it, someone else will and at the end of the day, the animal still dies.

  • @7mikethebike WOW! That is all I can say to you buddy! How can you say the above, and profanity in it as well. You are heartless. Did you hear anything she was saying?? She is not the heartless one here.

  • Pass laws that force puppy mill to shut down. Shut down the Pet stores who make 500% profit over the price they paid for the puppies! Shut them all down!!

  • We euthanize innocent dogs or cats, fully capable of love if given the chance, yet we pay to take care of prisoners in jail.

  • I commend you! This was a powerful video and made me cry :'(

  • Breeding needs to stop! Stop getting pets because they are cute, or big, or strong, or have traits you want. Breeding is unnecessary and cruel at this point. Barks of love and Angels for Animals Network save pets from shelters and try to find them forever homes among with hundreds of others. Look them up on facebook! It's truly sad how many animals are put to sleep!! Get your pets spayed or neutered. Have a heart and open your eyes. Dogs are meant as lifelong companions not protectors of a hous

  • It's a shame that America spends all there time spending there money (billions of dollars) bombing other countrys and trying to take over the world! What about the animals and homeless, starving people? They want love and care, too. But no! We want World War and New World Order! If they helped donate everbody and all the animals would be happy and healthy. That's exacly why we have these kind of things.

  • this video left me speechless, im trying to find 2 puppies and their mom a foster home if i dont find it by today 5/23/11 they will be put to sleep :'( i tryed callingeveryone posting on facebook but nothing, i feel like i dint try my best in to saving those puppies, im still trying to find them that foster home :-( this video made me cry really it did, i love animals and i dont like giving up so esly .... but here there is not hope :(

  • I currently work at my local humane society and this video is so true, the worst ones are the one that wag their tail the way to the room.

Your video is so true!! Thank you

  • This made me cry

  • You're story of Beauty made me cry. In a shelter I knew of a scared mother dog had two puppies. The puppies were being adopted but the mom was ignored because of being a scarred pitbull mix. That was 9 years ago and I love her with my heart and soul.

  • Thank you for posting this! I am a college student who anytime I can present anything I want I chose this topic! I used your video for my recent presentation I did and I just want you to know that it left people in tears and asking about spaying and neutering their pets. I worked at the Humane Society, I loved my job but after a while I couldn't handle it anymore. I know we can't save them all but if we can get 1 person to fix their animal that is one less litter adding to the over population!

  • siren, I know there is more we could do about the animal issues in this country. But I believe the only way is if we can get some good laws passed. For instance, we need to either ban pet shops, or make breeders have to be responsible for the animals they breed. Maybe there should be a huge fine if they over breed, etc. If breeders were financially responsible for every single dog they bred, perhaps they would breed less? But I think banning pet shops is the way to go.

  • @convictswifey I know some responsible breeders who support licensing/permitting breeding. Thus the ability to regulate far better how many animals are bred, how often, living conditions are clear, etc. Puppy mills are no better than livestock treatments. Thats how this country lawfully sees dogs...livestock. Making breeding a licensed practice would put backyard breeders and puppy mills out of business, bring down over population and still allow for responsible breeders to operate

  • @sirensgrotto I feel that people like us are trolls.dogs and other animals are so loyal and what do us humans do to them.we chain them up.we neglct them.it just like doing something god for someone but that some gets mad at you for doing that something you did for them

  • @sirensgrotto sorry, but there is no such thing as a "responsible breeder". Knowing the extent of the pet overpopulation problem in every single city around the world, anyone that contributes to that problem by breeding and producing more puppies is irresponsible. There may be conscientious breeders that put a little more care in to producing and raising healthy puppies, but in the end they're still a part of the problem...

  • @LocalDogRescue You don't make sense. You start by saying there are no "responsible" breeders and then end with there may be "conscientious" breeders?

  • @sirensgrotto Being conscientious about the conditions in which they keep their dogs, breed and raise puppies still does not mean they are acting responsibly by producing more pups and adding to the pet overpopulation problem. Get it?

  • @LocalDogRescue Yes, that better explains it. But I know breeders who are willing to buy back their dogs if the owners can't keep them.A friend purchased a Havanese from a breeder who has it in her contract that if the dog can't be kept any longer, she will buy back for the SAME price they paid. Be the dog 5 mths or 10 yrs. They paid over $2000 for this particular puppy. The breeder wishes to ensure that her dogs will be less likely to end up in shelters. That goes far beyond conscientious.

