  • good musicianship and great expression!!

  • też se taką kupuje

  • oh man! you are my new idol!!

  • How do you put that tremolo in place?

  • @Fafarona94

How do you mean? In terms of the position of the arm, or the block? Or the tuning? I basically keep the unit floating (so that it can raise and lower the pitch). The arm is held in place by placing a piece of plastic foam at the bottom of the hole the arm goes into - the upward pressure against the thread provides enough resistance to hold it in place.

  • @Kev3542 Yeah you did explain it in the end, my tremolo arm is just going freely around, i just found a new cool way to make some effects as i play heavy metal, when trem arm is loose i just make it swing and it makes a bit of that 'vibration' if you listen carefully you will notice the changes in pitch ^^ thanks for fast answer !

  • @Kev3542 GOOD frickin idea man! I did that after reading your comment-made me a much happier guitar player. Thanks! :D

  • @drummerdudex023

No problem - although I've found an even better solution. There's a guy on eBay (at least in the UK) selling tiny tremolo arm springs that sit at the bottom of the tremolo arm hole - just try searching for "tremolo arm spring". They're excellent. I had to use a drill bit to remove the piece of plastic foam from the hole first.

  • @letzg0north08

Thanks. It's a 1991Fender Strat Plus De Luxe (with no modifications).

  • 0:26 epic win!!!

  • heywhat mods do you have on that strat?

  • @roccckkerrr

It's actually a completely standard 1991 Fender Strat Plus De Luxe - it came like this straight from the factory. Its pickups are Fender-Lace Sensors (red in the bridge, silver in the middle, blue for the neck). The trem system consists of an old style Wilkinson roller nut, locking machine heads and a dual pivot bridge. It's also got a fancy device in the trem cavity that allows strings to be bent without the bridge being pulled forward - great for playing double stop bends.

  • great guitaring...you rock my friend.... ;-)

  • @MrPolymeneas

    Thanks very much indeed.

  • Good playing, just not a fan of the tone you're getting.

  • Thanks very much - unfortunately, my camera does sort of thin the tone a little. Hopefully, the tone on my later videos is a bit less filtered.

  • @Kev3542 Ah, ok. Thats understandable. Cameramics arent all that great somtimes.

  • Those American Strats just cut through everything, I love it though, I think that's why so many guitar legends played strats...they could be heard over everything in the mix in the studio and live.

  • Brilliant playing. I'm lovin' it!

  • Thanks - you're a great guitarist yourself.

  • Pretty awesome phrasing! Keep up the strat goodness

  • sounds great. sounds mostly pentatonic to me, am i right?

  • @nickheck

Thanks - yes, it's mostly just a pentatonic blues scale, with maybe the odd flattened 5th thrown in.

  • dude. You is one guitarplayer diferent. You shares the theme with improvisation that seems so well done that is. And sound of your blackstrato is perfect guy.

    what setup of the efects?

do you have others videos temas, funky soul?

  • Thanks very much - I'm using a G2.1u effects unit on this video. They're excellent units and I would certainly recommend one. My later videos, which are recorded plugging the G2.1u directly into my laptop, give a better idea of the G2.1u's capabilities. You can also download my album for free if you wish (see the link on the right) - that was recorded using mostly with this guitar and the G2.1u.

  • My pedal is a Boss ME 50. And dont have USB output. How would I connect better to the PC? A sound card, or direct the microphone? I have Cubase.

  • I'd use a good quality soundcard - I've recently heard of a new device called a Stealth Plug that allows you to plug your guitar straight into your PC. I don't know how good they are, but they might be worth checking out.

  • I will give a search.thanks

  • What Fuck!!!!! You is a God of Guitar.

    you have this tab?

  • Thanks very much indeed. Unfortunately, I don't have the TAB for this - it's just an improvisation. However, I can email you the backing track if you wish.

  • Ok. would rather

  • Anyway, was a great job. These record things are something that we have to do sometimes. The important is that the guitar sound really good, even with a non especial microphone. :)

    Great.

  • The record session seens to be a entire hall one, thats makes the sound poor. But, it´s a great sound anyway. Damn Fender is great stuff.

