The narrative to this video is VERY MISLEADING. The narrator doesn’t know the difference between a horse’s knee and ankle. Horses typically lie down and sun bath for hours when the sun comes out after a lot of rain which is obvious the case here. The "infected gash" on the buckskin horse’s shoulder is quite visible because it has been doctored with a medicine that is purple in color. I have used it on wounds and it is great. If it was infected it would have matted hair below it. It doesn’t.

WTF, can we not get a tractor out there and remove the excess mud and manure? I have raised a lot of horses in the wet WA weather. Go out and spend some time with them on their range, they fight and get hurt and go untreated without having acsess to good hay, so the ones being held have it pretty good and yes several horses can lay down at the same time for hours. They even have a squeeze chute that lays on its side so they can safely take care of the horses feet. Most horses have pressure from dominant horses the three year old doesn't look that bad because of the treatment but because of the stress he/she gets from the other horses, not allowing to get to one of the hay places. I love horses but it hurts to see wild horses captured and hold that badly.

If you have to many of them, better shoot them up controlled, the old ones and ill ones and keep the healthy ones to a suitable number. I agree that the horses are in good condition. I believe the "downed" mare to be in labor, as her vulva is quite large. I disagree with removing the horses from their land so that ranchers can make money, since the land and the horses belong to the American people. These horses as a whole looked to be in very good condition. Spring brings muddy conditions everywhere. The hay trough was full the horses were feed, bright eyed and looked healthy. Everytime you have a number of horses or even one horse they find ways to get injured. The commentary is just sensational journalism. The bigger question is with all the budget deficiets who is going to pay to continue the wild horse program? Do you just let them starve? The entire Mustang program is a train wreck.

FYI, the ASPCA will do NOTHING for these animals. I wrote Investigator Fox at the salt lake city ASPCA about the conditions that horses were enduring in this BLM facility.1 foot of standing mud, lame horses, emaciated horses, downed horses, horses with lacerations and horses with nasal discharge. He wrote me back saying that those conditions were normal for livestock in UT. Everyone else with horses in this condition would go to jail ..... last dime I will ever send to the ASPCA, shameful

I have two of these wild horses , it has rained all week on and off, pen is muddy but I have over head shelter, and dry hay for the horses to rest in, every morning I get up and the horse stand, look at the mudd and snort. that is horse talk for crap I don't like mudd. have you looked at the vidio of the horses coming in from the wild, they are fat. and I mean fat., They are not starving the blm can't find homes for more than 20% of 24000 and that is want they want to end up with in the wild

Wild horses and burros across the American south west are rounded up by helicopter and dumped into holding pens; at last count 42,000 are in holding pens to the tune of 70M tax payer $ a year. Celebrities Cheryl Crow and Willie Nelson are already heavily involved in stopping this. For example, the purpleish color on the wound of the horses shoulder anti-biotic ointment that is used to treat horse and other animal wounds, proof that the animal is being cared for. It is quite normal for horses to baste in the warm sun for hours after a few cold months. I like how the screen shrinks size when showing the skinny horse. More then half of these horses should really be re-released back into the wild.Nevada passed two bills that would fence off wild horse to public water and prevent any eco sanctuaries/preserves to be built for wild horses in the state of Nevada. In their defense that fillys "infected" wound you can see as Purple looking because it was treated with Gentian violet spray.. you can see the coloration around it that makes it look worse. And i have seen much worse wounds heal just fine.. so that little filly will heal ok for anyone that is worried. That of course says nothing of the conditions that i agree are deplorable. They didn't mention there are over 42,000 horse living in these kinds of conditions in BLM pens in the US today.

My husband and I are elders and live on a very thin shoestring, but I can PROMISE you that WE WOULD make sure those horses and burros had good, clean living conditions with food, water, shelter and care, no matter what sacrifices we had to make for ourselves. Can someone please explain how the BLM can have multiplied MILLIONS of tax dollars poured into their branch of government, and still these kinds of abuses are what go on with everything they are in charge. When the BLM changed the subject about the foal, I am sure it was because they let the foal die (or euthanized it). The BLM needs to release these poor horses back into the wild where they might actually feed. Those sick horses need proper treatment. The BLM has come to stand for pure evil. I checked the weather records to see if the mud was the result of abnormal rainfall. 2 weeks earlier it had rained 1.5 inches and since then just trace amounts. Sometimes my corrals look mucky for a day or two but NOTHING like the ones shown here.