  • @LocalDogRescue Rescue is a game of roulette for some. Some people wish to have a full history on the dog they get. Both in health and behavior. A fraction of the breeders out there are as good as the Havenese one my friend went to. But its breeders like that, that are the future to healthier bloodlines. If breeders were ALL put out of business, dogs would go extinct. The best option is to regulate breeding, not ban it.

  • I know EXACTLY what you are talking about. After working in a shelter for only a year I cannot do it anymore. I have seen too many go, including a rott who was unwanted I wanted to take her home with me so badly but I didnt have the money. 2 days after we put her down I attempted suicide because she reminded me of Harvey and how the life just life his eyes never to return and she looked at me like she knew how much it hurt me to do it and licked my nose to say she understood.

  • this made me bawl out in tears

  • Thank you for sharing these facts. I hope that it will help people to realize how important it is to SPAYE and NEUTER their pets! To visit a local shelter rather then buy from breeders and/or puppymills. Visit your loacal animal shelter or google one and you may find your new best friend!

  • In Clark County (Las Vegas, Nevada) 30,000 cats are euthanised each year... it's really bad....

  • In Germany it's not allowed to euthanize an animal unless its very old and/or ill and suffering. I dont know how things are in the US but I guess if shelters have too many animals they are allowed to put an animal to sleep? I am against it and I hope soon will laws forbit that too. But you guys have way more overpopulation than we have so in my opinion it's better to euthanize the poor angels than kill them with gas or whatever. I hope people will wake up and adopt a new friend from a shelter :(

  • It's an unselfish kind of love when you know it's time to let go of your pet..and you are there with them holding and comforting them as they pass...it's the least anone can do for the years of love and devotion that pet has given you...

  • This is possibly the saddest thing I have ever seen. My heart goes out to all who participate in this job, and to the animals too.

  • I am about to lay down my dog, he's 8yrs, 1month and 6 days, and he has this incurable skin disease. He used to have heartworm but he has gone through that. Its really painful for me to let go. I was the only one left in the family who doesn't want to put him to sleep until now. I really hope that someone would respond, is the euthanasia process safe? Will he experience pain?

  • @pizzazzylioness Its very safe. The only pain he may experience is from the injection site itself. The needle going into skin. A majority of euthanasias, the animal goes VERY quickly. I expected it to be slower, but not painful, but I always expected it to be, as if they are falling asleep. But it happens much faster than that. Generally before the entire syringe is injected the animal is already "gone". My heart goes out to you dear. Bless you for loving your companion.

  • God bless u for bringing this to all of us. People out there do not know the meaning of love that is why they enable the pet centers to have to do what they have to do. Please I beg all of you guys out there to really truely love your pets and keep them with you with all the love and care you can give till they live out their life .

  • I couldnt finish the video, If fucking sad how this country has the policy that if a dog/cat isnt adopted with in this time period theyre killed. Honestly imo I think it would be better if we let them free in the wild. Sure they would have problems finding food and whatnot but atleast its better than being killed. About a year ago me and my mom went to a local animal shelter to put down our cat. She was to old but we did use Euthanasia. And it was probably the WORST day of my life.....

  • People comment left and right...But what really counts is what animals live with them... and where did they come from? I have a dog that was one that they had trouble putting down... I dont know if it was the waggy tail or the sparkle in her eye. But a city shelter called on a rescue group that they had never called on before. No one at the shelter could bring themselves to put her down. She is one of three dogs that I own.... all rescue and two have been with me for over 10 years....

  • Thank you for the strength to make this video and narrate. I too was a euth tech and it is a heartbreaking job. It takes a lot of strength to give love to a spirit before it leaves to a better place.

  • Bless you for the strength to make this video and narrate. I too was a euth vet. A job I hated, but unfortunately some one has to do it in shelters that must take in every animal brought to them and are always overwhelmed with so many. Giving love in those last minutes is so hard. But I know that so many of them knew it and felt it, to be the last one to hold that spirit before it departed to a better place. -

  • I think im just gonna go cry in the corner now...

  • Really true....

  • I wish they had better laws to reduce pet population.

