I love this movie when I was little. My favorite part was always the opening credits, because they were so wonderful, especially the animated animals.
@musickeys8 you can look him up on imdb. He worked with Robert Redford for a stretch in the '70s, "Downhill Racer," "The Candidate," "Smile" ... there were some other animated ones like "Alvarez Kelly" ... some later work like Margaux Hemingway's "Lipstick" and the Bee Gees version of "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" ... his last logo was for the Legend of the Lone Ranger. Many more inbetween ... including all the Planet of the Apes movies ...
cool thanks for the info, I do remember those animated titles in "Legend of the Lone Ranger". I worked at a movie theatre back then and the titles were impressive on the big screen. Now I know who did all that work. Amazing.
Thanks for posting this, bad quality or not. This was created by my dad, Don Record, who designed dozens of acclaimed title sequences in the '60s and '70s (he died too young, in 1980). His credit's onscreen toward the end of your clip. Keep in mind, there were no computers back then ... all done by hand, and camera. - Tracy in Seattle
Yep, tremendous soundtrack. Leslie Bricusse could make music. Saw this film since it came out when I was a kid. Never get tired of it. A 'world of fantasy' that saturates your consciousness. Such screen legendary has passed into history. Kids today are a whole lot poorer, unless they are educated to appreciate this.
If anyone can upload 'Why do we treat animals like animals?'song would be really great.