  • Thanks. The recording was done using a Sony Cybershot - the microphone isn't really built for the job, hence the thin sound. Nowadays, I tend to record the sound simultaneously on my laptop and sync it up afterwards.

  • eh...

  • Is that the vintage 70s classic? model

  • No, it's a completely standard Fender Strat Plus De Luxe.

  • Nice, thx man

  • you know a lot about blues my friend

  • too much reverb man. turn the talent knob down imo

  • nice

  • great solo, sure its better than some dragonforce solos, though not a lot.

  • dragonforce sucks dude

  • yea but thier solos are ummmm... unique.

  • thier solos make me wanna punch babies

he uses so much effects that he playing about half of what you hear..not only that but they cant even play their own stuff live and they play with zero emotion all the solos in the music is them showing off not trying to say anything just going "oh look at me im fast"

andy on can run through scales wildly and distastefully with enough practice but real music cant be learned it has to be in you and it isnt with them..

  • no its just that their solos are fast, thats whats unique about.

  • yah because speed is so unique like i said shred is whatever.

herman li sucks and there is nothing unique about them infact we all heard that exact sound when the atari was released in the seventies.. if your going to shred atleast make it mean something like dimebag from pantera or synyster fom a7x.

if your only playing music to show off then you have no reason playing at all music is supposed to make you feel something or make others feel something yah you hear them and you go "wow" thats it..

  • this is coold jjejejejejejjee you are autentic and no copy like the guitarrist from the world jejejejeje I from mexico and what no called good the inglish adios jejejeje te la rifas

  • very good solo mate.

10 times better than any bloody dragonforce solo out there lol

  • i agree

  • Is this a strat plus? Looks and sounds great.

  • Thanks - the guitar is a Strat Plus Ultra, or at least that's what I was told it was when I bought it new back in 1991. However, from what I've read, its spec is slightly different to a Plus Ultra, but it's also different to a Plus DeLuxe too, so I think it's a bit of an oddity. When I originally saw the guitar in the shop, it had a rosewood (or possibly ebony) fingerboard - I had the neck swapped for a one piece maple version before I bought it.

  • Nice playing.

  • awesome man! you've got some sweet ideas goin there and you really lay them down. i love the tone too. keep it up!!

  • very cool soloing, keep rockin!

  • thanks man! you are a star :D

  • Hey agian. how many tremolo springs do you have in it?

  • Hello Mathias. There are three springs in this strat. It's also fitted with a device that resists the pull of bent strings - it came as standard with guitar. I can't remember what it's called now, but basically it helps the guitar to stay in tune while bending one string against another. Normally, bending a string will pull a tremolo bridge forward slightly, making the other strings go slightly flat - this device diminishes that effect.

  • Great feeling mate!!!!! One of a few videos I saw until the end!!

  • Thanks very much for that - I too tend to lose interest in videos before the end, so that's quite a compliment.

  • the riff about :38

    beautiful

  • Nice!! I dont speak english. I from Brazil. very good your song. Funky blues. firts albuns of Red hot chili peppers, funky music with influene of blues.

Congratulations!! You is very good guitar player....

Sory, i dont speak your language.

  • Muito obrigada pelo elogio - você é muito gentil. Viva o Brasil!

  • Thanks dude

  • How do you get the Tremolo arm to stay in place? Nice work!:)

  • Thanks very much. As for the tremolo arm, it stays in place due to a little spring that's fitted at the bottom of the hole that the arm fits into - it pushes the thread on the arm into the thread in the block just enough to hold it in place. The guitar was set up like that as standard. I use a piece of foam rubber (actually half a foam ear defender) on my white strat to achieve the same effect.

  • little variety, lots of licks sounding the same with double stops. better than me..but it was boring.

  • dude, eat shit. so long as it was better than you, you can't talk shit. period.

  • nice good work, def gonna be favorate

  • Yeah dude. This is some nice stuff. =]

  • 4/5

  • wow! nice work!

  • damn son you have got one mean motherfucking tone. well done

  • How come your nut is so big?