  • i am so moved by this.

  • I cant stop crying

  • I think the real focus should be to control breeding of dogs

  • listen. when you adopt an animal you have already known that you would be able to take care of it and love it forever. All the pets my family has ever had has never been abandoned or left. ever. go to a shelter to get a pet

  • Thank you for making this video...I've worked as a technician at an animal shelter since '07 and am always appalled at the hateful, vitriolic comments people make about how "heartless" you have to be to do that job. Quite the opposite. "Heartless" is the individual who lets their cat have litter after litter of kittens, then drops them off at the shelter, sick and flea-infested. "Heartless" is the person who loses interest in their dog once it is no longer "cute" anymore.

  • "Heartless" is the person who dumps their animals because...they're moving...they're pregnant...the animal is too loud, too quiet, too active, not active enough, is too old, poops on the floor, scratches their house guests; work at a shelter, you hear every excuse under the sun. There are a few people in desperate situations, and those people are the ones I enjoy trying to help. But the vast majority are just looking for a quick fix, and too often the animal suffers.

  • Why Do people Euthanize an innocent loving dog? Seriously would you like if i stuck a needle into you knowing your going to die in seconds !!! It makes me sick

  • @xmonkeygurlx I believe the better question is "Why do people DUMP innocent loving dogs at KILL shelters?". That is what should make you sick. Those of us who work in rescue, both kill and no kill WISH we were unemployed and had to find a new job. SOMEONE has to care for the unwanted animals out there, and that includes being forced to euthanize because people buy from breeders and pet stores instead of adopting.

  • @xmonkeygurlx It's the OWNERS and the greeders who are doing the killing!

  • Please adopt from a shelter or a rescue. Do not buy a pet while animals die at shelters daily across the world. Please then accept the responsibility to care for the pet till it dies a natural death. Do not give up your companion for any reason. They depend on you totally. They are innocent and need your devotion.

  • SO SAD AND VERY TOUCHING. ANIMALS NEED LOVE UNTIL THEY TAKE THEIR LAST BREATH AND YOU CLEARLY LOVE ALL THE ANIMALS. I AM SO SORRY YOU HAVE TO DO THAT. PEOPLE SHOULD GROW UP AND REALISE THE DAMAGE THEY ARE DOING BY BUYING FROM PET SHOPS AND PUPPY MILLS WHEN SO MANY HEALTHY AND LOVABLE ADULT PETS NEED LOVING HOMES. SHAME ON THE HUMAN RACE. MOST OF THEM SHOULD BE PUT DOWN !!!

  • I had to make a on the spot decision for my cat of 12 years (Raised from 4 weeks old) She had a massive tumor on the back of the tongue, and was in discomfort, they had to sedate her to "scope" her throat and they phoned me saying the bad news, and was given the option to euthanize her while she was sleeping... I was not there in her final minutes, the vet apologised often, I could not of let her suffer for another hour just to see her go back to sleep, for good.

  • I can't understand why people say things like that about those who's job it is to euthanise dogs and cats. That time in your life must have been very dificult. I am sorry you had to live through it, I cried just hearing the stories. I have never understood puppy mills at all, the mothers are mistreated, and half the puppies wind up getting put down later in life thanks to those who are TRUELY heartless, those who bred them for profit.

  • very touching, very sad and very well said, thanks for sharing your experience with us. and please ignore the idiots on this posts, they obviuosly don't know any better, thanks again

  • Continued from post above...

But when they injected that cat and she meowed, and cried and looked up at me. My heart broke. I knew I could never take that job. Some have laughed at me for this, but when that cat looked up at me and meowed, all I heard was, "save me Alee". That moment and my inability to save that cat has bothered me and still does this day. I am now almost finished my first year of Nursing, and although I may never be a veteranarian, I am now a member of my local SPCA.

  • @PackLeaderAlee

Indeed, that is very sad. It would break my heart too! Don't blame yourself for anything, even though I understand the pain you're feeling. If every animal lover had the time, money, and room I'm sure there would be no animals in shelters! My first week volunteering at one was difficult because I heard their pleas for help and I just wished I could take them all. I've seen a dog get euthanized there, and never will I forget that. RIP to these beautiful animals.

  • I commend you for making this video. The message must be passed on in hopes of educating those who think that animals are disposable. I sat here watching this with my 6yr old Siberian Husky by my side, and I bawled my eyes out. About 2 years ago I was doing a co-op class through school, and was working at the vet. My last day there was the day that they brought in a stray cat and euthanized her. I always wanted to be a veteranarian

  • I don't know how you could do it. I def. Don't blame those who take care of them and love them in the shelters. It's one of the toughest forms of love. Instead of letting the dog/cat whatever it is live a miserable life of abuse, neglect pain what have you, you are letting them go and releasing them of that agony.

You video made me cry so much.

Your pets are very lucky to have someone like you care for them and love them.

  • Killed for being unwanted. Its like abortion, but apparently to keep the population of dogs under control. I wonder if the same will start happening to people too. Animals dont deserve to have to be treated bad their whole life then put down when they get a new chance. This is sick.

  • They cry about it but why work there and do the job. its sick there no better then abortion doctors, its about control and so many dogs are just taken for stupid shit were there life may have not been perfect but it was better then being put in a cage and then later killed in some shelter. The government is the enemy and one day they will do this i believe to abandoned human children or children in orphanages saying there isn't any room and we had to make room for more coming in. you watch....

  • @LillithDotcheva You are so ignorant. You act like it's their fault they have to put animals down. That's a horrible thing to say. You know what's sick? Poeple discarding animals just because they get bored or it too much work to car for them. They don't have choice! You can't compare this to abortion. Shut the hell up and do your research!

  • @finallywoman18 you shut the hell up i have done my research they dont need to kill all those healthy animals. one day like i said it will be human children and will be the same excuse.. so fuck all kill shelters and fuck you they don't care about saving animals and there no different then Nazis in my book. God help the pit bulls because thats one breed they like to kill first because they need space they say.. bullshit..

  • @LillithDotcheva You act like they have a choice. They don't. Shelters are getting full because people are throwing out animals left and right. If anyone should be called Nazi's it's them. Not the people that put animals down. Nazi's are people who want to eradicate a certain race because they think they are superior. If they didn't care about animals why would they work at a shelter or try to get animals adopted? You are so stupid.

  • @LillithDotcheva Obviously your a heartless person to believe the people that put animals down enjoy do this job. They care about just like you. But it's a part of their job. Why don't you go up to a shelter and actually get to know the people that work their. Your judging people you don't even know. Your head is too far up your ass to realize that. You we're out of line with your comment but I apologize for cursing at you like that..

  • If I had to kill a dog I would probaly kill myself out of guilt =(

  • @JacquesVontoui The guilt belongs to owners who dump their animals, people who buy instead of adopt, and breeders who breed for sheer profit. I cried with every single euthanasia because humanity failed them. I certainly felt guilty, but I had 1% of guilt compared to the rest,

  • No one wants a pitbull with scars so you kill the dog. You people bring those dogs in you take that responsibilty to care for them. Not kill them. Slip of tongue, This is the reason why I don't like this vegetable people ther'e the real killers.

  • @kalagoyu2 The dog was confiscated from a home breeding and fighting dogs. She was up for adoption for 5 months. Stuck in a small kennel for 5 months, passed over for "cuter" dogs. She was beginning to go kennel crazy from the solitary confinement. Due to her being a "former fighter breeder" we could not house her with other dogs unless we could supervise. She began to self mutilate herself. She was put down for those reasons. BTW, I EAT MEAT. So you assessment of me being the problem is wrong

  • @kalagoyu2

You are either young or simply ignorant, because there is no possible way that all of these animals can be saved from euthanasia. Shelters DO have to make room for other animals, you know. Are they supposed to ever deny homeless cats/dogs and have them returned to the streets or wherever they were neglected? It is sometimes for the benefit of the animals to undergo euthanasia, since constantly being stuck in a steel cage really is no life at all. I want euthanasia to end (continued)

  • @Sicsaem You don't tell me I'm posting nonsense yer the killer around here, not me. Anyway I'll will try to volunteer for a shelter.

  • @kalagoyu2

I have never killed an animal, and never will, unless my animals are terminally suffering. I DON'T agree with euthanasia, at all, but I understand that sometimes shelters have no choice. The best thing you can do honestly is foster/adopt. I don't know if the dogs get a longer time if they find a foster owner, but why not try? It would ease a lot of suffering from being constantly held in a kennel.