  • It's a roller nut - it came as standard with the guitar back in 1991. It's also got locking machine heads and a bridge that pivots on two posts, as opposed to the six screw arrangement on regular strats.

  • youve actually got a strat plus.. ihave one too its not actually a roller nut.. the roller nuts didnt come into play untill around 1993-4 its actually an LSR nut... its a lovely guitar... which lace sensors does it have? nice playing

  • I hate to be contrary, but I just checked the catalogue that came with the guitar and it's actually a Wilkinson roller nut - as you say, the LSR came out later and it was much smaller than the Wilkinson. The guitar itself is a 1991 Strat Plus Ultra - although the single bridge pickup suggests it's a transitional model. I bought the guitar new on Tottenham Court Road in London. As for the pickups, I'll have to tell you about them in a separate message, which should appear below this one.

  • ahh yes thats the one!! its a wilkinson sorry about that error and yeah this is a strat plus ultra... or is it a strat plus deluxe? because the ultra actually has a humbucker the bridge doesnt it? i have the strat plus with vintage noiseless and another one with gold lace sensors... :)

  • As for the pickups, the neck pickup is a Blue Lace Sensor which has an increased output with a warmer 50's humbucking sound - basically a Gibson P-90 type sound. The middle pickup is a Silver Lace Sensor which is meant to deliver a fat 70s single coil sound with increased output and more midrange. The bridge pickup is a Red Lace Sensor. These gave the hottest output of the Sensor Series, and gives a fat, punchy humbucking type sound. All in all, it's a great guitar - very versatile.

  • man, is this improv?

  • Yeh, it's an improv.

  • Man you're awsome!I wish I could play like you!

  • kinda pickups are those man, awesome strat tone! and good licks!

  • Thanks very much. The pickups are Fender Lace sensors - they came as standard with the guitar (which is a 1991 Strat Plus Ultra).

  • If you just listen to your playing without watching it, it sounds no different from the professional players I listen to, i mean in terms of quality. You've got sick licks man. a really fun solo.

  • COOL id love to play just like you do, but i cant because im only 11 years old. And no one will let me in on music school :S

  • What a scorching tone! I especially love that slide at 1:22, fantastic sound man.

  • Thanks. The tone is courtesy of a Zoom G2.1 u processor and a Peavey amp.

  • Holy crap. Your style is so great, I love this vid.

  • Great licks man! Inspiring. You kept the solo interesting and fresh...not easy to do in blues...without treading on "overused, tired" phrasing. Thanks for posting.

  • Incredible sound. Another great vid.

  • Curious what amp you are using here?

  • It's a Peavey Stereo Chorus 400 through a Zoom G2.1u effects box

  • From one guitarist to anouther. You are the man.

  • mate that is yjr sex right there, keep ot up because you rule what pik ups?

  • Thanks for the compliment...the pickups are Fender Lace sensors.

  • you have a very good sound there!!very good playing too!do you use EMGs?

  • Thanks for the compliment...I don't use EMGs; they're Fender Lace sensor pickups.

  • Fantastic beat and feelin Kev ;) Is that an American Standard?

  • Thanks for the compliment. The guitar is a 1991 Strat Plus Ultra.

  • you like eric johnson, he? :-)

  • nice playing! it sounds very Allman Brothers Band ish! nice sound!

  • God!...That sound!!! That's one mean strat

    and you make it sing!!!

  • I like this....Thumbs up!

  • Nice phrasing...Reminiscent of Johnny Winter's triplets... Enjoyed it.

  • This is like a sentence without any punctuation.I think you should go back to the 'jazz improv' take your hand off the neck technique again.

PS Never play the blues in your Country and Western shirt.

  • Are you joking? This guy is one of the best guitar players I've ever seen.

  • He's my brother. He needs bringing down a peg or two.

  • Nevertheless, he's still an amazing player. His shirt is very nice, too.

  • He is a good player.I can't agree with you about the shirt. If you want to hear him in rockier mode look for '42nd Street Slide' on my page.

  • are you serious. i bet this isn't improvised and when my sister get her new camera you will be amazed. wait. that was not blues i will show you blues.

  • Till then piss off.