  • @Sicsaem You don't tell me I'm posting nonsense, but anyway I will let it go. Arguements not gonna solve nothing. Those animals are still gonna die anyway. Bye.

  • as much as most people do, but the reality is there is not enough space on this planet for these animals. Hell, there is really not enough room on this planet for HUMANS. As long as people continue to irresponsibly breed and refuse to alter their pets, this is going to go on for the rest of humanity. If you want to make an impact go volunteer at an animal shelter, don't continue to post nonsense. Anyway, it is difficult to place a Pit Bull into a home, because of constant breed discrimination.

  • with a dog that matches your needs! As always, mixed breeds are some of the best dogs there are! Keep an open mind. :)

  • You are a strong woman. I understand how painful this must be for you, it is NOT your fault. It is the fault of people who breed and buy, and not spay and neuter. Pet euthanasia breaks my heart too, and although I want to work in an animal shelter; I don't know if I could do it. Don't listen to these idiots on Youtube, I wonder how much they help these same animals you're forced to put down. Keep trying to save these animals sweetie, it's good you care, not enough people do.

  • im am soo geting a dog when i grow up hopefully a shelter dog! ill proably try to find my own house and be looking for a dog thats friendly but easy to take care of what would you suggest? plz respond!

  • @frenchfrieperson1

Although I understand you would prefer advice from the owner of this video, I can help you to the best of my ability. As far as purebreds go, a Golden Retriever would fit your needs very well. They are usually a safe bet as they are friendly, easy to take care of, (for the most part) and easy to train. However, there would be some grooming maintenance required. Usually shelters know the personality and behavior of the shelter dogs, so they will be able to pair you up

  • @Sicsaem thats great! thanks sooo much for the feedback and a golden retriever has always been my dream dog yay!!!! cant wait till i grow up!=D

  • @frenchfrieperson1

Not a problem! I forgot to include Labrador Retrievers as well. They, as well as mixes, account for most dogs at shelters, and are often passed without a second thought since they are so common. (Purebred/Mixed breed) This isn't a FACT, but I did volunteer/work at a shelter and I observed people while they were looking at the animals. If you need any help, advice, etc, you can feel free to message me! I don't mind at all. (:

  • @Sicsaem cool! ill get back to you if i have any questions and thanks for being so kind and patient

  • @Sicsaem Yeah, labs, especially "black dogs" are often passed over. There are several good articles about "black dogs" who are one of the most forgotten and passed over type of dog in the shelters. Its a human psychology thing. We are drawn to "cute" and "different". Many black dogs don't have attributes that catch most people's eye. Most of these dogs are lab mixes.

  • @frenchfrieperson1 Most mutts fit this bill. I find golden mixes to be a great type of dog. Usually smaller than a purebred golden and usually have less flowy coat in need of grooming.

  • Although I'm still confused - why are people hating on Responsible breeders? It's pretty much just backyard breeders and puppy mills that should be shut down...

  • @akebai Because when you buy a dog, even from a responsible one, you COULD have adopted instead. A concept I understand, but I also understand why people choose to buy from responsible breeders. Though a majority of adopted animals are loving companions, you don't have a behavioral, genetic, or medical history on them. It is a gamble adopting a pet. Some people want better guarantees on health and behavior, though its never 100% either way, its more a peace of mind.

  • Beautifully done :)

  • A beautiful tribute, took a lot of guts. This is insane. SPAY - NEUTER - ADOPT and have the guts to take care of them.

In 2010 there were close to ten million not 3-4 as said in the video, check the ASPCA's site. Dogs and cats killed. The shelters can no longer afford to float them down, now they stick a bunch in a gas chamber - it takes about eight minutes.

DO NOT SUPPORT PET SHOPS OR BREEDERS. ADOPT. Go to your local kill shelter and ask to see the death row doggies and save just 1

  • Don't listen to any negative comments. You are just trying to educate people. You cannot control what happens at shelters more than I can... I have no idea how you did this and I am so sorry you had to. I would have ended up with100 animals in your position... I have 3 rescue dogs and could not be happier.

i also made a video trying to educate people. Please feel free to spread it. That is it's intent. (I am creating a video response)
